2012 in review – The Stories About the People that Made the Year Great

By Josslyn Streett, Rain Shadow Reiki Master/Teacher

Time to celebrate and be grateful
Time to celebrate and be grateful

Whoo Hooo!!  What an amazing year this has been.  One year ago I listened to Divine Source and started a blog/website for my Reiki practice.  It has been a year of learning a lot about building my own site and keeping it up, internet blogging and meeting other bloggers.  I’ve also learned about marketing and socializing on the web, as I joined Facebook and started a Page for Reiki there as well.  And it’s been a year of facing my many fears to write about what I love to the web public at large but is still not so popular with the world at large.  What a year it’s been!!

Following My Intuition

In case you do not know, I write what comes to me intuitively.  I write about what I feel Divine has put into my head.  I always have a thousand different blog ideas rolling through my head and if I don’t put them down on ‘paper’ they don’t go away.  So, I type them into drafts on my blog and save them.  Then I add to them until I feel they are complete.  Then I  send them out to cyberspace and pray the people who need to read them, will find them.  And, they do.

People’s Stories

The WordPress people have been kind enough to supply me/us with statistics below about how many blogs I wrote my first year (57), how many views I had in the first year (7,400), how many countries I’ve reached (99) and how many views I have on my busiest day (86).  But, what I remember the most when I think about what has happened to me and my Reiki life since starting this blog in January 2012 is the people.  And, I’m not just saying this.  The people are always what matter to me and my life.  Here are a few of the stories that stand out to me.  Please feel free to comment at the bottom if I have forgotten your story or you simply haven’t told me that my blog and writings in some way connected to your life.  I’d love to hear that.

People Who Found Me- The Stories

  • I wrote a little blog about the tree frogs in my back yard because their song was so beautiful one evening.  A woman in Sequim who had just moved here from Colorado was sitting reading in her window seat of her new home one day.

A little tree frog came to visit her there each day.  She decided to look up what the tree frog meant for her spiritual life and found my site.  We met for tea, have much in common including children the same age and have become fast friends in a very short amount of time.  We had dinner with their family last night.  I’m eternally grateful for this new connection that came though this blog.

  • I wrote a blog about one of my favorite healing stones, Kyanite.
    Kyanite
    Kyanite

A woman in up state New York State had just purchased some kyanite from her local store.  She went home to look it up and found my blog.  She called me for a reading and wanted to know about mentorship. She is very psychic herself but does not have anyone near by that she knows of to receive help from and has not had positive vibes from the spiritual people she has found in her area.  I’m so glad she found me.  I truly enjoy mentoring other Light-Workers.

  • A woman in the UK found my site and read about my struggle with depression.  She too has dealt with this and could relate.  She emailed me and we chatted on the phone a couple of times.  I did a long distance healing on her and now she and her mom have now decided to take a Reiki class from me, from the U.K.  They will be my first International students, taught over Skype.  AWESOME!!
  • Another woman was told she’s a Light-Worker.  She didn’t know exactly what that meant so she went on the internet to do research.  She found my blog and called me right away since we both live in Sequim.  We made an appointment for a Reiki session.  She signed up right away for a class and came to a circle.  She certainly is a Light-Worker and a motivated one at that.  I so look forward to where this relationship will go as well as her healing abilities.
  • A third and different woman also in Sequim who I have known for a while but had not told her what I did, was also told she is a Light-Worker by another psychic.  Her son and my son are very good friends at school but rarely played after school together.  So she and I had not gotten to know each other very well beyond school events.  She went on the internet to do some research about Light-Workers and found my site.  She immediately called me and was so excited that there was someone in our small town teaching Reiki and spiritual classes to kids and adults that she could barely contain herself.  And, someone she already knew!  I was equally excited.  We had both felt a friend connection prior but had not acted on it. We  have gotten together for tea, Reiki circle and she will soon be taking my Reiki I class.  Our boys are happy too because now they get to see each other at Kid’s Reiki circle as well as at school.
  • I’ve had many other people call me who found my website.  The call me asking about what I do and how I can help them in their spiritual lives; men and women alike, although, probably mostly women.  Some are from the Olympic Peninsula where I’m from and many are from far away.  I am meeting some really amazing people, all because I listened to the messages that Divine sent me and even though I had fears about doing so, I followed them.

Divine’s Help

I am constantly amazed at how the people who I am supposed to meet and work with, through Divine’s help, find me.  It is an excellent reminder at the power of Divine’s spirit and my ability to work with it to manifest the healing practice I desire for my life.  I am not in this for numbers.  I do not care if I reach millions of people.  I care that I reach the people who Divine wants for me to meet, the people who need to work specifically with me.  That is my goal, to meet the people I can help the most.  I’m so grateful I followed Father God’s message and completed the site and all the blogs I was told to write.  What if I had not written the Frog Totem blog?  I would have missed out on an amazing friendship. No, Divine has a way of hooking us up anyway.  But, it’s a very nice story of how we met and I much prefer it.  I’ll keep listening and keep writing.  I hope you read.

The statistics are below if you still want to read those.  Find out what my five most popular blogs were this year.

Artemis Protecting Us As We Prepare to Birth a New Vibration of Energy

By Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki

This message has been coming through from my guides lately and my clients’ guides. It is linked to a message for women that I received and blogged about before at Healing the Solar Plexus and Self Love.   It’s a short blog and I suggest you read it again after this new blog.  The self empowerment messages in the blog particularly are important.  The messages from each of these blogs connect to each other.  I asked my guides today, “What message do you want me to post on this big day, 12-12-12?”  This was the answer.

Holding Space

Goddess Mabon
Goddess Mabon, I used this photo in my Solar Plexus blog but my guides wanted me to use it again.

Many of us have been in waiting, holding space, preparing.  But, for what?  We have been waiting patiently for direction, waiting in faith that the answer will come and we will know what to do.   If what I write here feels right to you then do it.  This is the message I have gotten and I will do it.  Many will without even reading this, automatically, intuitively they will sit in meditation and do this.

Women Around the World Unite

Women all over this planet have signed up to participate in this birthing process much before we came to Earth.  We came from all over to help with this process.  Divine works with our grounded earth energies by us being on the planet and having a very different vibration because of being here.  Divine uses this to help bring in this new energy.  In that way we are needed and participate by sitting in space for this energy to come in, to be birthed.

Re-birthing

Rebirthing the energy for earth
Re-birthing the energy for earth

We are all currently in a process of rebirth.   We are preparing to rebirth the earth energy right now.  We are preparing with many thousands of other women light-workers all over the earth who are holding space and preparing to do this with us.  Many of us are needed to do this, to usher in the energy that is coming.  These women play a vital role in this process and many of them have come to earth at this time just to do this.  When I sit in meditation and FEEL the energy of this group of women it feels like a sorority, which means “sisterhood.” We all chose this before we came, we chose to do this together and all are needed in order to follow though with the process and our path.  Some will chose to go home after this process and some will stay to continue helping the earth with other tasks.  Mother Nature is at the head of this sisterhood of women and she is aiding and guiding us in any way she can to help us to know what to do.  (more on that later)

Women and the Birthing Process

Mother Nature pregnant with the earth
Mother Nature pregnant with the earth

Women have been chosen for this process because it is our God-given natural ability to birth, not just babies, but energy and love as well.  Any soul can come to earth and chose to be a woman at this time to do this and many have. There are many reasons we choose to be male or female and giving birth, the experience of creation and nurturing, is one of those reasons.  It is an amazing gift because we are in Divine’s mirrored power of creation when we participate in this beautiful and amazing gift to the planet.  The ability to create, bring forth something totally and completely new and different is a huge undertaking and an even bigger blessing to each and every one of us.  Many of the women in this sorority have been mothers in this life and/or many other lives.  It is a part of our soul to birth and go through the birthing process as a part of preparing for this day as well as learning from the experiences.  We have prepared and we are ready.  Now what?

