With Thanksgiving quickly approaching I felt inspired to share my family’s favorite pumpkin bread recipe. A friend back in California shared this with us when my boys were very little. We made it that first year and everyone loved it, so much we started making it for our neighbors, mailman and friends who would come over. It’s magic this pumpkin bread recipe. The grumpiest mail man in the world turned into the nicest mail man in the world once we game him some pumpkin bread. He actually wrote us a thank you note and I’m positive, to this day, we are the only ones he smiled for. Years later after we had moved away from our old neighborhood, we went back to visit. Low and behold, who pulls up just as we are outside saying good-bye to our neighbors, Joe, our ‘old’ mail man. He remembered us and smiled and said “HI” then asked how we were and where we landed after the trip. Magic pumpkin bread. Maybe, maybe not. But, it doesn’t hurt, does it?!
So, this Holiday season, make some magic pumpkin bread to give to your mail man, trash truck driver, chiropractor’s office, friends, or just for yourself. It’s delicious and everyone deserves a treat, even people who don’t normally get to have sugar, like me.
Here I’m listing the original recipe first and the healthier substitutions in parentheses. That way you may choose which version you want to make and eat. I’m grateful that I can still eat this wonderful pumpkin bread even though I do not eat sugar or gluten. But, the truth is, the original recipe truly does taste the best. Maybe not taste better, but the consistency is better. But, those of us with food sensitivities are used to trying new things and used to going without the old ones. We still live and thrive on delicious food. Enjoy either recipe depending upon your diet.
The muffins will be darker than these if you use prunes in place of the oil. Use applesauce on light-colored breads, like banana bread.
Delicious Healthy Pumpkin Bread
Ingredients:
1. Beat together in first bowl:
4 eggs (or substitute 6 oz egg whites)
3 C sugar or ( 2 1/4 C Honey) or (2 C Agave) (when using honey or agave reduce the water by 1/4)
1 C vegetable oil or (1 C baby food prunes) or (1 C no sugar added applesauce)
2. In a separate bowl, sift together:
3 C flour or (3 C gluten-free Pamela’s Baking Mix) or (1 C spelt flour, 1 C brown rice flour, 1 C Buckwheat)
1/2 t baking powder, 2 t baking soda, 3/4 t sea salt, 2 t cinnamon, 1 t nutmeg, 1 t cloves, 1 t allspice
3. Mix well, then add to the ingredients of the first bowl and blend with hand mixer.
4. Add last:
Make sure you have a Reiki Kid on hand to help with the making. They can run Reiki while they help. This is one of my first Kids Reiki students helping me make this batch.
2 C Pumpkin
2/3 C water (with agave or honey in between 1/3 and 1/2 C of water. Try the lessor amount and work up as needed.)
I have noticed lately that the guides who come to help are a little different during readings, healings or attunements. I’m meeting guides I haven’t worked with or been introduced to before during readings. In many of these readings they simply FEEL different. These guides are combinations of guides of Universal energy, star energy combined with Earth elemental energy. When I talk to other psychics who do spirit guide readings I find that they are experiencing the same thing, especially among elemental or earth type spirit guides. I personally believe this means that as more and more of us truly BELIEVE in them again, they are waking up from their ‘lack of belief’ induced slumber and are ready to aid us in this new energy that is emerging and changing. I believe that when people stopped believing in fairies, mermaids, angels and even God, many of the elemental beings went into a deep sleep within the earth or in another dimension, ready to be reawakened as soon as they are needed again. Now is the time, they are reawakening. They are here once again to help, because WE are asking for their help. We are grateful for their help. The more they are needed, the more that will wake up to answer the call.
The Neck/Nix are shapeshifting water spirits who usually appear in human form.The German Nix are types of river merman and mermaid who may lure men to drown.Nixes in folklore became water sprites, who try to lure people into the water. The males can assume many different shapes, including that of a human, fish, and snake. The females are beautiful women with the tail of a fish. When they are in human forms, they can be recognised by the wet hem of their clothes. The Nixes are portrayed as malicious in some stories but harmless and friendly in others. Possibilities
It is time to open up to the possibility that everything we have read about, fairies, mermaids, water sprites, gnomes, leprechaun, Atlantis, etc. are all possible, are all truly here on an energetic level and want to help us save our earth and ourselves. They are not just a figment of our imagination, they are real on an energetic level and who knows what could happen if many people start believing again, they may be able to have the strength need and desire to be real on a physical level as well. I believe they once were a long time ago. I do not believe it is an accident that more than a few different ancient cultures all around the world have stories of mermaids, fairies and other ‘little’ people who come to help and be merry or create mischief.
Talking to fairies
Even though it’s easy for me to believe because I talk to them, see them and work with them daily, they are as real to me as the internet is to you. But, I have always believed. I never stopped believing as I grew from child to adult. Even in the pre-teen years and young adult years when I forgot about them, I still believed. Maybe not in the same way I do today, but I believed that there is way to much that is unexplained in the world, way to much magic in the world NOT to believe in something just because I hadn’t seen it. I was open to all good things being possible. That is all it takes to start. Open to the possibility that it could be true and if it is, you are open to EXPERIENCE them for yourself. Maybe I remembered somewhere in my soul that I had once talked with them, once played with them as a child. Somehow I kept that memory and that belief in magic and unseen things. You too have memories in your soul about spirit guides. You too can open your heart, stop being afraid of what people will think, what you think, if you believe in unseen things. What have you got to lose? Nothing, nothing at all.

