Reiki What You Read, See, Watch and Hear

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki

I was reading an author recently who I have followed for many years and have a great deal of respect for her work.  She is a world-famous psychic, been on T.V., written many books on the psychic topic and has proven over and over again just how amazing she is.  I have most of her books and read and reread them.

Bring your Reiki in to empower and protect you before you start reading any books, ANY BOOKS!!
Bring your Reiki in to empower and protect you before you start reading any books, ANY BOOKS!!

Humans make mistakes, period!

However, on this day, I had just a few minutes to kill, so I picked up one of her books I had not read, turned to just one chapter at the end of the book and started reading it.  As I read, she talked about a topic I know a lot about energy healing.  What she said, completely disagreed with what I have come to believe in my personal experience with healing work.  This made me stop and go WHAO!  What the heck?  I was astounded.  I was a bit in shock that our views on a subject would vier so opposite.

For a moment, it made me question my own beliefs.  It made me question my own experiences.  It definitely made me reflect at a deeper level.

Calm & Centered

But, then I stopped myself and sat with it.  I removed the emotional component and I calmed my mind and body as I went to my inner compass, my higher self and discussed this from a higher place within me.  I came to the conclusion that my own intuition and personal experience is what I have to go with, what I trust, what I feel to be true.  My feelings and my inner compass have not steered me wrong, but authors who I do not know personally, and who are also human and make mistakes, cannot be my first ‘go to’ authority.  My higher self knows best for me and I stick with that.  Yes, I decided, it is highly possible, even probably, this author, as great as I feel she is, could simply be wrong on this particular subject.

Recycle the Trash

Then I remembered other books I had read where most of what I had read I agreed with.  But, then I’d reach a chapter that just didn’t sit right, didn’t feel right, didn’t feel like it came from a place of Love and Light, so I put it in my proverbial trash can and didn’t take it in.  This happens a lot with information I’ve noticed, a little lower vibrational energy, thoughts and words sneak in where much of the book was of Love and Light.  After a while of practicing this, it gets easier and easier to trust your own intuition and not the authors. This can be applied to ALL books, magazines, reading materials.

The Golden Rule

When you watch television you automatically enter into an alpha state and transfer into your right brain. The result is the internal release of the body's own opiates, encephalons and Beta-endorphins, chemically almost identical to opium. In other words, your mind feels good, and you want to come back for more. From www.rickcollingwood.com

“I tell my students at the beginning of all my classes and sessions to NOT take in anything I or anyone else says unless it feels right to them.  If  an ‘expert’ of any kind says something that doesn’t feel right, don’t take it into your personal space and your mind just because they are a ‘so called’ expert.  What they are saying may simply not be right for you, it may not be right for you at this time or it simply may not be right, period.”  Josslyn

It is most important, especially at this time of the new age of enlightenment, to find our own inner compass and learn to listen to it.  The best way to do this is by practicing, starting NOW.  Your own intuition is always your best guidance.

HOW

Guard Yourself From Too Much Input!

When we are reading a book, watching television, movies or on the computer we are taking in millions of bits of new input; emotional, visual, mental, spiritual, all levels are being inundated with new input from these forms of media and it affects us on all levels.  It is energy and it affects us more than we know.

Mostly Hypnotized

T.V. is especially prone to hypnotizing us and getting their messages directly into our minds.
T.V. is especially prone to hypnotizing us and getting their messages directly into our minds.

Do we really want to be taking in ALL of what we read or see?  Do we completely trust the source of these books, programs, movies and commercials so well that we will just automatically take it all in?  Typically we don’t take in all of it, our filters of our conscious mind is often up and working and ready to filter out what we don’t want.  However, the people who make commercials and movies and Facebook posts are trained to SHOCK you, quickly get you to drop your filters and allow in their visual forms of information, without processing it.  Or, even more sneaky, they appeal to our bleeding hearts with sad pictures that activate our overly emotional sense of empathy and we take it in due to being emotionally too open.  This can happen all too easily because with the modern life, we are already in such a state of hypnosis much of the time, that we are highly suggestible much of the time. Being highly suggestible makes us take in more of what we see, hear and experience around us without the same and ‘normal’ filters we would have up if we were grounded.

This happens more often than we realize.  Unless we have filters built-in or put up before hand, you are taking much of this information into your being and accepting much of it as your truth.  Reiki can help to make sure this does not happen.  Sometimes this information just gets stuck in your energy field, but sometimes it actually gets taken in as a mental truth and it is much harder of a process to get it out afterwards.  Either way, this energy then has to be removed from our energy field,  and that takes more healing than most of us know to do.

Sensitives Take Caution

For spiritual or sensitive people this is even more of an issue.  I personally do not watch the news and have not for many years because I’m sensitive to taking in these visuals and having difficulty ridding them from my psyche after the fact. I also don’t watch scary movies or shows that I feel will be too much for me to handle. The more sensitive a person is the more important it is to keep this visual, emotional and auditory energy from getting in, in the first place.  Here is HOW to do it.  It is quite simple and just takes a conscious intention to do it and regular practice.

The Simple Reiki HOW to protect yourself from what you hear, see, and read:Hypnotized by Ads

  1. Get your Reiki started and if you are a Reiki II or above, chant the symbols that you feel will be needed here.  (I would use all three Reiki II symbols because they cover different aspects that are usually involved including the long distance symbol in case this is a past and very old issue. If you are above Reiki II, bring in UDKM the Reiki Master Symbol to help since this is a powerful spiritual issue.)
  2. Hold the intention that you are filled and surrounded by Reiki Power, Protection and Support the whole time you are reading, on the computer or watching T.V.
  3. If something comes up at any time that you are not sure about or questioning, then imagine yourself holding the questions out side of your boundary field; think about it, listen to your heart and your soul and decide if you believe it or not.  If you can make a decision right away then do so and be done.  Either take it in or send it to Mother Earth for recycling.
  4. If you are not sure and need more information on this topic before you bring it in or dispose of it, then hold the intention that this question stays out side your boundaries until you can gather the information or personal experience you need in order to make a decision.  (I sometimes hold questions out for many years before I settle on an answer.  When I do get it, it’s a big ‘A Ha’ moment for me and a great feeling of accomplishment.  These are what I call, “The Big Questions.”)
  5. Practice the process as often as possible.  Pretty soon it will become a very positive habit and you will be loving it.  You will feel lighter and more in control of what you take in or leave out.  Your energy field will not be as full of psychic smog and you’ll be able to make decisions easier, quicker and with more confidence.

This process also helps you to feel much more confident in your intuition, your decision-making and your ability to read or watch shows with a discerning mind.  It just feels better too, to not be taken by surprise.

I also highly recommend, especially if you are a beautifully sensitive person, to practice this quick 5 minute visualization for your boundaries and not taking other people’s stuff in.  I have written multiple blogs about this process as it has helped me a great deal.  Here is a link to one of the blogs called ‘Don’t Get Dumped On.’