What do we DO Now?

"Mother Nature Speaks Her Truth" by Roger Kirk Nelson
“Mother Nature Speaks Her Truth” by Roger Kirk Nelson

Mother Nature wants us to all gather together and meditate before December 21 to the 25th, 2012.  Meditate visualizing the other ladies in the sisterhood in a circle together with us.  Visualize all of our hearts connecting with all the other women and Mother Nature in the middle helping and guiding us along the way.  She wants us to SEE ourselves connecting to each other, working together for this process.  We need to do this while holding the intention of bringing forth this new vibration of energy to the earth.  The more we do this meditation and visualize the other women, Mother Nature and the earth as well the more we will get messages about what else we need to do.  for some just being may be enough.  Being in a place of Love and Light and allowing may be enough.  Each person will get individual messages to listen to and follow though with.

Artemis Protecting Us

Artemis, Greek Goddess of the New Moon
Artemis, Greek Goddess of the New Moon, she looks a little wilder to me, like the photo above with the hair flying all around. But, I thought this one was beautiful.

I was meditating today and a new guide came to me to work at my crown chakra area.  I’ve been doing a lot of healing on my top three chakras lately with the help of fall head colds.  This new guide came to me and introduced herself as Artemis and also said Artemisia, which is a plant.   I think she knew I would ‘know’ where to do my research if I had both words together as I always do research when I receive a new guide.  This guide was tall with long flowing greek like white robes.  When I do research I do it to receive left brain information to add to my right brain intuition.  Here is what I got on the internet that spoke to me.

Left Brain Info on Artemis

Taken from Susan Weed’s Herbal website

“Artemis is Apollo’s sister, and Queen of the witches. She is the goddess of the moon, the herbalist, the midwife, the birthing woman, and the hunter. Artemis is an untamed wild woman who runs free with the deer and the hounds. She is the woman who runs with the wolves. She is “Mother of all Creatures.” “Leader of the Sacred Bitches.” “Great She-Bear.” She is owned by no man, and thus she is “Forever Virgin.” And the plants named after her share her qualities.

If you see an Artemisia growing beside the door — or painted on it — you’ve arrived at the home of a herbalist or a midwife, a home guarded by Artemis.”

Right Brain info on Artemis

Intuitively what I got from this passage is that Artemis is the guardian goddess for all the women in the sorority and will be with us though this change protecting us along the way.  Include her in your meditations and prayers and thank her for coming to help us at this time.  Communicate with her and get any more information about what we can do to help bring forth this energy at this time.  When I visualize the circle of women with Mother Nature in the center I see Artemis all around the outside of the group circling us, protecting us as we join our hearts as one.  She feels beautiful, gentle yet powerful.  She is an amazing Goddess of feminine power and can be called on for many other uses; animals and wildlife, camping and hiking, children, environmentalism, fertility, conception and adoption, and increasing and honoring intuition.  Feel free to call on her.  Remember to say thank you.

And, a BIG Thank You to YOU for reading and following.  Look to the right of my blog to join my Facebook community.  We’d love to have you.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about visualizations and messages.

Reiki Quick Tip – Judge and Jury

By Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki

Faceless Judge

I’ve heard a lot of people lately saying “I don’t like them” about another person or even group of people.  I’m more acutely aware of this because I’ve been working on this myself lately -JUDGEMENT.  Yes, it’s a big one for me.  How about you?  Would you admit to judging others?

Most people do but rarely want to admit it, even to themselves, especially to themselves.  But, if we stay with judgement there is no room for learning or love.  See, we are both judge AND jury, but really only for ourselves.  It is not our place to judge others.  Each person does that for themselves.  But, when we judge others, we are actually judging ourselves.  Every single person even animals are mirrors for each of us to learn from.  But, if we stay asleep, stay in a place of judgement, pointing fingers, we never learn what we need to in order to progress spiritually.

Pointing fingers is a form of judgement, but usually of yourself

So, HOW do we work on this area of ourselves?  Easy, with Reiki of course!

Here is a process I use and it works great.  Always feel free to add or delete parts of my processes that don’t feel right to you and add in parts that do feel right.  Make it your own.  Feel free to lovingly comment here if you add something that works great for you.

HOW TO CHANGE JUDGEMENT INTO SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION

We judge so we can learn about ourselves. See it differently and it will BE different.
  1. Catch yourself in a judgement –  For example, “I don’t like them.”  Stop, catch yourself in the mode of judging.  Acknowledge that you are judging but without judging yourself.
  2. Ask the right questions –  Why do I not like them?” or “What is it about them that bothers me so much?”
  3. Answer honestly – Don’t be afraid of the answer because it may not even apply anymore.  It may be from your past or even a past life.  Most of the time it no longer applies but because we haven’t worked through the real issue, it’s still there.  “Wow, I don’t like them because they seem like kind of a push over, they don’t seem to stand up for themselves.
  4. Look in the mirror – How does this apply to you?  “When I was young I got bullied and I didn’t stand up for myself.  I was scared and did nothing.  I hate that I didn’t stand up for myself and others.  But, I’ve worked though that and don’t do that anymore.  I stand up for myself and my friends and family and feel much more confident.”
  5. Heal the situation – Now having more insight into the situation you can now heal it for you and the other person as well.  Even if you have not worked on the issue at all, sending healing is the best way to deal with it and move forward.

The Reiki Process

Artwork by Durga Lael Bernhard ,
  1. Get your Reiki started and if you are a Reiki II or above, chant the symbols that you feel will be needed here.  (I would use all three Reiki II symbols because they cover different aspects that are usually involved including the long distance symbol in case this is a past and very old issue.)
  2. Visualize your self at the original time frame of the situation in the palm of your hands getting bathed by the Reiki running out your palm chakras.  Include the person you thought you were judging as well.  (Send them love and Reiki healing, they were a mirror for you.)
  3. Hold the intention that ALL situations regarding this judgement are being healed as well, even if you don’t consciously remember them.
  4. Having new knowledge of the situation, send Reiki Love to the situation and the judgement you had with the intention of healing it, for as long as you need to.  If this is a big issue for you, you may want to do this multiple times a day for a week or at least once a day for a week.  5 minutes each session should be enough.  Do it at the same time each day when you won’t be disturbed, like right before bed time.
  5. Many times acknowledging the situation and bringing it to the forefront of your mind (out of the subconscious mind and into the conscious mind) does much of the healing for you mentally.  But, running Reiki energy, getting healing and help from Divine Source helps to heal you spiritually and emotionally.

