Peninsula Healers Circle – ‘The Work’ by Byron Katie

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

The Peninsula Healers’ Circle is a circle of holistic/integrative healing practitioners living and working on the north Olympic Peninsula of Washington state.

Our goals are to:
  • Build a mutually supportive community of healers
  • Develop a more in-depth understanding of the different healing modalities offered by members of the circle
  • Offer a site where people can locate healing practitioners  of various modalities in our area
  • Networking and referral base to offer appropriate integrative care to our clients

 What We Learned This Month

This month  at the Peninsula Healers Circle, member Debbie Ritter introduced our group to some of Byron Katie’s teachings called “The Work.”  This is a process to use when we are emotionally triggered by a situation involving someone else close to us.  The worksheet we did was called “Judge-Your-Neighbor worksheet.  But, it really turned into, as you can guess, finding out new insights into why we ourselves didn’t like the ‘neighbors’ behavior and YOU GUESSED IT, it always comes back to US.  This is our own personal universe after all.

PeninsulaHealersCircle9-19-14,1We all took the time to fill out the worksheet on a situation we were all dealing with.  The process is not difficult at all and you can just follow the directions right on the form that you can print off from Byron Katie’s website.  I like that it gives you the process, the left brain process to attack an emotional/mental issue you are having with someone.  The first step is to analyze the issue by asking “Is it true?”  Then “How do you react when you believe that thought?”

The Turn Around

Second and the most insightful part for me was turning each statement around to ourselves.  For instance if your statement was “My husband doesn’t listen to me about his health,” you would then turn that around to 1. the self, 2. to the other person and 3. to the opposite.  For example:

  1.  “I don’t listen to myself about my health.” Then contemplate this idea and write it on the worksheet.
  2.  “I don’t listen to my husband about his health,” then contemplate this idea and write it on the worksheet.
  3.  “My husband does listen to me about his health,” and contemplate this one and write it down.

This process, and following it step by step brought me and the others many new insights into our belief systems.  Then it’s up to us to change what we want to change now that we have some new ideas.

I do a process similar to this for myself with Reiki but I can see that by having the worksheet, nothing gets left out, no hole in your thinking is left to be found or not found later.  It was really fabulous and easy to follow but may take some WORK in being totally honest with yourself.  At Byron Katie’s  website you can print your own worksheets for The Work and have them ready any time you get triggered by a situation.

Check it out if you are feeling you need a little more help with judging others, or yourself.

Reminder

Always run your Reiki when doing any kind of mental, emotional, physical or spiritual healing, including The Work.  Reiki will help you go deeper in your healing and make sure you are protected while in the process.

Next month at the Peninsula Healers’ Circle I will be talking to the group about the importance of past life healing.  I can’t wait!

Reiki Through the Back Door

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master for Rain Shadow Reiki

Reiki Ideas for Reiki Healing Students

I’ve had a series of clients lately who consciously come to me and want help but subconsciously have blocks up to protect themselves.  You can often tell these people when they are on your table.  Often they leave their eyes open the entire time where other clients close their eyes soon after getting on the table.  Or they will close their eyes but you can tell that these clients do not go to a deep level of relaxation at all and maybe try to keep you in conversation with them much of the time.   Or you can just tell they are not relaxed and having a hard time even closing their eyes and staying on the table.  I can FEEL the tension in them.  Often it feels like they want to jump off of the table and run out the door.  Sometimes it feels like they are trying so hard to hold on to what they truly want to release and this causes tension in them.  Change is stressful for most of us, asking for change can be even more stressful.

If you feel lost at anytime, as your Reiki guides for help.
If you feel lost at anytime, ask your Reiki guides for help.

This usually indicates a high level of a need to control their environment for fear or trust reasons.  It is ok.  Reiki can help with that.  It will just take a little more time and sometimes different techniques than you learn in Reiki I or II.  This is the kind of technique you usually learn from your guides with lots of practical experience.  That is who I have learned it from and I’m going to give you some tips here as to what they have told me to do.