LOOPHOLE

This ‘golden rule’ of not taking anything in that doesn’t feel right to you does not apply when you are acting out of fear.  My husband brought this to my attention recently when he didn’t want to do something my guides recommended with his business.  I knew it was something totally new for him and would be hard, but I also felt it was important or they (my guides) wouldn’t have told me and made a big deal about it if it wasn’t important.  They don’t waste our time.  He didn’t want to do the recommendation and threw my words back in my face, “But you always say, if it doesn’t feel right don’t do it.”  LOL, I smiled.  Thank you Divine for our mirrors and lessons, so grateful even from our closest family members.  I reminded him that this doesn’t count if the reason you don’t FEEL like you want to do it is from fear or lack of self-worth or some other lower vibrating emotion.  Allowing fear to stop us from moving forward on our path is only hindering us, not helping us.  So, just stop and check in with your higher self.  Be grounded and centered and listen to this emotion keeping you from moving forward.  Is it valid or something you would be best working on with your Reiki to heal it.  Be totally honest with yourself (Or a family member will be).  Then move forward.

I pray this helps some of you.  Please let me know if you try it and it helps you.  I’m always grateful for your loving comments.

Reiki Blessings,

Questions For the Healer – Pee Much?

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher of Rain Shadow Reiki

Gotta keep it light!!

STOP TO PEE! He's just to o cute not to share.
STOP TO PEE! He’s just too cute not to share.

I giggled when my client asked me this question and then quickly answered it for her when I realized she was serious.  But when it came up again in Reiki II class the other day, I thought, “Hmmm, I bet other new practitioners may be wondering about this too.”  I mean, what do you do with the client’s energy if it is a long distance session, while you are gone taking care of business?

PEE MUCH?

Yes, I do have to use the restroom sometimes while in the middle of a healing.  It doesn’t happen very often, I’m pretty good about going right before a session but it is not always possible to regulate your liquids in such a way that you never have to go during a session.  And, if your bladder is bothering you during a session, the Reiki may not flow as easily, or it may flow better.  LOL, everyone is different.  But it is possible to come ungrounded or uncentered because you are focused more on your bladder than your Reiki and client.  So, it’s good to know, you can excuse yourself respectfully and take care of business.

The Reiki and tears may flow from clients on the table, but some things are best taken care of out of the Reiki room. This post I just thought was a little too weird not to include it.
The Reiki and tears may flow from clients on the table, but some things are best taken care of out of the Reiki room. This post I just thought was a little too weird not to include it.  Don’t try to hold it.

Here is what I do if I do have to use the restroom during a session, in person or over the phone.  Just in case you wanted to know.

My HOW:  I’m sure there are many ways to do this and now that you’ve had your attention drawn to it, you’ll probably get to practice it.  Here is my way of doing this.

  1. Tell the client that you need to use the restroom and ask if they too want to get up and use the facilities.  Quite often they need to go also. (Please don’t try to sneak off, this is disrespectful to your client and does not build trust.)
  2. Ask Divine Source and your Reiki guides to surround and protect the space, the client’s energy and  yours, while you exit the healing space.  Visualize clear bubbles of love and light surrounding both of you.
  3. Long Distance Sessions – If the client is long distance and I am holding their life force energy in my hands, I find a safe place to put their energy such as on a pillow or on the couch next to me, I call on Divine Source or my Reiki guides to hold their energy in a small ball of Light for me while I go to the bathroom.  Just like if the energy were being held in my own hands.
  4. Wash your hands really well after you use the bathroom.  Do not be in such a hurry that you forget this important step.  Wash with intention, repeating a positive intention, such as “clean and clear.”  Feel that mantra while cleaning your hands.  Reiki guides can help you with this if you ask them.
  5. When you come back, take a moment to readjust to their energy field so you can feel it again just as strongly as you did before.  Take a moment to run some Reiki on their energy or chant silently the Power Symbol (CKR) or just the intention of ‘more power’ and you will very quickly be right back where you left off.

RELIEF

It’s pretty simple and I’m sure many of you would have figured this out with the help of your Reiki guides.  But, lets see how many of you after reading this, all of a sudden get a chance to practice this now that it is in your conscious mind.  So, now you can happily excuse yourself to go pee and feel good about it too.

QUESTIONS?  ANYONE?

I love answering questions from my readers, clients and students.  Please feel free to ask here on the comment section or email me.  I will not use your name or can just use your initials, but many people can learn from YOUR questions.  I look forward to any questions of Love and Light about Reiki or spiritual work.  If I don’t know the answer I will ask some of my other healer/psychic friends or, my guides, or just tell you that I don’t know.  Often times I can go into meditation and ask my guides.  Please don’t ask me who killed J.F.K.  That’s been done.

Blessings to you all, thank you for reading,

Use Reiki For EVERYTHING?

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

I say work with your Reiki for EVERYTHING and I really mean it. Yes, Reiki is Divine healing energy, but as my African Drumming teacher, Zorina Wolf says, “We don’t know what healing looks like.”  Only Divine knows what healing for us looks like.  What if healing looks different from a medical miracle?  What if healing by Reiki means that it directs you to the best doctor in the area for you?  What if healing looks like finding a new home that has better energy and location for your mental attitude?  What if healing looks like bringing in a new friend to your life who will love you unconditionally?  Would we have asked for that of our Reiki?  Maybe, maybe not.  But the Reiki knows what we need for our highest good and when and how we are ready to heal, we don’t always know that.

In a nutshell, here is what Reiki brings to us every time we ask for it to come through us.  With a little bit of intention for what we want, it’s incredibly powerful daily healing in the way we need it most and the timing we are ready for:

Reiki brings in Divine Healing, Power, Protection & Support:

  • Divine Healing – As you ask Reiki to run and heal you, it will heal all levels of whatever you are dealing with in that moment- that you are ready, willing and able to heal in the moment. The more often you ask Reiki to heal you, the more and more and more you are ready to heal. This is the Reiki ‘snowball.’
  • Divine Power – God Power is the only true power.  When you are connected to Reiki and doing it regularly on yourself and others if you choose, the more powerful you will feel.  As you do Reiki more and more, you will feel more confident, more worthy, more deserving and more and more powerful because you have total trust and faith in Creator and the Reiki coming from Divine Source.
  • Divine Protection– While channeling the Reiki energy for healing it fills and surrounds you offering you a blanket of protection so you do not take on other people’s psychic debris while they are releasing their old energies and emotions.  All you have to do is tell Divine that you’d like the Reiki to do this and the intention is even stronger.  Put a visualization or an affirmation with it and it’s even more powerful for you.  (Divine Disclaimer – Divine protection will be yours unless it gets in the way of your free will.)
  • Divine Cleansing – Reiki helps to surround you, your client and your healing space with cleansing Reiki!!  That means you and your space is clean and clear of old energy or psychic debris.  If you hold the intention of this, put visualizations to this effect it is even stronger and more powerful.  (Divine Disclaimer – Divine cleansing will be yours unless it gets in the way of your free will.)
  • Divine Guidance – when you invoke your Reiki, your Reiki guides come too whether you have met them personally or not.  If you did not meet your Reiki guides during your Reiki classes, know that they are coming along with the Reiki.  They tell you what you need to know during healings.  They tell you which chakras need clearing, how to hold your hands and for how long and much more.  Ask them questions and they will gently and quietly give you an answer in a very ‘behind the scenes’ kind of way.  NOTE: Hold the intention to your Creator that only the Highest and most Sacred Reiki Guides of Love and Light may come to help you and they will come.  Ask Divine to allow you to meet them in a meditation for yourself and they will come in some way to let you know they are with you.
  • Divine Information – My Reiki guides are with me all the time, I intend it and so it is.  They give me any information throughout my day to make my life easier and more blissful.  It is up to me to pay attention, listen and follow it, or not.  Believe me, I rebel often and don’t follow the guidance they give and then I learn great lessons in the process.  My guides even let me know what color is the best for me to wear most days.  Then they also give me important information about my healing practice such as; the best days to teach my classes, hold special events, or to rest and not work at all.  They tell me which new clients to work with or which ones to refer out to other healers for both our greatest good. They also stop clients from calling for appointments when I need a break and let them back ‘in’ when I’m feeling better.  The list of the services my guides offer me is endless, I only need to ask them and they deliver. Over the years, they save me time, stress, worries and simply make my life go smoother.  They want our lives to be wonderful and they help us in any way they can to accomplish this without ever interrupting our choice of free will.  No job is too small, the more ethical we are in our work, the more guides of Love and Light will come and help us.  Just say THANK YOU!