  1. FEEL the Love and Light bathing the judgement, bathing you and everyone involved.  This process opens up your heart chakra allowing the healing to get to all the chakras that have been involved in the situation.  Opening the heart chakra AND holding the intention that you wish to heal this situation will allow healing to take place on all levels.  FEELING the emotion and LOVE is important.
  2. Practice the process as often as possible.  Pretty soon it will become a very positive habit and you will be loving everyone, especially yourself.

Give it a try.  Please let me know how it goes for you.  The HOW is only part of the process.  The DOING is up to you.

Throat Chakra/Thyroid Healing

By Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki

“I have hope, I feel elated and full of light.”

In general I believe in cleansing and healing daily ALL chakras to keep them clear and balanced.  But, quite often through our healing journey we find that we are working a bit harder on a particular chakra at that time in our lives.  Do not ignore the other major chakras, but it’s good to give a little extra attention to those chakras that you are feeling very strongly need your help.

Throat Chakra Indications

It usually happens quite naturally, as you will notice that all of a sudden BLUE is now your favorite color for clothes, jewelry, game playing pieces and such, when usually you’re a green person.  This is a good sign that you are clearing issues with your throat chakra.  You will also find that you all of a sudden are being challenged with communication issues, verbally, mentally, emotionally and even electronically.  The Universe will offer you great learning opportunities for working through your throat chakra issues, like relationships that need talking through, clearer communication at work or sore throats for a whole season or even for years of seasons.  Another is, when you all of  a sudden find out that you have a physical illness in a particular area of a chakra, such as the thyroid.  A thyroid disorder is a clear indication of throat chakra issues that have been going on for a long time without resolve.  Maybe you are healing lifetimes of issues.  Time to heal those for good.  If you have become aware of them, then THIS is the time for you to heal them.  You are now awake to these issues, you cannot ignore them anymore.

How to Heal Your Throat Chakra Issues

Tip: Run Reiki with and before any healing modality to surround yourself with the power, protection and support of the Reiki healing energy.  Healing comes in many varieties and Reiki can aid you in all of them.

Lapis heart to love and heal the throat chakra. Lovely.
  • Run Reiki on your throat chakra daily, or twice daily if you have the time.  (Giving this area special attention and INTENTION will help to focus the healing and thus make it stronger and faster.)
  • Journal, blog, write poetry or song.  (Writing is a form of creative communication and can be extremely healing for your throat chakra.)
  • Sit in meditation and visualize stunning clear blue light cleaning, healing and balancing your throat chakra.
  • Wear blue stones to help heal the area.  Choose one YOU are drawn to.  (Throat Chakra stones fairly easy to find: Lapis Lazuli, aquamarine, turquoise, sodalite, blue lace agate, blue kyanite, blue calcite, chrysocolla, amazonite, blue argonite, tanzanite, larimar, hemimorphite, blue halite, celestial aura quartz, blue tourmaline.)
  • Repeat an affirmation that makes sense to YOU and feels right to YOU. Here is the one I use “I have hope, I feel elated and full of light.”
  • Use special essential oils prepared for your throat chakra. (Such as: frankincense, rose, jasmine, rosewood, elemi, sandalwood, neroli and ylang ylang)
Listen to your body and your guides. Face your communication fears and before you know it you’ll have a very happy Blue Throat Chakra!
  • Pray and heal with Divine Source and your spirit guides.  (Ask Divine Source to send you the Highest Spiritual Order of throat chakra healing Masters to help you and give you guidance as to how to heal you.  Then listen. Listening is the hard part.)
  • Play with your nature spirits. (Place a plant next to your bed at night and ask Divine Source to send healing fairies to help heal your throat chakra.  When you ask, they will come. )
  • Listen to your body.  Most of all, listen to your body and when those learning situations come up in life, don’t back down, use them as an opportunity to expand and heal yourself.  Face your fears.  Soon enough you will move onto another color and another chakra, one at a time.  That’s how it’s done.

August 2012 – Messages from my Guides

Messages from my guides

By Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki

While talking and doing a reading with a dear friend and client yesterday some information came though that I felt would be helpful to many of us who have been really feeling the pressure of the energy coming down on us the last few months.  Many of my clients, students and even friends have been commenting to me that they are crying a lot, down, depressed, unmotivated and don’t really know why.

I’ve addressed this before in blogs and Facebook posts but got new information this week.  In short, we are cleansing a lot of old lifetimes of energy.  All in a very short period of time.  Ascension is happening right now, and we must let go of a lot of the old in order to make room for the new.  THE CRUNCH as it feels to many of us.  The Universal Energy is helping us with this process and we can cry, talk to friends, meditate, do Reiki on ourselves, bathe ourselves in Love and Light and all the spiritual rituals we have learned to help us though.

Spend more time with pets, giving and receiving love.

However, the message I got yesterday was loud and clear, JOY!!  DO something every day that brings you joy.  Every time you feel down or want to cry, think of something you can do right then that will bring you joy.  Set a new standard for your daily life with HAPPINESS!  This is something special, something just for you.  This is about no one but YOU and YOUR JOY!

An Example

Singing in the shower is a GREAT way to start the day. Singing happy songs raises your vibration, confidence and helps to keep the healthy boundaries strong all around you.

I finished a reading last week and was driving home from the clients’ house.  All of a sudden I felt the extreme need to sing gospel.  I love gospel music but only know the words of a few songs, so I started singing as loud as I could.  It did not sound so great, but that was not the point at all.  It was a huge release.  I sang the songs I knew, rewrote the words, wrote new songs and just kept singing them.  After about forty minutes of this I felt much better and was almost home.  It was just for me and the release I needed at that moment.  My love of the music and creating new words filled me with Love and Light and JOY!  Because I listened to my guides and sang I was able to release energy that otherwise may have stayed and festered if I hadn’t listened to my guidance.  IT IS TIME TO LISTEN AND TAKE ACTION ON WHAT YOUR GUIDES AND YOUR HIGER SELF ARE TELLING YOU!!

What Did You Enjoy as a Child?

Do something you haven’t done in a long time and don’t remember why you stopped doing it.  I’ve started getting visions recently of things I used to do as a kid and enjoyed very much, like photography and architecture.  My guides want me to do those things NOW and find JOY once again.

Take a class in something you have been interested in like Reiki, crystals and stones healing, music lessons, knitting, ANYTHING YOU FEEL DRAWN TO!

Bringing in more joy daily will allow us to heal and move on from the old emotions, old pain and old past life energy that we no longer need.  We need to replace them with new action, new joy and new memories.  WHAT IS JOYFUL TO YOU??  Singing, music, dancing, games, cuddling with pets or kids, parties, meditation, doing Reiki on yourself or others, walks on the beach, time in your garden, think of joyful activities for YOU and YOU alone.

THIS IS THE TIME TO REMEMBER WHAT BRINGS YOU JOY

Go to the beach with friends, have a bon fire, sing or dance in the moonlight.

I’m going to start a photography class again and begin drawing up plans for a renovation that we can’t afford yet but want to manifest soon.  As a kid I used to draw up plans for houses and thought of becoming an architect.  I spent hours and hours drawing up homes just for fun.  I’m going to do this now to help us manifest this addition to our home sooner than we would expect.  (I am excellent at manifesting!)

WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW THAT WILL BRING YOU JOY?  Share here if you feel safe to.  There are no wrong answers to this one.