Open your heart and your mind
It is time to open our hearts and our minds both, to POSSIBILITIES!! The possibility that maybe we don’t know everything. The possibility that maybe we don’t have to ‘see’ something in order for it to be real. The possibility that science cannot explain everything that exists. The possibility that maybe dreams do come true and maybe we can manifest everything we need and maybe we can live in harmony with each other and our planet without feeling a lack in our hearts ever. Maybe World Peace is a possibility! The more we all open our hearts to good things, new things, ‘CRAZY’ things, the more crazy will be the norm. I take great pride in being thought of as not ‘normal’ whatever that is, would you like to join me!!?

Saturday we had another Kids Reiki class. Six children and their Reiki adults celebrated Divine Source Energy by learning about Reiki, the history of hands on healing and Reiki, Reiki spirit guides and animal guides, feeling energy, meditation, chakras, auras and much more. Thank you to Tim, Jerica, Josiah, Lilly, Kayella and Makena for being so brave and loving as they learned something totally new.

Divine Source, God, Great Spirit and much more
We started the day talking about all the different names there are around the world for God and how they need to trust their own intuition to know what name feels right to them and their families. The kids did their very first meditation to find their safe place and then each one shared what their safe place looked like to them. Many of them saw power animals and spirit guides at their safe place. I was encouraged with how well they did for their first time and how much they seemed to enjoy it.

Chakra Rainbows
During our chakra and aura lesson we learned about the healing effects of color and how their energy is a rainbow of colors. As an example we wrapped colored bandanas around my special Reiki helper, Amy Meyers, to show them the colors of each chakra and the placement. It was a blast.
Magic Eye Art Project

While I did the individual attunements my Reiki assistants, Amy Meyers and Lauren Holloway both led a Magic Eye art project. The kids made an almost, full sized mirror image of themselves using their magic eyes. They closed their eyes to ‘see’ what they look like energetically and then created it on a large piece of paper with glitter, stickers, cut out pieces of paper, tissue paper, crayons and more. As you can see from the photos they were extremely creative as well as intuitive.
Reiki I Attunements
While the kids worked on the art projects I was in the Reiki room doing attunements and Reiki guide readings. Each child choose to be attuned to Reiki and each one had a different experience during the attunement. Some felt tingles, some felt heat, some felt flowing or rocking movement while they were being attuned and some said they just felt love. I appreciate how everyone feels and reacts to the energy differently.