So, maybe you can read these helpful tips that Reiki can accomplish for us easily and effortlessly and see right away how they can help you in your healing journey.  Personally, I don’t leave home without it.

Reiki Blessings to you all,

I love to hear from you with questions or comments in the comment section, your questions help others learn too.

In Love and Light,

Recipes I Like – Roasted Acorn Squash with Portobello Mushroom

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

I absolutely LOVE the fall!  I love the colors, the flavors and even the weather here in the Pacific North West, which lately has been a lot of rain. Not typical for Sunny Sequim.

Being with spiritual friends recently sharing a condo and cooking together at a healing retreat, I made this dish for them and they all wanted the recipe.  I decided it would be easier to share it with everyone, and then I realized I already had on a blog two years ago when I was doing a cleanse.  But, decided to post it again by itself because it’s so good, it deserves its own blog.  This recipe is a great reminder that healthy food can be delicious and easy to prepare too.  Pray you enjoy this as much as my family does.

“I wondered, “Why have I been chasing happiness my whole life when bliss was here the entire time?”
 – Elizabeth Gilbert from “Eat, Pray, Love”

Acorn Squash with Portobello Mushrooms
Acorn Squash with Portobello Mushrooms

I got this recipe from www.jointhereboot.com two years ago when I was participating in a 15 day juice cleanse with Joe Cross from the movie “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.”  (The movie is well worth watching)  Most of the food on the pre-cleanse was truly wonderful, but this is my favorite recipe from the whole cleanse, along with the juices we made.  Yum!  It’s healthy and easy to make.  I hope you enjoy it as much as my friends and I do, it would be a great Thanksgiving add-on for sure.

Don’t forget to run your Reiki when you cook, adding Divine Love and Light to every dish you prepare.  Reiki in your food helps to cleans out any toxins and boosts the nutrients to the vibrational level of your body so your body gets the best out of your food.  It’s a win/win!

Blessings to all my Reiki friends,

Josslyn

Congratulations to Our Newest Reiki I Students! The Ones Who Made it Through!

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

FIRST, A Big Huge Congratulations to our newest Rain Shadow Reiki, Reiki I students!!

Congratulations Mary Ellen, Camille, and Jayne, much Reiki Love to you all!
Congratulations Mary Ellen, Camille, and Jayne, much Reiki Love to you all!

What a wonderful and fun group of women.  I know, I always say that, because it’s true.  I’m blessed to have deep, inquisitive, curious, strong, respectful, spiritual and simply amazing students to take my classes.

Of course, as teacher, I take some credit, because I put the intention into my manifestation of amazing students every day, that I only get the best of the best students who vibrate well with me and are meant to take my classes.  But, it’s a collision course for success, because they’ve been doing the same in manifesting the right Reiki teacher for them, so it’s literally impossible for them to NOT find me and for me to NOT find them.  I love the way the Universe works.

Healing Crisis BEFORE a Reiki Class

When I took my Karuna Reiki class from William Lee Rand, he sent the books out beforehand so we could study the many symbols prior to the class.  My ‘healing crisis’ or as I call it, HEALING OPPORTUNITY started right away and lasted in my opinion for a few years.  It was powerful or pre-menopause, not 100% sure on that one.  But, the healing opportunity started as soon as I received my manual a month before the class when in the summertime, I got a head cold.  I don’t get head colds in the summer.

“When written in Chinese the word crisis is composed of two characters.  One represents danger, the other opportunity.”        John F. Kennedy

HealingCrisisChangeThis can happen with any of the healing classes we take.  As soon as we make the firm decision to change or evolve the healing opportunity can start.  This is not the ‘fault’ of Reiki, this is a conscious decision your soul and human self has made to change, but change also comes with evolution, raising our vibration, learning.  This can look like an emotional upset, cold or flu symptoms, strange dreams, trouble sleeping or being challenged by some of your old belief patters in hurtful and difficult ways.  This is the cleansing process that the student chooses when they choose CHANGE.  When they choose to evolve and get rid of the OLD and bring in the NEW vibration, our body, mind and spirit start to dump out the old stuff that no longer serves us.  Some people start this process after the class, but yes, some of us lucky ones start right away.

From Six Down to Three

Thus, I had three people sign up for the class this week who were not able to complete it. Two of them were so sick they weren’t able to even attend the class, one came and went home early.  Could they simply have colds?  Yes, of course.  Could they be detoxifying old stuff they no longer need and thus triggering a Healing Opportunity?  Yes, of course.  It doesn’t matter the why,  the answer is the same, REIKI!!!  Drinking lots of water, extra rest and taking an epsom salts bath helps a great deal too.  So, my recommendation is, stick with your first intuition to evolve and take the Reiki class at your next possible opportunity.  If you already have Reiki, REIKI YOURSELF A WHOLE LOT, EVERY DAY!  That is my prescription for a healing crisis/opportunity.

“Healing is not an overnight process, it is a daily cleansing of pain, it is a daily healing of your life.”   Leon Brown, found not guilty from new DNA evidence, after 30 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

I’m greatly proud of ALL my Reiki students for being on their spiritual path and continuing to move forward despite difficult conditions.  You are so much stronger than you know.

LOVE THIS PIC THE BEST! Such excitement.
LOVE THIS PIC THE BEST! Such excitement.

And, again, congratulations to my wonderful new Reiki students from this weekend, the ones who did make it through.  I cannot wait to see where your Reiki path goes.  So exciting.