In Love and Light,

Josslyn

My First Colonic and Day 3- Warning, Mild Poop Talk

Sixth in a series written by Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki about Nutritional Healing and Juicing.

Click on Blog 1 A Sensitive System, Blog 2 The Cleanse, Blog 3 The Pre-Cleanse , Blog 4 Reboot My Life Day 1, Blog 5  Favorite Recipes from the Reboot Day 2.

My First Colonic

For those of you who are sensitive to poop talk then please do not read any further.  For those of you who would like to improve your health and think a colonic may be a part of that, then read on.  I only include this part of my cleanse in the hopes that it helps others along their journey to health.  I wouldn’t include it if I didn’t feel it was important in some way.

Colon Hydrotherapy Recommended

My colon is unhappy, is yours?

As part of the fruit and vegetable cleanse I am doing, my Naturopathic doctor, Dr. Ruth Urand, recommended I do one colon hydrotherapy a week for at least five weeks.  She said this would help the cleanse along and make it easier for me and my body.  That sounded good to me, but I had never had a colonic before and was a little freaked out about it.  However, after my Medical Intuitive, Candia Sanders, also recommended colonics during a reading recently, I just figured I’d have to add it to the list of things to do for my health.  I trust Candia and my doctor so I went for it.  I’ve read about them in the past and know they are supposed to be really good for our health but didn’t really know how or why.  Read about the WHY  to do a colon cleanse down below.

The Colonic

Right off the bat, I’ll tell you, it was completely tolerable.  In fact, there were parts of it that were quite comfortable.   The colonic lasts longer than a PAP but is not as bad.  (My women friends will know what that means.)  I’ve read of other people’s experience’s being pretty bad but I had a very good experience.  Some of this I attribute to my doctor who did it herself and was very gentle and kind.  Some I attribute to my body which has always been quite regular, never constipated, and the rest I attribute to my already very healthy diet.  From the reading I did to educate myself on the process of getting a colon hydrotherapy session, it seems, the healthier your diet going into the colonic, the easier time you will have.  The more blocked up your colon is with processed foods, meats and toxins, the harder the process will be both during and after.  I had some slight tenderness in my stomach area after but that is all.  No issues at all.

During the Colon Hydrotherapy Session

This machine is similar to the one used with my colon hydrotherapy. The clear tube in the middle helps you to view the feces moving out the out tube.

Yes, they put a speculum up you behind area.  Yes, they shoot warm water in one tube and the feces comes out the other tube.  I somehow found the process fascinating.  The warm water part, for me, felt nice.  I felt cleaner afterwards.  That felt good.  My doctor was able to stop some of the outgoing feces in a clear tube and investigate it.  She was able to identify some of what I had eaten.  Even some of the beets and apples I had been juicing, she could still tell what it was.  Amazing.  We both were able to see one whole in tact slice of almond I had eaten on a salad.  She said this told her that, one, I need to chew slower and better and two, I don’t have enough stomach acid to help break down my food.  We will tackle the acid issue after the cleanse she said. I think intuitively I knew that I haven’t had enough stomach acid since I can’t eat beef and haven’t been able to since I was 24 years old.  But, I didn’t know there was something she could do to help my body start making more.  See, I learned something very important for my body.  And, it didn’t even seem gross or weird that we were sitting here with tubes up my butt and looking closely at my poop.  Interesting.

The clear output tube with feces flowing through to study it for unhealthy parasites, food items, or other clues to an unhealthy colon.

My Goal to Having Colonics

Having colonics goes along with one of my main goals for this cleanse, to detox my bowels and liver in order for my body to be able to heal itself and take in nutrients from the healthy fruits and vegetables that I eat.  (Read my other goals in my blog The Cleanse.)  My goals are the same as many people who have colonics where the overall goal is to clear the colon of large quantities of stagnant, possibly toxic wast that gets encrusted on colon walls.  When this is done, the body no longer has to deal with wastes accumulated during a lifetime, and can use more of its own strength to heal itself and fight disease.  Other goals also  include:

  • Improving mental outlook
  • Improving the immune system
  • Losing weight
  • Reducing the risk of colon cancer

“Scientific research in both America and Europe have demonstrated that people in the richer nations carry within their bodies anywhere from 10 to 50 pounds of accumulated toxic materials. Although this material is stored throughout the body, the majority of it is stored in the colon.” The Koyfman Center

Day 3 of The Cleanse, Pray!

View Day 3 as a sign that the cleanse is working and your body will be healthier after you are done with the whole process. Be GRATEFUL that you body wants to work in a healthy manner for you.

Since we are talking poop talk in this blog, lets just get it all over with.  Lets talk about day three of the cleanse.  YOU will be on the potty a lot!  For both reasons.  A lot!  That is how you know you are detoxing.  Use intention with all that time you have.  Each time I’m on the toilet, I close my eyes, clear my head, and I thank my body and Divine Source for helping me to heal and for helping me LET GO of everything that is not helping me.  Adding INTENTION to the cleanse process is of utmost importance to having a successful cleanse.  Divine Source listens to all of our prayers and gratitude and so does our own personal unique energy system.  The more we are grateful for our body being healthy the more our body will respond in that fashion.  The more our body and spirit know what we want and are grateful for it, it will help us along all the faster.

Ginger tea can help your body cleanse in a natural way or along with the colonic and fruit and vegetable cleanse you choose.

The nutritionist at Join the Reboot says some diarrhea or constipation is normal but if it continues to consult your doctor.  She also gives options to help with either diarrhea or constipation during the reboot.  The support team offers a lot of good information and helpful hints along the way.  So far I’m very impressed with their diet plans, meals and helpful hints.

The History of Colon Hydrotherapy

by Colon Hydrotherapy AZ

If you are not experiencing a bowel movement for each meal, you are storing that meal in your colon!

The benefits of colon cleansing, or colonic irrigation have long been known and practiced since 1500 BC. An early Egyptian medical document called the “Ether Papyrus”. Hippocrates (4th and 5th century BC.) was a proponent of colon cleansing for fever therapy.

Blockages in the colon.

In the early 20th century, Dr. Kellogg published a comprehensive approach to colon hydrotherapy which he advocated for use in treating many conditions such as liver toxicity, surgical shock, colitis and cholera. Before the advent of more modern medical techniques, many medical and health practitioners shared the philosophy that abnormal functioning of the intestinal canal was at the root of poor health and chronic disease.
Colon Hydrotherapy is a time-tested ancient method of treatment dating back to the Egyptian and Greek civilizations. Ancient Egyptians were one of the earliest known cultures to regularly use colon hydrotherapy for medicinal purposes.

Today’s colon hydrotherapy has come a long way from using the ancient techniques, however the benefits of this relaxing therapy has only increased and become more necessary.

There are also over the counter supplements to help with cleansing the colon, as well as, laxatives and enemas. These are an example, I am not supporting these products.

Do you ever wonder what happens to that meal you did not eliminate?

If you are not experiencing a bowel movement for each meal, you are storing that meal in your colon!

Is Your Sunday Dinner Still in Your Gut the Following Friday?
The average American has only about three bowel movements a week. A healthy person with a good diet and proper elimination should have three bowel movements a day.