Chances are, if you read this, you’ll get a chance to practice it on a client very soon.

Reminder

Reiki will help any condition, I believe, if given proper time.  The healing journey is a journey, it takes time for most people.  Some people take many years, many lifetimes building up these fears and trust issues, it will take some time to break them down in a safe and trusting manner as well.  If this client has come to you for help, at least they know they need and want help.  That is the first step.  The second step is making sure they feel safe enough to come back.  If we do anything to invade their protective space during the healing session then they may not come back and that is not what we want.  Sometimes we need to back off with this type of client and give them space to heal themselves with the Reiki leading the way.  This quite often has worked well with my clients.  But, at the same time, if they do not feel better, feel some kind of results, they may not come back.  It is critical to not be afraid of any of these outcomes and just TRUST in the Reiki and that it will do exactly what it is supposed to do to help this person TODAY.  Trust in the Reiki and trust in your guides to help you and show you or tell you what needs to be done to help them.

Heart Chakra Case

I recently had a client whose heart chakra was dangerously shut down to a point where I could not feel any movement at all.  I could FEEL the tight constriction in his chest so tight that it was making ME feel ill and I couldn’t handle the discomfort.  I raised my hands off of his chest and up above but that still wasn’t enough.  I knew that if his chakra stayed this way too long he would be in danger of physical illness, such as; heart attack, cutting off his ability to love or be loved.  Our heart chakra is of utmost importance because it is the go-between of all the major chakras.  It is the interface between our upper and lower chakras and if it is clogged up it’s difficult to get any of the others healthy and balanced.  So, I knew I needed something to help him and fast.  In this session I just felt I needed to get his chakra open a bit and moving.  I asked my guides for their help and they gave me a visual to follow.  Here is what they had me do.  Plus, here are other ideas that my guides have given me when I’ve been in a tough spot.  Ask your guides for help and check with what feels right for your client.BackDoorSpiralStaircase

Reiki Back Doors

Go in the back door.  There are multiple ways to do this.  Try them in this order but it is always best to follow your intuition.  If the first one does not work then try the next one and so on.  Please ask your Reiki guides to help you with this process for each individual client:

  1. Back off psychically. Turn off the psychic information and just let the Reiki do its work.  You may even need to turn off your conscious mind, go deep in trance and just let the Reiki flow without your ego or left brain involved.  Practice this.
  2. Talk to your client very gently, explaining what is going on and letting them know that their help would be great at this point. Have them set the intention in their minds that their chakra open and they allow the Reiki energy in to heal them.  The client came to you for a reason, get them involved in their healing.  Quite often this is enough.
  3. Ask Divine Source to send help – in the Highest and most Sacred Order of Reiki guides, healing guides and angels to help this person so you don’t have to work so hard.  Remember, it is not about you, it is about them and doing the highest good for them.  Get your ego out of the way and refocus on the Reiki healing that is taking place, it is all in Divine order.
  4. Run Reiki on their subconscious mind with the intention that the greatest healing the client needs will take place here.  Run it for a while until you FEEL that the client trusts you and you can move back to their heart chakra.  (Or whatever chakra it is that is blocked.)  If you are a Reiki II use the Long Distance symbol and the Mental/Emotional healing symbol to aid this subconscious work.  Then move back to the chakra you were working on.
  5. If you are a Reiki Master/Teacher work with your Master symbol (R) to separate the client from the situation and/or the NGZ symbol to break up blockages.  One or both of these symbols may help the client’s subconscious mind to take a back seat and allow the Reiki in.
  6. Give them space, move back away from them physically and either do long distance Reiki on them or just run gentle Reiki on their aura.  Quite often this will allow them to feel it is on their terms, their choice and then they will open up to the healing being offered.
  7. Go in the back door.  This is what my guides showed me to do for this heart chakra client.  Literally lay under the massage table and run the Reiki into the back side of their heart chakra to get their heat chakra moving again.  This worked for my particular client really well.  Sometimes going in the back allows the Reiki to flow in easier and without the subconscious blockages that the client has on their front side.  Remember every client is different.  Ask your guides what will work best for yours.  In very important situations like this one, this can work well.  Not a first line though.  Check with your guides so that you are not invading or disrespecting your client’s personal space.