Reiki Blessings to you ALL,

Crystal Bowl Healing Circle in Sequim, WA

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

Last week we had a special treat in our small town of Sequim, WA.  (Sk-wim)  A new couple who moved to Sequim from Texas recently hosted a crystal bowl introduction and healing circle.  Pat Coughlin Mawson is a certified Hypnotherapist and apparently her and her husband also have a passion for sound healing.  They’ve only been here four months and are already holding community events.  I’m very excited about sound healing and have wonderful memories from the powerful singing bowl healing I had in Sedona, AZ eight years ago.  So, even though my mom was visiting, I felt strongly that I needed to attend this healing session.  Luckily my mom was pretty open to a new experience and decided to come with me, along with eleven Reiki friends.

Me with my mom. I'm playing the quartz crystal bowl which everyone kept saying sounded like it was talking. This was my first time successfully playing the singing bowls. Once I got a few tips, it was quite easy. There were six bowls total and two of them were very large. If I couldn't tell if my bowl was 'working' I'd hold the balloon up close and could feel the vibrations of the balloon much easier.I could hear the bowls that were not near me easier than the one I was playing.

I could hear the bowls that were not near me easier than the one I was playing.  Their sound and vibrations were brilliant and powerful and just plain lovely to be around.

What a fabulous evening it was.  I’m so inspired I am now on the hunt for the perfect quartz crystal singing bowl for my Reiki room.  I can’t wait to incorporate this into my healing sessions along with my drum.  I have said it before, my guides have been giving me messages for the last couple of years that sound healing is the healing of the future.  I am starting now!  More about how it felt, continue reading.

Healing Power of Crystal Singing Bowls

from pamphlet by Pat Coughlin-Mawson, C.Ht.

Crystal singing bowls are made of pure quartz.  The human body has many crystalline structures, such as our bones, DNA, and blood.  These structures have a natural resonance with quartz.  Even our cells contain silica, the same substance found in quartz.  These natural affinities make these crystal singing bowls naturally healing to our bodies.  Quartz crystal singing bowls, unlike their Tibetan counterparts, can also be tuned to a specific note.  This makes them perfect for sound healing and the balancing of specific chakras.

Research on Healing with Sound

Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, the Director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at the Strang-Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York, has done extensive research on singing bowls and their effects on the body and emotions.  He has found, we are bombarded with disharmony on a daily basis.  We all have a natural inner harmony.  But, every day, day in and day out, we are exposed to disharmony-loud noises, horns honking, people yelling, doors slamming, and on and on.  All these noises generate vibrations which our body feels.  disharmony is inevitable.  If we return harmony to our body, our lives can be transformed.  Singing bowls show astounding results for helping bring harmony back to our bodies.  Dr. Gaynor has used singing bowls with his patients with astounding results.  A diagnosis of cancer can create an extraordinary fear in a patient.  When Dr. Gaynor treats them with singing bowls, they are suddenly relieved of their fear and able to live in the moment.  He has seen marital problems, job related stress or illness relieved.  Everything in our lives can be transformed when we are in harmony.

For more about Dr. Gaynor’s research and sound healing look into his book The Healing Power of Sound.  I got it for about $9 on Amazon used.

Experience

Many of the people were able to put their feet in the bowls and feel the vibrations throughout their whole body. My friend Gigi did this and said it tickled. I heard others say that they felt vibrations radiating through their entire being all at the same time.

The crystal singing bowls is one of those healings that you just have to experience for yourselves.  Pat and her husband plan to do these healings once per quarter if you’d like to get on their email list.  Or get on mine and I’ll forward the event updates to you.  We all got a chance to sit in the center of all the bowls going all at once.  I could hear each of them in their own magnificent way and feel the vibrations coming from all sides.  I could feel it through my whole body at times, at other times I could feel it working in my chakras.  It was intense.  I felt my chakras opening up, I felt the healing energy moving through me and I felt myself fill with such gratitude  that I started to tear up and weep.  This often happens for me when I feel such powerful gratitude coming from Divine healing.  It is the greatest, fullest, most loving feeling I have experienced.  So magnificent and helps me feel one with our Divine Source.

Run Your Reiki Too

Of course, I bring my Reiki and my Reiki guides with me to any healing session. I typically activate the Reiki prior to going in or if I forget, I’ll do it before the session begins.  The Reiki surrounds me with spiritual power so I can bring in the best and most beautiful of the vibrations and let go of all the ‘old’ and unneeded energy.  The Reiki brings in powerful Divine protection to make sure I don’t take on any energy from other people in the group and to make sure that all ‘old’ energy that leaves me goes to the highest and best place possible for healing.  I send mine to Mother Earth or to the Angels to take it to Heaven to be “recycled” into love again. The Reiki also fills and surrounds me with spiritual support; intuitive ideas, guidelines, visions and suggestions for getting the most out of my experience.  Such as, which intention to work with, when exactly my chakras are open and ready to move into the center for healing, etc.  Reiki is with me throughout the whole experience making sure it is ALL IN PERFECT  DIVINE ORDER and that I leave feeling blissful and healed.  This is a particularly important step if you are a sensitive person.

Experiencing or Buying a Singing Bowl

I recommend, just like with stones, finding a place that sells bowls if you want to try them.  Play them all that are available to play and get a feel for the vibration.  If you want to purchase one, choose with your intuition.  Choose the one that you are drawn to the most.  Walk away for a bit and look at other things in the store.  The bowl that you keep thinking about, that is YOUR bowl.  If you do not have a place near by and want to purchase one off of the internet, again, use your intuition to select a site to buy from.  Pray to your Reiki guides or directly to your Higher Power to make sure they send you the perfect bowl for your healing.  Put emotion into it, let Divine know how you want to use the bowl and why you want it and TRUST that what you get is perfect for you and your needs.

I pray many of you get to experience these beautiful healing tools.  You may just fall in love like I did.

Reiki Blessings to you all,

Josslyn

The Peninsula Healer’s Circle is a group of holistic/integrative healing practitioners living and working on the north Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.  To read more about our circle please read to the bottom of this blog.

Peninsula Healers Circle is currently meeting in the homes of the members. This month the meeting was at my home in Sequim, WA.
Peninsula Healers Circle is currently meeting in the homes of the members. This month the meeting was at my home in Sequim, WA.

Monthly Meetings

Each month one of our members introduces a new topic for us to learn about other healing modalities.  This way we can decide how we feel about a certain modality and if we’d like to try it deeper with a private session with the practitioner or even refer clients or friends to them.  Sometimes the lessons are just for us to learn more about healing and some are just to have fun.  Healing comes in many forms.

Pranic Healing

This months speaker for the Peninsula Healer’s Circle was really special.  Gayle Nelson from Port Townsend, WA has been practicing Pranic Healing, an energy healing form from India, for six years.  PenHealerCircle8-14,2I was captured by her calm loving voice and her passion for what she was teaching.  She obviously has a great deal of love for this healing method and brought that to our group.  She guided us through a lovely twenty-minute meditation, taught us techniques for cleansing our energy, cutting cords and healing our chakras.  Gayle had everyone in the room involved, all working on their own energy bodies.  It was quite beautiful to watch all the hand movements of all the members working together at the same time.  This Pranic Healing demonstration was extra special for me since Pranic Healing was the first energy healing I experienced after waking up.  It really helped to get me started as an energy healer and be open and ready for when I found Reiki.PenHealerCircle8-14,4

If you’d like to reach Gayle for a session with her and Pranic Healing, she can be reached at gayle@pranichealing.com or 360-477-1872.