If you are having only a few bowel movements a week, at the end of one week, you are 18 bowel movements short! By the end of the month, you are 72 bowel movements behind. By the end of the year, you are 864 bowel movements behind (and storing all of that in your colon).

Death Begins in a Clogged Colon
It’s no wonder the body starts to break down and become diseased.

Let’s face it — if your infant or young child was not having regular bowel movements, would you be concerned? If your pet dog did not have daily bowel movements, would you bring your pet to the veterinarian? So why then, do American adults think it is ‘normal’ for them to only have a few bowel movements in one week?

Drinking filtered water all day long is critical to colon health.

Some interesting facts:

  • 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
  • In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is over mistaken for hunger.
  • Mild dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 3%.
  • One glass of water stopped midnight hunger pains for almost 100% of the dieters in a University of Washington study.
  • Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
  • Some research shows that 8-10 glasses of water a day can significantly ease back and joint pain for many sufferers.
  • Just a 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, and difficulty focusing.

What are the benefits of Colonic Hydrotherapy

Many modern-day food products are known to be contaminated with chemicals, hormones, toxins and the like, and this combined with our bad eating habits generally can cause toxins to accumulate within our body which can reduce our natural defences against disease and immunity to illnesses.

Basic health begins with colon care.  Eliminating undigested food particles, glandular and cellular debris, excess mucus, gas and parasites play an essential part in the digestive and assimilative process.

Parasites removed during a colon cleanse.

Due to technologies of food processing — the use of preservatives, pesticides, herbicides, and chemical and hormonal food additives the need for cleansing the colon has never been greater.  Many of these toxins are reabsorbed into the bloodstream, lymph, liver, and nervous system, thus straining and eventually weakening the body’s defense against viruses and foreign bacteria.

The result is a breakdown which affects the body as a whole.  An increased toxic load contributes to the problems associated with the colon: constipation, toxemia, colitis, diarrhea, skin blemishes, low back pain, and headaches ect.

Colonic irrigation helps to clean out the accumulation of stagnant toxin-producing matter in the colon pockets and keep the colon muscles toned.  Improved muscle tone of the colon allows for the efficient removal of waste products from the body.  Purification of the systems of the body helps restore internal balance and overall health.

What can Colonic hydrotherapy Help With ?

  • Lifting of spirits
  • Bad breath
  • Improved sleep
  • Colitis and flatulence
  • Bloating and constipation
  • Improved weight control
  • Improved skin condition
  • Improved sex drive
  • Balancing of mood swings
  • Toxic headaches
  • Painful hemorrhoids
  • Improved digestion
  • Decrease in heartburn and indigestion

The Pre-Cleanse

Pre-Cleanse

I have been doing a pre-cleanse to get ready for the full 10 day fruit and veggie cleanse.  I got a lot of my pre–cleanse recipes from My Juice Cleanse.  It is a great site with free recipes and helpful articles.  They helped me with a lot of my early research too.  It is recommended to do a pre-cleanse to get the most results from your cleanse that the week before you start the cleanse to do certain things to prepare.  Here is what they recommend from the Reboot Your Life website:

  • Say goodbye to: processed junk foods, white flours, sugar/desserts, fried food, fast food, processed meats, alcohol and begin to wean yourself off caffeine.
  • Say hello to: salads, soups, smoothies with a variety of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, natural nut butters, beans and legumes.
The food pyramid I’m working off of but with actually less breads and cereals as my body does not really want them. My body wants it’s carbs from vegetables. Every body is different. Learn to listen to YOUR BODY,
  • Transitioning off animal proteins: choose wild-caught fish, organic eggs and gradually decrease poultry during the week and choose only organic varieties when you eat them. By last day of the week, your protein should come solely from plant sources such as beans, nuts, and legumes (for example, black beans, hummis, chick-peas, lentils).
  • Transitioning off dairy: choose only low or non-fat organic dairy with little to no added sugars. If you choose soy, rice or almond milk, have unflavored/plain to limit the sugar content. Choose organic cheese, and transition from cow’s milk cheese to goat cheese by the middle of the week. By the end of the week (day 5) all dairy should be out of your diet to prepare for the Reboot.

This cleanse is fruits and veggies with no dairy, meats, breads or cereals.  This Pre-Cleanse gets you ready for the full cleanse and makes the cleanse easier on you emotionally and physically.  I feel it working.

My Results of the Pre-Cleanse

I started the full cleanse today.  While talking to a friend on the phone about how I’m feeling today, starting the full cleanse, I realized how much progress I’ve made already.  Just by doing the pre-cleanse I have altered thought processes that are critical to my success.  I’ve started being much more discerning about what I eat FOR MY BODY, not my emotions.  When I’m wanting to grab something fast and easy like a cheese stick, I automatically stop, and I start thinking “hmm, if I eat this, I’ll then have to spend time and energy making sure it gets released completely from my body system.  (The colonic helped with this too.  More on that later.)  Do I want this badly enough to do that extra work and to make my body work that hard.”  WOW, this is a huge difference from “I’m hungry, I need to eat something quick and easy now.”  Or from my typical emotional response, “I need some cheese, or I need some chips and salsa. Nothing else will satisfy me.”  Just by doing the pre-cleanse WITH INTENTIONS and GOALS I have started shifting my energy system enough to create major change in my mental thought processes and belief systems.  This is huge for me.  I’m more concerned about the health of my body than I am making my inner child happy with food.

Energy to Do What I Need to Do

I also noticed yesterday, for the first time in years, I had a full and busy day with a lot of driving to get to my doctor for my colonic and then the kids to their doctors in a whole other city, literally 3 to 4 hours of driving.  Usually driving wears me out for the whole day and I’m resting up from it rather than being productive.  Yesterday I did all the driving, a colonic for the first time, doctors appointments for my kids, shopping for my cleanse and dinner for my family and I still was going at the end of the day.  WOW, for me, chronic fatigue for seventeen years, this was a massive change.  THIS gave me a great deal of hope and confidence that this cleanse is truly going to change my life.

The Pre-Work

Meditation, I have found, is THE best way to raise your vibration, work on your emotional patterns, change your subconscious belief systems and connect with your higher self. Plus it’s relative easy to learn, the trick is to DO IT! As with anything, practice makes better!

The pre-work is different from the pre-cleanse.  I’ve been doing the pre-work for months now, probably years.  I’ve been meditating, doing Reiki, working with Naturopaths and healers to help me get to this point.  I’ve worked with hypnotherapists and most recently an MFCC who does Energy Psychology (a mix of Donna Eden’s energy work and Emotional Freedom Technique) to rewrite the beliefs in my subconscious mind.  ALL of this has helped me to get ready for TODAY.  All of this has helped me to be ready, really ready to give up the belief systems, the dairy and the old eating patterns to the point where I KNOW deep down that I will be successful, for a lifetime.

Real Life Example

For example.  With the energy psychology this week we worked on belief patterns that I didn’t believe I could be successful with the cleanse AND be healthy too.  This went along with another belief that I had, I believed I needed lots of food and lots of dairy or animal protein in particular in order to stay alive.  These were not rational thoughts because my rational mind (10%) does not agree with these thoughts.  However, my subconscious mind (90%) does believe them and therefore that is what I follow, knowing it or not.  Now I know it, and have worked on it and released it.  I did this by tapping on my meridian systems with the EFT process.