Every attunement is different for me as well. With some the energy comes in fast and ready like the child, some comes in slow and hesitant, others calm and peaceful, others come in happy and joyful, but each one feels full of love and creates a very humble feeling of gratitude in me. I often tear up or even cry because I feel so incredibly grateful that Divine Source has entrusted this mission to me. I feel so small in comparison and yet so spiritually powerful at the same time. It is the most amazing feeling to give a Reiki attunement and especially to children.
With children I can often see or feel the immenseness of the ‘mission’ they have ahead of them in this life and feel how spiritually powerful THEY are. These kids are amazing. They have a big purpose in this life and a lot to do to prepare themselves. I feel genuinely honored to be a small part of teaching these children about energy, our Divine and spiritual guides so they hopefully never lose that sense of wonder and that belief that miracles really are possible. They will so need that as they grow up in this world and doing their best to create positive change. It’s a huge calling and each time I do an attunement on a child, I am reassured that we are in good hands, that they are truly ready for this task ahead. A truly brilliant feeling. Working with these amazing kids helps my faith grow each and every time. What a blessing.

Feeling the Energy
After the attunement we practice FEELING the energy and healing with the Reiki. Each child and adult makes an energy ball in their hands until they can feel the pressure of something there, something between their hands that is invisible but tangible at the same time. Some say it feels hot, some tingly, some like a worm crawling in their fingers, but they all feel it. Then we combine our energy balls and the children took turns standing in the middle of them inside one huge ball of Reiki. That is always a highlight. Sometimes we sing beautiful songs to help the energy feel stronger. The more joy you feel the more the energy runs and the more likely you are to feel it on your body. This is one of the kids favorite exercises and we do it as often as we can at Kids Reiki circle.
Perfect End to a Perfect Day
Each child receives a Reiki I certificate just like my adult students do but the kids’ certificates have gold stars on them. They are cool!
We handed out the certificates and the kids went home. I always remind the Reiki adults that it is up to them to continue the Reiki training at home and support their Reiki kid by practicing with them as well as bringing them back once a month to Kids Reiki Circle. Reinforcement and practice is key to each Reiki kid being confident in their practice and learning of energy. I’m so excited to see where each of these kids go with their Reiki path. The options are endless.