More about the Peninsula Healer’s Circle:

Our goals for the group are:

  • to build a mutually supportive community of healers
  • to develop a more in-depth understanding of the different healing modalities offered by members of the circle
  • to offer a site where people can locate healing practitioners  of various modalities in our area
  • networking and referral base to offer appropriate integrative care to our clients

We invite interested practitioners or students of any of the many energy healing or other holistic/integrative/complementary/alternative healing modalities to join our circle. Meetings are held on the 3rd Friday of each month from 9-11 am for learning and 11am to 12pm for social hour, at the homes of various group members. There is no charge for group membership or attending our monthly circles.

This is an opportunity to network with other healers, learn more about different healing modalities, share knowledge and friendship, offer mutual support, and build a referral base for your practice. If you would like more information about how to join this group please visit our new website at http://www.peninsulahealerscircle.weebly.com .

Reiki for Depression

By Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki

This information is NOT for medical use and should never take the place of medical care.  If you suffer from depression or symptoms of depression please see a Licensed Naturopathic Doctor (or your doctor) as soon as possible.  Naturopathic Doctors are medical doctors who use only natural medicines to heal.

Lemon Balm is an herb known to help moods.
Lemon balm is a favorite for herbalists treating symptoms of anxiety, sleeplessness and depression.

Reiki for Depression

Something I have difficulty writing about and therefore do it rarely is my history of depression.  I’m very open with people in person, with friends and clients alike, but putting it into the written word in a blog is a whole other thing for me.  I feel much more vulnerable writing to people I don’t know out in cyber space.  Where some people may feel safer doing it this way, faceless to some extent, I don’t.  My fear of judgement comes up and reminds me that I’m still working on that particular issue.  I’ve written a bit about me having depression in the ‘My Story’ section of my website.   And that was quite difficult for me to write about then and took the longest of all the sections for me to finish.  Divine Spirit helped me with that just as they are helping me with this one today.

Writing Because I’m Guided to Do So

For some reason Spirit is guiding me at this time to write more about it.  Maybe because it’s the holiday season which is often very difficult for many people who suffer from depression, maybe because it’s been a particularly difficult week for me needing to cry very badly and not being able to until today when it all came pouring out rather quickly.  And then I suddenly felt the need to write about it for the first time, and then cry some more.  Divine Source always has a plan and I have found, even though I am quite rebellious, it’s best to simply trust and have faith that there is a divine reason and just go with it.  So here goes, me going with the flow once again, despite my fears and possible consequences, writing about my personal history of depression and how to heal yourself with the help of Reiki.

Lavender is also an herb used to calm people's moods.
Lavender is  used in the 21st century mostly for its sedative qualities.  It calms the entire nervous system, relaxes the muscles helps with headaches and muscle cramps.

A Bit O History

Passion Flower is a flower known to help alleviate depression symptoms.
Passion Flower is known to help alleviate depression and anxiety symptoms and helps to calm the body.

I’ve ‘suffered’ through depression most of my life although it wasn’t recognized until I was an adult.   I’m the kind of person that always tries to put on a happy face in public or I don’t go out.  So rarely do people really know what is going on with me, unless they pointedly ask.  This is common I have found with a lot of people with depression, the “suffer in silence” routine.  We get very good at acting when we don’t believe ourselves to be actors at all.  It’s important to know this about people with depression in case you know someone, love someone who has it.  I’m not going to go into why we do this right now, this blog isn’t about that.  But, it is sometimes hard to tell when people you love are suffering when they don’t feel safe to discuss it.  I’m grateful that I have so many people I do feel safe with whom I can talk with.  Those friends and my husband and kids have literally gotten me thorough this alive and will continue to because they not only love me, they understand me and take the time to do that.  They take the time, a whole lot of time to listen, not give advice, not judge, just listen and love me.  They are amazing and I’m so incredibly grateful for them.

Stigma of Depression

Lemon Verbena with a light pink flower has been one of my favorites since the Little House on the Prairie shows
The cool and refreshing fragrance of lemon verbena increases energy, relieves fatigue and overcomes feelings of apathy, disinterest and listlessness.  These characteristics make Lemon Verbena the ideal choice for use on dull, overcast days at the office or hot, humid days in mid-summer and any other time when the weather and other conditions discourage productivity.

I’d like to get something straight.  Something that medical doctors will not talk about because most of them do not know or acknowledge.  Depression is NOT just a mental or emotional disease.  There should be no stigma to it.  It is not just someone who is way too sensitive and can’t control themselves emotionally.  Depression exists on all levels of the body, emotional yes, mental yes, but it is also a disease of spirit, therefore it also exists on the spiritual AND the physical level too.  Pretty much like any other disease someone could have, like for instance diabetes or heart disease.  They are all disease of the spirit first and foremost, then they work their way into our other spiritual body levels from there.  All disease works this way so there is no reason to judge (there’s that word again) anyone who has disease of any kind because we are all struggling with something.   We are the same in that we are all spiritual beings in human form working hard at learning difficult lessons of the spirit.  Quite often, disease is a very fast way for us to learn these lessons.  That is it’s purpose.  (Plus, sometimes it helps burn off old karma.  But that’s another blog.)

Medical Doctors, Don’t Get Me Started

Yellow hibiscus
Yellow hibiscus aids in decreased depression and mood swings. The minerals and vitamins in hibiscus tea can contribute to a more positive frame of mind and calming of the nervous system.

I saw many, many different medical experts who could not figure me out.  One after another they would pass me around trying to figure out why I wouldn’t respond to the drugs they were peddling.  Why they couldn’t FIX me.  They tried me on each and every depression med they had including bipolar medications. “Hey I didn’t respond to the depression meds,  I must be bipolar right?”  I was their guinea pig and I didn’t, at the time, know any better.  ALL of the medications gave me such severe side effects that I couldn’t safely take them.  My body was simply too sensitive for any man-made medications, but I didn’t know that at the time.  Plus, their drugs were only treating one symptom, , one level of my body, not getting close to treating the cause.  Truly no one seemed at all worried about finding the cause.  Those doctors gave up on me. I didn’t fit in their box. They said I was permanently disabled and could not work or be of use to society, and I believed them and sometimes still do.  Some days, on days like today, I feel like they were right.  But, they aren’t.  I know that deep down.  And, it’s up to me (and my soul mate friends and family) to remind me of that, over and over again until my subconscious mind believes it one day.

A Gift

Those doctors giving up on me was the best thing that ever happened to me.   Although at the time I felt totally left alone on the edge of a cliff.  When I felt I had no other options, no other alternatives at all, I was then able to open up to concepts I had never considered.  This is when most clients come to me as a Reiki practitioner too, when nothing else has worked and they feel they are out of possibilities.  Suddenly healing with hands isn’t so crazy any more.  Right?  I’m chuckling here because I was no different.  It is part of the process that we must go through in order to open our “box”, our mind to new possibilities, new beliefs.  Through the process I found alternative medicine.  Alternative doctors who listened and were willing to experiment and try new things with me.  And I found Reiki.