I was ill from malnourishment in many lives.

It turns out as I was tapping on these beliefs I was able to watch and see the past lives that these beliefs came from.  I had five past lives where I was starving to death but only actually died in one of them.  The other lives I just got very ill and was not able to care for my family.  My soul held on to the belief that I got sick from not having enough to eat, enough protein.  That is how our minds work sometimes.  I had to hold on to those beliefs until I could understand them, learn from them and then release them.  Now that I have done that, I can truly change.  I am changing my eating habits permanently.  And that is what it takes to truly reboot your life.  It feels good and it feels good to share this with my friends, clients, students and internet readers.  I pray this helps to motivate some of you to reboot your life too.

Working on your mind, your subconscious belief pattern are in my opinion, one of the first places to start before you start any diet or healthy new way of eating. Work on those first and the rest will stick.

Got to Be Ready

Don’t rush into it, however.  Do the pre-work.  Do the research.  Do the mind work.  DO  until you are truly ready to do this for life.  These are big changes and I believe people need to be truly ready.  I also believe in order to be successful you need to do one major dietary change at a time.  If you do more you’ll most likely get overwhelmed and not stick with it for the long haul.  These are lifelong changes in eating, not temporary.  You have to be ready.  But, have no fear.  The energy is so strong for change this year that for those waking up, change is happening automatically and faster than usual.  THIS is a great time to make major changes like this with Divine Source along with you to help and guide.

I also recommend working with someone like me, or another spiritual support person to guide you and help you along the way with mental thought patterns, emotional addictions, issues of letting go, energy work, etc.  I’m not doing this alone, I don’t expect anyone to do it alone.  Gather your support team and do the FIRST dietary change YOU feel is more important for you.  That is how I have done it and that is how I’ve been able to be successful with each step, including this one.  I’m thinking ahead on that one.

Love and Light to you all,

Good Luck on YOUR personal challenges this month.  I’m here with you.

Congratulations New Reiki Kids!!

By Josslyn Streett

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our six new Reiki kids!

Saturday we had another Kids Reiki class.  Six children and their Reiki adults celebrated Divine Source Energy by learning about Reiki, the history of hands on healing and Reiki, Reiki spirit guides and animal guides, feeling energy, meditation, chakras, auras and much more.  Thank you to Tim, Jerica, Josiah, Lilly, Kayella and Makena for being so brave and loving as they learned something totally new.

Reiki kids excited about Reiki history!

Divine Source, God, Great Spirit and much more

We started the day talking about all the different names there are around the world for God and how they need to trust their own intuition to know what name feels right to them and their families.  The kids did their very first meditation to find their safe place and then each one shared what their safe place looked like to them.  Many of them saw power animals and spirit guides at their safe place.  I was encouraged with how well they did for their first time and how much they seemed to enjoy it.

The Reiki kids wrapped colored bandanas all around Amy to learn the location and color of each of the seven major chakras.

Chakra Rainbows

During our chakra and aura lesson we learned about the healing effects of color and how their energy is a rainbow of colors.  As an example we wrapped colored bandanas around my special Reiki helper, Amy Meyers, to show them the colors of each chakra and the placement.  It was a blast.

Magic Eye Art Project

Jerica with her magic eye art, beautiful!

While I did the individual attunements my Reiki assistants, Amy Meyers and Lauren Holloway both led a Magic Eye art project.  The kids made an almost, full sized mirror image of themselves using their magic eyes.  They closed their eyes to ‘see’ what they look like energetically and then created it on a large piece of paper with glitter, stickers, cut out pieces of paper, tissue paper, crayons and more.  As you can see from the photos they were extremely creative as well as intuitive.

Reiki I Attunements

While the kids worked on the art projects I was in the Reiki room doing attunements and Reiki guide readings.  Each child choose to be attuned to Reiki and each one had a different experience during the attunement.  Some felt tingles, some felt heat, some felt flowing or rocking movement while they were being attuned and some said they just felt love.  I appreciate how everyone feels and reacts to the energy differently.

Makena loves elephants and saw them as her power animal

Every attunement is different for me as well.  With some the energy comes in fast and ready like the child, some comes in slow and hesitant, others calm and peaceful, others come in happy and joyful, but each one feels full of love and creates a very humble feeling of gratitude in me.  I often tear up or even cry because I feel so incredibly grateful that Divine Source has entrusted this mission to me.  I feel so small in comparison and yet so spiritually powerful at the same time.  It is the most amazing feeling to give a Reiki attunement and especially to children.

With children I can often see or feel the immenseness of the ‘mission’ they have ahead of them in this life and feel how spiritually powerful THEY are.  These kids are amazing.  They have a big purpose in this life and a lot to do to prepare themselves.  I feel genuinely honored to be a small part of teaching these children about energy, our Divine and spiritual guides so they hopefully never lose that sense of wonder and that belief that miracles really are possible.  They will so need that as they grow up in this world and doing their best to create positive change.  It’s a huge calling and each time I do an attunement on a child, I am reassured that we are in good hands, that they are truly ready for this task ahead. A truly brilliant feeling.  Working with these amazing kids helps my faith grow each and every time.  What a blessing.

Kayella with her magic eye art, she saw birds as her power animal.

Feeling the Energy

After the attunement we practice FEELING the energy and healing with the Reiki.  Each child and adult makes an energy ball in their hands until they can feel the pressure of something there, something between their hands that is invisible but tangible at the same time.  Some say it feels hot, some tingly, some like a worm crawling in their fingers, but they all feel it.  Then we combine our energy balls and the children took turns standing in the middle of them inside one huge ball of Reiki.  That is always a highlight.  Sometimes we sing beautiful songs to help the energy feel stronger.  The more joy you feel the more the energy runs and the more likely you are to feel it on your body.  This is one of the kids favorite exercises and we do it as often as we can at Kids Reiki circle.

Perfect End to a Perfect Day

Each child receives a Reiki I certificate just like my adult students do but the kids’ certificates have gold stars on them. They are cool!

We handed out the certificates and the kids went home.  I always remind the Reiki adults that it is up to them to continue the Reiki training at home and support their Reiki kid by practicing with them as well as bringing them back once a month to Kids Reiki Circle.  Reinforcement and practice is key to each Reiki kid being confident in their practice and learning of energy.  I’m so excited to see where each of these kids go with their Reiki path.  The options are endless.

Love and Light to all of you wonderful Reiki kids, their parents and my Reiki helpers.  Thank you to each of you for entrusting me to this very important task!

If you are interested in your child taking a Kids’ Reiki class in the Sequim, WA area please call or email me and we’ll plan a class together.  If you are not in the Olympic Peninsula area but want to find a Kids’ Reiki class try Barbara McKells‘ website or talk to a Reiki Master in your area about starting a kids class.  Spread the word that Reiki and Kids go together better than peanut butter and jelly!

Spiritual Group? Anyone, Anyone?

“A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
Margaret Mead

A Spiritual Group

I was recently asked to be a part of a spiritual group that meets from time to time via conference call and once a year at an agreed upon location on the west coast usually.  It is a big commitment but also I felt it was a huge honor to be asked.  This group includes people of many different spiritual belief systems from all over the country.