Confused? Stuck? ASK YOUR REIKI GUIDES FOR HELP!!
Confused? Stuck? ASK YOUR REIKI GUIDES FOR HELP!!

Deep Issues

Many of these issues are deep because the client has pushed them down in denial for a very long time and past life issues that have stuck around because they never dealt with them.  The client will not remember them or even be aware of them.  The Reiki will help to bring them to the surface when the client is ready, heal them and move them out.  This process again takes time and it may take this client multiple sessions before they really start relaxing on the table.  It is critical that YOU as the Reiki Practitioner has total Trust and Faith that the Reiki will do it’s job, and it will.

Your trust and faith in the Reiki’s abilities will translate energetically to the client’s energy and they will be much more likely to stick with the sessions and believe they can help them.  If we truly believe, they will too.  It’s all energy, it all translates in understanding.

Head Cold or Healing Opportunity? A Healers Healing Story

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

I had a head cold last week.  Yes, healers get sick too.  How else do we learn so much about healing if we don’t actually DO the process ourselves?!!  Yes, rhetorical question, but you’d be surprised at how many people expect Energy Healers to be perfect, as if being able to channel Divine Energy can only be done by Jesus and Buddha.   When really, it is actually very much the opposite, anyone can do this and everyone needs to do this and we all need to believe we can.  We all learn by doing, which is why we are here on this planet having these very human experiences.  Reiki Masters are no different, I learn through my human self and share the lessons with my clients.  But, I digress…let me step off my soap box and get to the topic at hand…

Blog Goals

By telling you my healing story I hope to:

  •  Empower you to practice with your Reiki for EVERYTHING in your life, bringing you closer to YOUR Creator.
  • Empower you to experiment with other healing modalities while working with Reiki as your spiritual and healing base, or grounding tool, if it feels right to you.
  • Empower you to think outside the ‘box’ as to other ways in which to work with your Reiki.
  • Give you an example of how I use different techniques along with my Reiki to do a self-healing.  I believe with some practice, anyone can do this.

Head Cold History

In order to accomplish these goals, allow me to share a personal healing story.

Growing up my body’s ‘go to’ sickness was head colds.  I got them A LOT!  TOO MUCH.  A sore throat, plugged up nose, popping achy ears, you probably know the drill.  My family didn’t know about natural healing back then so I used the horrible nose drops that never really worked but made me feel like I was at least DOING SOMETHING.  This was a chronic condition for me that worsened through college and beyond until I started learning about the whole new world of natural medicines.  Now, I rarely get head colds and if I do they are mild compared to the one or two-week long dramas that they were in my youth.

New Attitude

It helps a lot that I have a new attitude about being physically ill.  I now view it as a healing opportunity rather than a waste of time.  Every time we are sick, it is a conversation we could be having with our body/mind/spirit.  Our bodies are working very hard to tell us something.  When we believe being ill is a waste of time or just something that we have to live with from time to time, we are in deed wasting a precious learning opportunity.  Rarely is an illness only on the physical level, yet we will usually only heal it on that level when we have the ‘waste of time’ frame of mind.  Typically illness is on two or three levels at the same time, and can also be on all four levels of our energy body: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.  This means that in order to truly heal this ‘dis-ease’ fully, we must heal all four levels that need healing.  Yes, this can take many years of head colds before we get to all the levels because all four levels are not always ready to heal at the same time.  We can heal the levels that are ready, when they are ready and then move on to the others when they are ready.  If we are not truly healing, either we are not listening or we are not quite ready mentally, emotionally, or spiritually to know what it is that we need to heal.  Often we are ready on one level but not yet on another.  It is a process like any other journey.