Sensitivities Can Be Blessings in Disguise

Orange roses
The rose has an uplifting restoring, and calming effect on the nervous system, lifts depression, dispels mental and physical fatigue, and soothes irritability, grief, and anger; the essential oil can also be used for depression, especially that caused by lack of love or intimacy in one’s life.

In my case, my body is still so challenging that it takes a pretty large team of alternative practitioners to work with me on a monthly basis to keep me balanced and functioning.  I sometimes forget that this way of life is not normal for some because I’ve been doing it for so long.  But for me listening to and working with my body on a daily, sometimes hourly basis is normal and a must.  Yes, part of my sensitivities also give me my wonderful gifts of intuitive ability, compassion and understand, and my ability to run a whole lot of Reiki energy to heal others.

Hang in There We Are Almost There……….

Reiki for Depression

I have no studies to show you to prove what I’m going to say but only my own personal experience.  These are my opinions from what I’ve learned though my years of working with Reiki for my depression.

When I first started seeing natural doctors, Naturopaths, they did all sorts of tests on me too, just like the medical doctors.  I had one tell me that my serotonin levels were non-existent.  She was amazed I was functioning at all, and told me this.  I could see the shock on her face that I was sitting in front of her and her knowing that I had an active, a mom, a healer and rewarding life much of the time.  She came right out and said that she was literally shocked that I wasn’t in an insane asylum with levels so low.  “Do they still have those?  Damn I thought, seriously?!”  At the time I didn’t consider myself very functioning, although I was a full-time mom at this point with two very young little boys and doing my best.  (I have very high expectations) She asked what I did to keep myself so healthy considering what I was dealing with physically.  I told her besides my overtly healthy diet, that I also did a lot of meditation and Reiki.  She told me to keep it up and put me on some natural neurotransmitters to help support my brain function.  They help so much.

Puzzle Pieces to Healing Depression

Red valerian
Valerian, or Valeriana officinalis, is a plant root that is either ground into a powder or pressed into a liquid and used to treat depression naturally.  Valerian has been used to treat symptoms of depression as well as minor aches and pains, mild tremors, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, nervous asthma, hysteria, excitability and even phobias.  As always it is imperative to consult with a licensed health professional before embarking on any herbal regimen.  I truly believe this and do it myself.

Since then my naturopaths have pieced together different puzzle pieces that contribute to the physical portion of the depression.  I tell you here only in case it helps someone out there to look at their depression puzzle pieces.  Maybe you have a similar one to me that no doctor has looked at yet.  Also, I tell you simply so you know without a doubt that I have been through this and can help you though the process as well.  Here is a great book on the subject, “feeling fat, fuzzy, or frazzled?” by Richard Shames, M.D. and Karilee Shames, Ph.D., R.N. also authors of “Thyroid Power.”

The Physical Run Down

I have severe hormone imbalances that I’ve had all my life, not at all connected to menopause, a thyroid disease called Hashimoto’s where your body basically attacks itself and of course my body produces very little if any of its own serotonin and other neurotransmitters.  Oh yeah, lets not forget the adrenal fatigue from the stress of it all.  That is a simplistic look at it.  There’s more but that’s the basic gist.  My body is in a constant state of change, like anyones, but mine seems to be much more sensitive and can get out of balance at the slightest tilt.  I feel like I’m standing on a board, on top of a ball and I have to stay balanced there like that every day juggling kids, pets, husband, work/hobby, public school, crazy diet, housework, neighbors and so much, so much more.

An excellent book about healing these symptoms naturally. Hormone, thyroid and neurotransmitter imbalances.
An excellent book about healing these symptoms naturally. Hormone, thyroid and neurotransmitter imbalances.

How does Reiki help these?  How can Reiki help your depression or that of someone you love?  Stay with me a bit longer, we are getting to that most important of answers.

HOW Can Reiki Help Depression?

Reiki for me has helped me in every way it can.  Reiki heals on all levels, all at once; spiritual, emotional, mental and physical.  Reiki is Divinely Guided Life Force Energy so it has intelligence and knows where it needs to go to help you the most AND at a pace you can handle.  It never works on anything you aren’t ready to work on.

Spiritual

On the spiritual level Reiki is working on my past lives, healing those that may have created the karma that causes me to have depression in this life.  Reiki has also helped me to heal my issues that I had with God and Jesus and other religious figures that have been contributing to my fears in this life.  One at a time, a little at a time, Reiki helps dissolve the fears, the karma that I brought with me into this life in order to learn from it.  This is very powerful and deep healing work that gets to the SOURCE and takes time.  Stick with it.  Never give up.

Physical

On the physical levels Reiki lowers my blood pressure, calms me down and supports my body in any way that it may need it.  It can’t make serotonin for me but it helps my body to function better without it or function better so that my body can make serotonin for itself.  This I truly believe.  I have no proof, it’s just something I feel happening.  If my body is too stressed in other areas it won’t have the energy to finish all the building blocks in my brain that I need.  Reiki also helps my body to handle the sensitivities that my physical body has, allergies to new things like electromagnetic energy.  Reiki also helps me to cleanse and detoxify my quite often toxic system, letting go of what doesn’t serve me.  Letting go for some people is harder than others.  The people who have a hard time letting go tend to be more stressed, more over weight and more likely to get disease sooner.  Reiki helps to keep your physical body in balance so these are less likely to happen.

Mental

On the mental level Reiki helps me to reframe the old recordings that are playing in my head that contribute to the depression, such as, “I’m not worthy of being healthy or a healer” or “It’s safer if I’m sick”, “It’s not safe to let go of stuff” or “I’m not lovable.”  There are thousands of scripts in our head that we either learn from childhood or even bring with us from other life times until we learn what we need to learn from them and change them.  Reiki can help us first to identify them and second to change them into healthier scripts.

Emotional

You just know that puppies are good for people with depression. When I was going through my first serious depression I got two puppies and they were my best friends and got me though many very difficult times. Get a pet and allow it to love you the way you deserve to be loved.
You just know that puppies are good for people with depression. When I was going through my first serious depression I got two puppies and they were my best friends and got me though many very difficult times. Get a pet and allow it to love you the way you deserve to be loved.

On this level Reiki has helped me to feel calmer when I need it.  Reiki helps me to feel more balanced at times like today when I needed to balance out the emotions that were being created inside of me by the physical imbalance.  Reiki supports you in whatever way you need to get that balance back in your bodies.  Today I needed to cry, a lot, to get the emotions and chemicals out of my physical body.  I also needed to write about it, to share it or not.  I needed to get it out into words so Reiki is helping me to do that as well.  Reiki has become such an integral part of my life that it’s pretty much automatic for me to invite in the Reiki energy to help me when I’m upset, just like praying is for religious people.  This is my way of talking to my Divine and inviting the healing energy in to help me.  And it comes in exactly the way I need it most.  It comes and heals me.  And then, I say Thank You God!  Thank you Reiki!