The more people in a spiritual group, the more powerful the energy, connection to the energy and connection to Divine Source!

Priorities

Because I’m a mom first at this stage in my life by choice, I asked my family if they were willing to support me in the time it would take away from them, extra to the Reiki time that I spend with clients and circles.  They are very supportive of my passion for energy healing and helping others and know how much it means to me to be a part of this group of honored people which includes Shaman’s, energy workers, other Reiki Masters and more spiritually like-minded people.

Meditations

I’ve been with the group a month now and have participated in four conference calls so far.  On the conference call I attended yesterday, June 6th 2012 for the astrological events happening with Venus, we all meditated together on the phone with the intention of a group healing for us as well as a healing for our earth.

Group Energy Amped Up

Kid’s Reiki Circle, before practicing Reiki we do our “Gassho” which is asking Divine Source to be with us and to send down the Reiki energy.

The energy in my Reiki room is great all the time because I focus on it a lot with the intention of healing energy and high vibrational Love and Light energy.  But with the group of spiritually minded people on the phone all with the same purpose, I felt the energy stronger than I had in a long time.  Probably since another group meditation that I had done with a very large group of people many years ago.  I felt the energy of each person in the room with me.  The energy gets amped up the more people we have all with the same intention.  It was decidedly powerful.

A Message

I got a clear message from Divine Source while in that meditative state.  Divine wants us to meet in collections of spiritual people and do this spiritual work together.  Divine wants us to meditate, do Reiki, pray, learn, cry and support each other as often as possible in groups.  This is the way to change our world, this is the way to raise our vibrations faster, sooner.  This is how to truly make a difference in our lives, the earth and everyone around us, by connecting in groups of like-minded individuals consistently.  This is why I offer the Reiki circles twice a month and to children too, because I truly believe and have for a long while that the true way to make a difference in our world of reality is to work together in small, local grassroots types of organizations like our own little Reiki group here in Sequim, WA.

Where? How?

Find a colorful group that you feel comfortable in that has the same values and spiritual beliefs, then participate actively in your own evolution.

If you do not live on the Olympic Peninsula, then find a group in your area to join.  Put the intention out to Divine Source that you want such a group.  Look for a Reiki Master in your area and ask if they run such a group.  Meanwhile, find an on-line group to be a part of.  Join a Reiki Facebook page (Josslyn Streett, Reiki)  or other social networking site that consistently has a positive high vibrational and up lifting message and be a part of it.  Put yourself out there, try something new even if you are a little scared.  I believe you will find that your evolution goes faster, but will also be more rich and fulfilling along the way with spiritual friends along for the ride.

I often find other blogs or articles that say for me what I want to say but can’t seem to put into words.  I found this wonderful, easy to read and well written article about WHY to join a spiritual group, what to look for in a gathering and some tips on starting one of your own if spirit encourages you to do so.  Well worth the time to read it.

Enjoy!  And, I hope to see many of you at Reiki circle!

The Spiritual Group

By Inner Frontier

The truism that no person is an island applies in the spiritual arena even more than it does in the material. From the most ancient times, people have gathered in groups and communities to engage in spiritual practices addressing the Source of life, the Ineffable hidden beyond our senses. Monasteries and other spiritual communities bring seekers together to live in a protected and conducive environment. In lay or non-monastic environments, the work of the congregation, the sangha, the minyan, and the halka offer spiritual brotherhood and sisterhood within the context of life in the greater community.

Why has this always been the case? Primarily because the spiritual community or group multiplies, empowers, and reinforces the efforts of the individual. Meditation, prayer and other practices, when pursued in a group or community, qualitatively and quantitatively magnify what each person can offer and experience. The coalescence of the group into a shared will and shared consciousness in communal practice creates a greater spiritual whole that enhances individual possibilities. The vehicle of the spiritual group or community carries all its individual participants to far greater spiritual depths than they could typically reach on their own. The group serves as a container for energies and as a reminder of the sacred. Each person in the group or community helps all the others by their very presence and by their orientation toward the Divine, toward love.

In business and other life endeavors, people form alliances and partnerships to create much more than they possibly could by themselves. In the spiritual endeavor, the same holds. We can join forces, share our hearts’ search for the spirit, and help each other climb the mountain of transformation.

Nevertheless, spiritual groups and communities often succumb to pitfalls. Some principles to consider in the work of a spiritual group or community include the following.

1. Equality in Relation to the Divine

In the most basic sense, we are all beggars and beginners in the spiritual path. In the face of Divinity, we are all equal, equally children of the Will of the World. This bedrock principle must pervade the work of any spiritual group. Elders, teachers and those with more experience of the path, if their inner work has been rightly conducted, will, through their genuine humility and respect for others, exhibit an implicit assumption of equality in all their relationships, including with people in the spiritual group or community. We all serve the same Source.

2. Shared Vision

For a group to function well, the members must agree on the path and methods to be studied and followed. Without some commonality of technique and direction, the group will (or should) be short-lived.

3. Peer Group Versus Having a Leader

The question of leadership in a spiritual group raises complex and difficult issues. If there is to be a leader, it must be someone with consistently deeper experience in the path than the rest of the group; otherwise the leaderless peer group offers a more appropriate form. Kindness and non-attachment form two more qualities required in a group leader. Without these, history teaches us that spiritual leaders tend to grow abusive, emotionally, sexually, and financially, or they demand loyalty to themselves and their particular path rather than loyalty to the Divine and to the great community of all life. The leader must inspire trust in his or her goodwill, and confidence in his or her wisdom and knowledge of the path. Condescension, a patronizing attitude, an air of being special, abuse of power, arrogance, and insults do not characterize an effective spiritual leader, regardless of the pious justifications and excuses offered for such behavior. The essence of the role of the spiritual mentor is to share his or her passion for the path and to instill confidence in the possibility of realization.

More subtly, we can look at the leader’s role in terms of the three aspects of will: active, passive, and reconciling or synergistic. The great temptation of a spiritual leader is to play an active role, with the students being passive or receptive to the leader’s lead. This causes many, hard-to-recognize problems. It feeds the leader’s ego, as do the group members by fawning over him or her. Then the group builds an ego around the leader, instead of fostering humility. It robs initiative from the group members, for whom initiative in their own inner work is crucial. The group members become dependent upon the leader’s judgments of them, on the leader’s criticism or praise. This stifles real progress. A truly effective group fosters freedom and individuality in the group members, an individuality that forms the basis of service and surrender to the Divine.

The alternative to the active leader is the reconciling or synergistic leader, neither active nor passive, but both and more. Such a leader, in his or her being and in his or her teaching, points the way toward the Sacred, while leaving room for the group members to be active and work from their own initiative. The qualities of humility, lightness of touch, and non-judging, as well as a deep understanding of the spiritual path and a living, thriving connection to the Sacred characterize the ideal leader.

The leaderless peer group can operate by consensus. If the group spends time speaking about experiences and efforts in the path, then what each person shares must be treated with respect. If the members of the group analyze, criticize, offer advice, or make suggestions in response to another member, they risk poisoning the atmosphere of the group. For honesty and sincerity to prevail, an environment of trust and respect must be developed and protected. Peer group members should limit what they share to relating their own experiences and efforts, and not stray into playing the spiritual mentor. No one can do the spiritual work of another. Guidance, to be effective, must be asked for, not offered gratuitously. In a peer group, guidance can come from hearing the efforts, successes, and failures of the other members of the group.