Past Life Self Healing For My Head Cold

I knew this head cold was a BIG one for me.  It comes after two whole years of not being sick with a head cold at all (a really long time for me), it comes in the summer which rarely happens for me AND it comes in a year where I’ve been healing a lot of very deep physical issues.  I just ‘knew’ this was a big opportunity to heal myself.  IF, I did not ignore it.  The head cold issue has been with me for as long as I can remember in this life.  It has an important message for me. And now, thanks to Reiki and the other healing abilities I’ve learned, I knew I had a special opportunity to heal this.  Possibly for the last time.

Many Lives of Not Being Able to Breathe

While in the throes of the worst part of the cold I couldn’t breathe at all.  For me, this is the most intolerable part of being sick.  I absolutely hate not being able to breathe.  It makes it hard to sleep and for some reason was bringing up a lot of fear this time that I hadn’t felt before.  I had been doing essential oils which helped some, natural supplements, neti pot, warming sock treatment, etc.  Everything I know and others could tell me about, I was doing it.  But, listening to my intuition, I felt I needed something more, something focused, something different energetically.

I felt that I needed to do some EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) along with Reiki, which has been very effective for me in the past.  I like that with EFT and Reiki, once you have the ability and the knowledge, they are always with you, where ever you need them.  Any time, any where. (EFT heals us by the light tapping of our fingers on meridians around the body.  The tapping along with certain phrases releases trauma from the physical body by releasing it from the nervous system. Read more at the link.)

THE HOW  –  IN STORY FORM THIS TIME

So even though I do Reiki on myself when I’m sick and self Reiki every day, I felt this time I needed to do EFT.  Trust your gut as to what you need.

So, it’s very late at night and I still can’t fall asleep, I’m exhausted from being sick and not sleeping well.  In my Reiki Gassho,  I call on my Reiki and my Reiki Guides to be with me, surround me with spiritual power, protection and support before I do any healing/spiritual work.  I ask my guides to guide me through the process of the EFT, to help me tap on the phrases that will be most effective and healing for me.  I sit for a moment and think about the problem of not being able to breathe and how that makes me feel.  If a thought doesn’t come to me to tap on, I just start tapping on “Even though I can’t breathe and I can’t sleep, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”  I start tapping on that.  While tapping I’m aware of other thoughts that may come up to tap on next time.  If nothing comes up I tap on “Even though I STILL can’t breathe….etc.”  Then I go from there.  The Reiki is guiding me, supporting me on all levels during the process and protecting  me at the same time.  My guides are helping me to listen to my body and my Higher Guidance to get the next phrase to tap on.  I then feel fearful of not being able to breathe so I tap on that.  “Even though not being able to breathe is making me afraid, …”   I allow my Reiki guides to feed me the phrases I need and the wording I need to tap on most.  Each time I tap on a phrase I can feel the layers falling away, first getting more intense and then afterwards, lessening.

Then as I’m getting deeper and deeper into the emotions of not being able to breathe I start seeing visions of being trapped, trapped in a very small space under a very large stone building, like a pyramid or a cathedral, but it’s not just one life and it’s not just one building, it’s multiple.  Three lives.  I ‘see’ three lives with this same theme of being trapped and not being able to breathe.  The information from the three different lives mixes and mingles with each other making it difficult for me to tell them apart but I’m aware of them being slightly different but with the same overall theme.  I feel and imagine the largeness and heaviness of the building above me and that creates fear too.