“Patience is a Virtue, but darn does it have to take so long!”

Be patient.  Reiki helps me with this a great deal because patience does not come easy to me.  The healing process for many is a journey of discovery and learning.  A journey can take a long time.  Enjoy life as much as you can while you are going through the healing process.  Live your life as much as you can in between the difficult days.  If I waited until I was completely healed of depression before becoming a ‘healer’ I’d never be a healer.  You do your best, every day.  Do your meditation and Reiki every day and live your life in between and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up searching for your puzzle pieces to health and wellbeing. And when you need a friend to talk to, be your own best friend, call a friend who will listen or call a Reiki healer like me and let us help you.  You know I will understand.  I’ve been though much the same and can relate and be compassionate.  But, I can also see your beautiful and healthy soul and help you to know how to get to that place.

This life is a gift no matter what.  Never give up.

Love and Light to you all,

Josslyn

Reboot My LIfe – My Top 10 Juice Recipes

Twelfth in a series of blogs written by Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki for her series on nutritional healing and juicing.

My Top 10 Juice Recipes

Joss making one of her first juices with her new Omega juicer.

My favorite part about doing a juice cleanse is, you got it, the JUICE!  Most of the juice is delicious.  The juice is especially delicious right after you juiced it.  Mmmmmmm!  The blends you can make are endless.  I tailor my juices to what my body needs, loves and craves.  I also tailor it to what I have on hand in the fridge.  I have grown to love the fresh juice so much my body craves it daily.  If I miss a day I know it and can feel it in my body.  I don’t miss very often.  In fact, in three months of juicing I’ve missed three days total.  Not bad.  I throughly enjoy the process of making the juice and consistently repeat in my head positive affirmations while preparing my fruits and veggies, such as, “I’m doing this for my health.  I’m doing this for my beautiful body.”

So, I thought it was time to share my ten favorite juice recipes from the juice cleanse I did for detoxifying my body.  To read the other blogs about the juice cleanse click on the underlined words throughout the blog.

Biggest Question I Get

Teach your friends how to juice. I’ve motivated at least three friends/clients to start juicing in the three months since I’ve started. Let them taste how wonderful the juice is and how good it is for them and they’ll be hooked.  Lauren my Reiki Master/Teacher student juicing for the first time.  She said “I’m hooked!”

The number one question I get is “How do you find your juice recipes?”  Easy, the internet.  When I started I just typed in some of my favorite foods with juice, such as “pineapple juice recipe” and the internet did the work for me.  If you have a specific health issue you are working with, such as, stomach ulcers then you want to type in “Juice recipes for stomach ulcers.”  If I’m sick I type in “Immune system boosting juice recipes,” and so on.  Whatever you need for juice, you’ll be able to find a recipe that you like for the supplies you have.  It’s been quite easy.  That is how I found my first recipes.  I write them all down and keep them for later.  If you are a ‘friend’ on my Facebook page I also share a lot of juicing recipes on my page.  (Right hand margin of the page to join my Facebook family.)  I also got a whole batch of recipes with the ten-day cleanse that I did through Reboot Your Life website.  If you join their emailing list you can print a 5 day, 10 day or 15 day full menu fruit and vegetable cleanse from their nutritionist for free.  I got many wonderful recipes for juice, smoothies, salads, dressings and vegetarian dishes.  They were a wonderful resource for me.

Top Ten Juice Recipes

This is enough veggies for about two days worth of juice for me. My husband drinks some but not a meals worth so I can usually make enough for him to take to work too. I do two days at a time so I’m not making juice every single day. This is the makings of V8 juice. I didn’t like that one so I didn’t include it in the recipes. My blog. LOL

With no further ado, my top ten juice recipes, in order by the websites I got them from.  It was not easy to do.  I have so many I like it was actually hard to get them down to only ten.  So try them and let me know how you like them.  Add or delete items as you wish.  If you delete a dark green vegetable because you ran out or don’t like it, them make sure you replace it with another dark green.  Same with any color of fruit of veggie, replace with a fruit or veggie of the same color group.  Mix and match your juice to get a full rainbow of colors, nutrients and flavors.

Juice #1

Zucchini Juice

Unfortunately I didn’t write down the website I got this from because I was in a hurry when making it.  And, when I went to look back again, couldn’t find it.  I’ll keep looking and add it later for you.  I had a whole bunch of huge zucchini’s from a neighbor with a backyard garden and wanted a way to make use of them.  I found a delectable way.

  • 2 Lg Zucchini
  • 2 Apples
  • 1 C Spinach
  • 1 Lime
  • 2 C Parsley

Zucchini is great for juicing because it has lots of health benefits and a lot more actual juice than most dark green veggies.  Zucchini is a great source of vitamin B, potassium, fiber and some vitamin c and iron.  It is low in sugar and carbs.  Perfect!

Juice #2

Mean Green Juice

If you have seen the documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” then you have heard of the Mean Green Juice.  This is the juice they talk about drinking daily during their 60 day juice detox.  (I did ten days.  That’s enough for now.)  This is also the same people who run the “Reboot Your Life” website with the detox diet I did.  The Mean Green Juice is not only delicious, it’s packed with nutritious, as well.  (Yes, I did that on purpose.)

  • 6 Kale leaves
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 4 Celery stalks
  • 2 Green Apples
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • 1 in. piece Ginger

I put ginger is many of my juices for the awesome health benefits.  Ginger helps nausea, inflammation, boosts immune system function, is an antibacterial and antiviral, increases blood flow and helps with detoxification.  For more health benefits of ginger and a history, click this link.

Juice #3

Minty Fresh Berry Juice

Want to try a delicious fruit juice that the whole family will love?!  Here it is.  From Join the Reboot.

  • 2 C Blueberries
  • 2 Kiwi
  • 16 Strawberries
  • 2 C Mint Leaves
  • 1/4 Pineapple (optional, I added that)

I LOVE pineapple and use it in my juice as often as possible.  I’m a blood type A and follow the “Eat Right for your Blood Type” way of eating healthy and pineapple is great for type A’s.  Pineapple is an anti-inflammatory, it has lots of vitamins and minerals like C, B, potassium, thiamine, manganese and magnesium and works for your body as a natural electrolyte.  For more information about the health benefits of pineapple click on this link.

Juice #4

Fennel Pear Juice

Fennel is one of my newest and most favorite go to light green vegetables.  It looks like a root but smells like black licorice.  But the actual taste is much more subtle than black licorice.  It goes perfectly with a pear. Yum yum!  Also from Join the Reboot.

  • 2 Pears
  • 2 Med. Fennel bulbs

Pear and fennel is so refreshing.  Fennel actually has a lot of health benefits too.  Fennel offers relief from anemia, indigestion, flatulence, constipation, colic, diarrhea, respiratory disorders, menstrual disorders and bad breath.  It has a very subtle taste and so can easily be added to salads and other foods without taking over the taste.  Give it a try!

Juice #5

Mexican Style Jugo

Mexican Style Jugo, nice and spicy!