Both forms, the peer group and the led group, have their place and can greatly accelerate the inner work of the members of the group. In the earlier stages of the path, having a leader offers important benefits. In the first years, we need to be taught the methods by someone who understands them. We need to be nudged back onto the path when we stray. We need to recognize the limits of our own understanding and be willing to ask for and receive guidance. This promotes humility and insulates us from that bane of spiritual work: arrogance. We also need confirmation of our understanding, so our confidence and self-reliance can grow. However, a led group requires a leader with the characteristics described above. Lacking such a person, the peer group can be an excellent alternative.

4. Frequency of Gathering

Living in a genuine spiritual community that works and practices together confers the blessings of a powerful, traditional way toward the spirit. Few of us, though, exhibit a willingness to become monks or nuns. Furthermore, living full-time in a spiritual community does not constitute the best approach for everyone. It depends on one’s temperament and style.

Retreats convey the advantages of life in a spiritual community on a temporary basis. Periodic retreats, in which we focus entirely on the work of presence, deepening awareness, and opening our heart, can prove enormously beneficial in reinvigorating our inner work.

In our normal life situation, a weekly group meeting, attended regularly, offers an external reminder, a source of energy, and a shared commitment, enabling us to maintain our practice in the face of life’s many distractions and pressures. In certain respects, this creates the ideal circumstance. We need great determination to continuously return to our practice in the midst of family, job, community, and other responsibilities. Life becomes our training ground. If our spiritual practice can flower within the challenge of normal life, our practice will grow strong indeed, our hearts open, and our lives transformed.

Practice in the special environment of a retreat or a spiritual community can usher us into deep experiences, tastes of the true spirit. Yet when we return to our normal life, those experiences gradually fade, while thankfully leaving a residue of purification and commitment. Practice in everyday life, however, can bring lasting transformation. Daily progress may not be as dramatic and rapid as during a retreat, but can be more permanent. Gradually, the path and our life merge, so that our life is our path, carrying us toward the opening of our hearts and the Great Source of All.

5. The Structure of the Group Meeting: Practice and Sharing

The spiritual group, to be effective, devotes time to both shared practice and shared discussion. A group which does not meditate, pray, or engage in some other collective spiritual practice misses the remarkable opportunity. Discussion alone, even of the most profound, heartfelt and weighty topics, rarely touches our soul. Discussion alone does not serve the transformation of energies and the purification of will in the way that shared practice can.

Group practice alone, however, may not illumine certain valuable details of the path. For this, the group needs shared discussion. The discussion, though, must not be solely theoretical: it should focus on the details of practice, how one actually practices, what obstacles one encounters, what helps, what experiments one tries, what new insights come, and so forth. If each person in the group describes such living details of their own spiritual efforts, every person in the group benefits thereby. Everyone can relate what the speaker articulates to their own life and path. A theoretical discussion of ideas rarely has such an impact.

Like every individual, each spiritual group or community is unique, and will have its own style, its own lifecycle. But all genuinely spiritual groups and communities support the transformation of their members and enable them to serve in a deeper way than would be possible on their own. If we are fortunate enough to participate in a spiritual group that suits our needs and our taste, well and good. If not, perhaps we can find one other person to share our practice with, forming a group of two. Otherwise, we do our best to pursue our spiritual practice on our own: for this also is possible and necessary. No one else can free us; no one else can do our inner work for us. But we can help each other.

Reiki Quick Tip – Find “Lost” Items

When you lose something you love it’s frustrating and can often be quite expensive if you feel you need to replace it.  It can also be frustrating and time-consuming if it’s something like your car keys and you are late for an appointment.  Sometimes we no longer needed the item and it was time to say goodbye anyway.  However, that can be a challenge of its own, letting go.  Maybe WE don’t feel it was time to say goodbye to that item.  Maybe WE still wanted that item.

“No, I Wanted That!”

I had this happen years ago with a ring that my husband had given to me BEFORE I had Reiki in my life.  Luckily it was not an expensive ring but it was dear to me and I wanted to keep it.  For about a year I’d been having difficulty wearing it.  My skin had suddenly started  peeling and flaking under the gold band.  I would take it off at night and do all sorts of lotions and oils to help but it just continued.  My body had created an allergy to the fillers in the gold is what I was told.      But I didn’t want to stop wearing the ring my husband had given me.  So I kept wearing it.  One day, I took the ring off to put lotion on.  When I came back to the room, it was gone and has been gone ever since.   I searched and searched and searched.  I never found the ring.  We checked the plumbing, no where.  Now, looking back, I see the signs.  The ring was no longer vibrating with who I was but I didn’t listen.

“Really, Another Life Lesson? When Will They STOP!?”

In most situations in life, even losing our keys, there is a lesson we need to learn.   Maybe we need to learn to detach from material things.  Maybe we need to learn to listen to our bodies as to what is no longer good for us.  Maybe we need to allow ourselves to let go of a person, relationship or situation!?  Maybe we need to slow down, take more care in our daily activities and not try to do too much at once (Uh huh, lost your keys lately? LOL) .  Maybe we are out of balance with our environment and we need to listen to it.  Listening is the first step to finding a lost item that has importance to you.

Steps to Finding a Lost Item

Quite often, if we calm down, listen and learn from a lost item, it is our best chance to be brought back to it. Here are the steps I take with Reiki help, if I want to find a lost item that has meaning to me.

Sometimes this is a quick process and other times it will take more effort.  It’s up to you to decide which is needed depending upon what you are trying to find.

  1. First, calm down.  Do some deep breathing if need be.  Your mind must be calm in order to receive Highest Guidance.
  2. Listen to the situation.  Any Reiki level can do this.  Do your gassho, sit in meditation or for a quickie,  hold intention while you are showering that you will receive information about the situation with your lost item to help you understand what is going on.  I do some of my best intuitive work in the shower with the water flowing over my crown chakra.  (Always ask Divine Source to be with you when you do any spiritual work.)
  3. Don’t be afraid to look in the mirror, so to speak, and face the issue you are dealing with.  (For instance, for me and my ring, I was not listening to what was best for my body AND I was not willing to detach from a material object emotionally or physically.)
  4. Take action.  When you get an insight as to what the issue is with the lost item, take action to change the situation before the universe does it for you.  The universe will always find a way to balance itself, even if you won’t.
  5. Then you can start looking for the item you have lost.
  6. Sit in Gassho, prayer position, to connect to the Reiki and set intentions.  Bring in your Reiki guides of the Highest Order.
  7. Use the long distance Reiki II symbol (HSZSN) OR if you are Reiki I, the intention of finding the lost object.  If you feel there is an emotional component to the item add the Mental/Emotional Symbol (SHK) as well.    Hold the intention that the Reiki is finding the lost object AND healing your issue at the same time.
  8. Trust in Divine Source to find it for you when you least expect it or to give you a mental message or image as to where to look for it.
  9. Give it time to be found or for you to get a message.  Repeat in a few days to repeat your intention to Divine if you do not find it when you want to.
  10. If you do not find it, it was no longer yours.  Harsh, but true.