Reiki is an amazing healing modality. I literally feel like I have magic in my hands.
But, when I teach a class, I teach not only how to heal yourself and others with Reiki, but how to incorporate Reiki into every aspect of your life. Reiki is not just for healing or for healers. Reiki can be translated as “spiritually guided life force energy.” It says nothing about being only for healing. Reiki responds to the intention that the user puts forth for it in their mind. Reiki can do no harm so no one can use Reiki with ill intentions. Because Reiki is Divinely guided, the energy simply would never respond to such an intention. So, this allows for Reiki users to be creative and think of new and original ways to use Reiki in their every day life to make their life more fulfilled, more spiritual and more fun! FUN, FUN, FUN! Divine wants us to have more FUN!
There are so many ways to work with the Reiki energy within your daily life. Please read the ideas I give and send me comments of your own ways of working with Reiki energy. Since there are so many ways, I’ll be making this post a three parter to get them all in. I’ll list them for the ideas and give the intention or the “how” for those of you who already have Reiki in your hands and want to try them. If you have Reiki II and above, you may add the Reiki symbols to the intention depending upon the desired outcome. You will recognize the CKR as the power symbol, SHK as the mental/emotional symbol and HSZSN as the long distance symbol.
AT HOME WITH REIKI-
Work with the Reiki energy in your home to raise the vibration and make it more peaceful, protected and inviting.
Use Reiki on EVERYTHING:
The walls, ceilings, floors, air, windows and doors, inside cabinets and closets. First use the SHK or the intention to clean or cleanse your homes energy, rooms etc. Then use the symbol CKR to seal and protect the space. I also visualize a huge dome of Love and Light surrounding my home and neighborhood every night before bed to make us invisible vibrationally to lower energies, people who have lower intentions on their mind.
New items coming into the home. I Reiki everything that comes into my home with a quick cleansing intention (SHK) before incorporating it into the rooms. Then I do a (CKR) or an intention for blessings and to energize the item.
House hold appliances, plumbing, air conditioner, heater, etc. Our house is a part of us. It reacts to our emotions too, like our body. Sometimes when you are very emotional or going through hard times, your home will react. Such as, your plumbing may go haywire and water is everywhere. Water is a symbol of big emotions out of control. Using Reiki on these areas of your home will heal you and your house together.
Electronics- T.V.’s, computers, printers, stereos, I-pods, cell phones, car engines, etc. (helps them work better, longer and with less electro magnetic pollution to you.
Batteries – Do you know you can Reiki batteries to get longer life? I have done this on multiple occasions. Once my camera batteries ran out right when my son was about to receive his end of the season soccer trophy. I ran Reiki with the power symbol on the battery for 5 minutes and was able to take photos of the whole team receiving their trophies! Try it, it’s a great way to amaze non believers and kids love it.
Food, drink, vitamins, prescription medication– Brings out all the good, gets rid of the bad- makes them healthier, less toxic and less side effects. Cleanse with the intention of clearing away anything that is unhealthy (symbol SHK) and then use the intention of energizing the nutrition with the best possible nutrient value possible with (CKR).
Find missing things– I always use this one when I lose something around the house. I do my Gassho to conect to the Reiki. I use the intention of finding the lost object (HSZSN) and then leave it up to Divine. If you are meant to have that object again, you will.
People– I work with the Reiki on my kids when they are fighting to calm the energy down around them and take away the charge. They often stop fighting and are soon laughing. It’s pretty amazing. Use Reiki on a photo of you and your partner to improve your relationship. (with their permission of course!) You may use Reiki and the CKR on anyone as a blessing with no intention. This you can do anytime you want to heal a situation that has worsened or exploded. Or you can send Reiki to the relationship itself, not the actual person, a little each day and watch things smooth out. People who you never thought would apologize, will.
Pets and plants– All living things LOVE Reiki. Reiki your house plants, your pets, if you don’t like spiders then Reiki your home with the intention that spiders will like other places better and go there instead.
Identity theft– This is a big one lately in our new electronic environment. Work with Reiki with the intention of first cleansing (SHK) and then protecting (CKR) your bank statements or the screen on your computer as a symbol of your accounts, Reiki your investments, college funds, stocks and bonds, all insurance, drivers license, passport or birth certificate as a symbol of your overall identity and anything else you have that represents YOU and your families electronic selves. Do this regularly, whenever you feel the need. At least once a month would be recommended.
Websites, blogs, Facebook pages,emails, etc.- These too need to be cleansed and protected from fraud happening. I also hold the intention that all who read the words I write or put out to the Universe are blessed by the process. I Reiki each and every page, word, down to the letter of my website and emails that I send with the intention that they are filled and surrounded with Reiki with the greatest good for all who read them. (use all three Reiki II symbols)
Spiritual Items & tools– Spiritual items; pictures, statues, art, crystals, shells, candles, pendulums, oracle cards, healing wands, etc. All spiritual items of the Light carry a higher vibration and lift the energy of your home. Keep them of the highest vibration possible by blessing them (CKR), cleansing them (SHK), surrounding them with protection and energizing them with (CKR) as often as you think about it. I also like to use incense and other forms to clean them as well. But, that’s a whole other blog.
Boogie men and bad dreams- Many children have bad dreams, night terrors or see monsters in their closet. Ban the boogie man by allowing your child to help you banish them with beautiful all loving Reiki energy. Let them know that as long as the Reiki energy is filling their closet and their bed room, no monsters can come even close to them or their room. For bad dreams you can also help the child fall asleep while you run Reiki and place your hands on the part of the child that feels physically affected by the fear, head, heart, abdomen, etc. Ask them where it’s bothering them. Do your Gassho, ask for Guides of the HIGHEST SPIRITUAL ORDER DIRECTLY FROM GOD, and use the intent to clear and protect the room, closet, or dream. Allowing your child to help empowers them to know they can do this too and have the spiritual power they need to vanquish their fears.
Cooking– And last but not least, use Reiki in your cooking and preparing of food. Reiki is Divine Love, what better way to make your food more nutritious, more delectable, and filled with love than with Reiki. Fill your kitchen, ingredients and hands with Reiki before beginning. Use all the symbols with all intentions during the cooking process and just allow the Reiki to flow freely while you cook. You can even use the distance symbol to send blessings to the dining room later when you’ll be eating for the best possible atmosphere while dining.
The possibilities of how you can improve your personal life at home are endless when you work with Reiki. Can you think of any I forgot?