If you like spice, you’ll love this juice.  Pablano peppers are high in dietary fibers and low in calories making them ideal for weight loss. They also help to boost the metabolism of the body and can be used as a replacement of salt in low-sodium diets.  And, they make this juice just slightly spicy!!  Another great recipe from Join the Reboot.

  • 2 Lg. Cucumbers
  • 4 C Cilantro
  • 1 Lime
  • 1 Pablano Pepper (ribs and seeds removed)
  • 1 Golden Delicious Apple

Juice #6

Limeade

I have renamed this juice from Lemon Lime Juice to Limeade because it tastes like Limeade and I LOVE IT!!  I have to say, I crave many of the juices but particularly this one and the Mexican Jugo.  Can’t get enough of them.  Must be something in them I really need, THE LIME!!  Another great juice from Join the Reboot!

  • 1 Lime
  • 2 Pears
  • 2 Carrots (med to lg)
  • 1 Piece Ginger (thumb sized, I like lots, my husband likes less.  Tailor it to your taste)
  • 2 C Purple Cabbage

Juice #7

Green Earth Juice

from My Juice Cleanse

Another wonderful green juice.  My goal was to get more fruits and vegetables into my diet and all the wonderful nutrients that go along with them.  My body needs and craves dark green leafy vegetables.  Therefore, I make a dark green leafy juice at least five days out of seven.  Two days a week I take a break and make one of the other juices for variety and fun.

  • 1/4 head Cabbage
  • 3 Celery stalks
  • 1 Cucumber (med to lg)
  • 1 C  Spinach
  • 2 Green Apples
  • 1/2 inch Ginger piece

Once again, I LOVE spice so I use more ginger.  Ginger is a great liver cleanser as are dark green leafy’s so use what tastes good to you and enjoy.

Juice #8

Blue Green Lemonade

from My Juice Cleanse

  • 3 Kale leaves
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 2 Pears
  • 1/2 C Blueberries
  • 1 Lemon

Juice #9

Bright & Alert Juice

from My Juice Cleanse

  • 1/2 Pineapple
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Celery stalk

Juice #10

Pineapple Cleansing Juice

from My Juice Cleanse

  • 1/4 Pineapple
  • 1 Apple
  • 1/2 med Beet
  • 2 Carrots
  • 1/4 C Parsley
  • 1/4 inch Ginger

If you have been following my blog series you know that I have made great changes to my eating habits for chronic health reasons.  If you have not been following then I’ll provide links throughout so you can read the other posts if you’d like to.  I’m writing these blogs in hopes that my healing journey will help or motivate others on their healing journey.
Over the years my body gives me messages that it no longer will tolerate certain foods.  First was beef and pork almost twenty years ago.  Then wheat, sugar, soy and so on.  I realized early on I have a sensitive system.  This summer my body wanted me to rid myself of dairy and start a more raw food diet with a whole lot more vegetables.  Granted I have been getting this feeling for about a year but was not completely ready until this summer.  Usually this process takes time.  I have found I am more successful if my mental state is that I WANT to do this, I CHOOSE to do this and I am READY to do this.  I started doing this process with juicing and a ten-day fruit and vegetable cleanse through Reboot Your Life with their nutritionist and the help of my Naturopathic Doctor.  I started July 20th with the pre-clenase and have been going strong since.  (Today being the first of September, 2012)
Results of the Cleanse
So the results of the cleanse are  (three weeks after & continuing):
  • I have more energy on most days
  • Many of my natural supplements that I take for the chronic conditions, were cut down right away.  We continue to check dosage as my body changes with more and more greens.
  • Cravings for cheese are GONE!!  (HUGE FOR ME!)
  • I crave my vegetable juice every day.
  • I have a renewed desire to find healthy vegetarian recipes and actually make them for me and my family.  We are all benefiting from this one.
  • I have left behind forever some weight and when the six month detox is over I know my body will respond with leaving behind even more.
  • Spiritually I have gotten much-needed insight into the deeper issue to the chronic illness’ and how to work through them.
  • I am reconnecting to my physical body and learning once again to listen to my body and give it what it needs to thrive.
  • My chakras and energy bodies are cleaner, brighter and feeling much lighter.
  • I am releasing massive amounts of energy that I no longer need on all four levels; physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally all at the same time and very quickly.
  • I am finding it easier to ground myself in the morning and stay grounded though out the day.
Just the Facts
If you’ve read my blogs on the juice cleanse this far you are either a dear friend, a very lovely client or you may have a chronic illness of your own that you haven’t been able to get help for.  Good for you.  Don’t give up, ever.  Keep reading, keep researching, keep searching for a cure.  Here are some facts that I find astounding.  The way I see it, feel it and have experienced it, nutrition is our only hope to finding a cure for what ails us.  Although, with our nutrition being meddled with the way it is in modern life, with pesticides, genetically altered seeds and pollution in our soils and waterways, it gets harder and harder to eat in a healthy manner.  Other support therapies are necessary to support the healthy eating lifestyle as well.  Therapies, such as: Reiki, Acupuncture, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), IEH (Intuitive Energy Healing), NAET (allergy elimination), NET (Neuro-emotional Technique) and more can help us build up our immune systems and help us rid our bodies of the toxins that modern life helps to put there.  Each time we are able to work with one of these therapies we are raising our vibration and teaching our psychical body as well as our emotional body to LET GO of what does not serve us.  With this process we are teaching our bodies to become immune to these modern changes.  With this process, we are evolving to be more adaptable.  The only way to survive on this planet is to evolve and adapt.
Back to the Veggies
But, overall, heal yourself with fruits and vegetables and a diet tailored to YOUR mind, body and spirit.  Keep searching for the puzzle to YOUR healing journey.  Each puzzle piece you find gets you a little closer to feeling great.  Nutrition for most is the problem, the answer and the solution.  Are you ready to REBOOT YOUR LIFE!?
Here are some very important facts that may help motivate you to Reboot your diet:
  • 7 out of 10 deaths of every American is from chronic disease
  • 95% of all chronic disease is caused by food choice, toxic food ingredients, nutritional deficiencies, and lack of physical exercise.
  • 1 out of every 2 adults in America in 2005 had at least one chronic illness (HALF OF ALL ADULTS! WOW!)
  • 1 in 5 people suffer from Autoimmune disease (Women are 75% of this number.  30 million women!)
  • 90% of all chronic diseases are due to an infection of the gut, according to the Royal Society of Medicine

If you are trying to heal yourself, might be good to start with your diet.  Juicing is an easy and delicious way to get a whole lot more veggies into your diet every single day.  For maintenance I am supplementing my ‘normal’ diet of fruit and veggies for breakfast, usually in a smoothie, salads for lunch with beans and steamed or sautéed  veggies at dinner with one or two juices a day.  One juice a day is quite doable, two takes a little more commitment and planning.  The great thing about a fruit and veggie diet is they have so few calories, you are rarely hungry.  You can eat as much vegetables as you want!!  Eat up and enjoy!

Loving questions and comments are always welcome.  Let me know how YOU are doing on your healing journey.