In one of the lives I get incredibly anxious and start to ‘freak out.’  I’m not alone, others are with me and try to calm me down.  The whole group cannot move forward in the tunnel until I calm down and keep moving forward but the anxiety is so intense I can’t move, I cannot think straight, I just scream and cry.  We are on our hands and knees in the tunnel trying to get away from someone.  The others try to calm me because we are all at risk of being found if I don’t calm down.  I’m endangering everyone.  The fear is incredibly intense and overwhelming me to the point where I feel I might go crazy there, trapped.  I can’t ‘see’ the outcome and this bothers me.  I decide in order for me as Josslyn to move forward I need to ‘pretend’ I see an outcome, I take control of this part of the vision and move myself forward to be calmer and able to listen to the others help and advice.  I imagine the Reiki surrounding me with its Love and Light, protecting me.  This calms me down too. I’m able to go back to the vision, calmer and viewing it from a more distant place.

It’s dusty and I can’t breathe.  I believe I’m going to die.  I don’t know the way out, I feel trapped like I’ll die in here with no way out, no breath, no help.  I feel I have tunnel vision and can’t see what is truly going on through the panic.  I’m not very old, maybe a young teen, but very scared.  I feel that others are looking for us in one or more of the lives.  I feel we are being pursued and that causes additional layers of fear to come forth.  The dust is so thick I cannot see or breathe and that causes another layer of frustration, agitation, fear, anxiety, it’s all getting layered on top of each other causing my past life self to panic.  I, Josslyn, keep tapping the whole time and tap on the past lives I’m experiencing.  I tap on the fear, I tap on the past life, I tap on the anxiety, the feeling of being trapped, not being able to breathe and I tap on the fear of death.  I keep tapping on these issues while I cry and freak out a little myself because I’m getting too close to the situations in the lives again and it feels too real to me now, too scary and I need to distance myself.  I chant the Mental/Emotional Symbol to help me calm down and ask my guides to help me distance myself from these past life experiences.  Again,  I get calmer.  I can breathe a bit.  I suddenly remember a dream I had a couple of nights before I got sick of being trapped in exactly the same manner and so I tap on the dream and the emotions I feel about it all.  I finally calm down after almost an hour and a half of tapping on my meridians.

I feel I’ve had enough.  I do some self Reiki to help me clean and clear my energy and with the intention of helping me to release everything I’ve learned on all levels ONCE  AND FOR ALL!  I pray for healing at all levels, so that whatever healing has been done is done completely and thoroughly.  I can breathe now.  Then I sleep.

Dear Sweet Sleep

I slept that night being able to breathe and I woke up the next morning being able to breathe.  I’ve been breathing since very nicely while my body is still working through the last stages of the virus.  It is not an instantaneous healing, but I believe I will not have to go through those layers again.  They are done.  I do feel there is more I need to tap on in regards to this issue, throat,  ears, my immune system, etc.  But, I feel relief.  I feel lighter.  I feel the fear of those past lives gone.  I feel free from those layers and I’m grateful for that.  If  I do get a head cold again in the future, I am confident it will be much less on the physical level, the last layer to get to.  Now I’ll be kind to my body and give it time to catch up to the other levels.  I have found that it usually takes my physical body a little longer to catch up to the other levels after a healing.  It does catch up, if I’m gentle and kind to it.

How I felt coming out of the tunnel!! FREE!! SAFE!! LIGHT!!
How I felt coming out of the tunnel!! FREE!! SAFE!! LIGHT!!  The Light at the end of the tunnel!!

Be gentle and kind to yourselves and if you feel so motivated, practice your Reiki on yourself every day, rain or shine, tired or energized.  It will guide you through your healing journey too.

Many Blessings to you all,

thanks for reading,

Past Life Healing Notes- A Samurai Wife, Honored

by Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

REINCARNATION?

If you do not personally believe in reincarnation you can think of past life healing information as a kind of dream, a subconscious story, or a play that is similar to what you are going through now in your life but with different characters acting it out for you. It could be a story from our mind, from our guides, or even from our ancestral D.N.A. that we need to consciously know about now, in order to heal.  A past life healing allows for us to experience and relive the story but not so we are experiencing it in the now where it would be too close, too emotional.  It aids the client in being able to rise above their personal situation and see it from a more universal perspective, and then heal it with the Reiki Divine Energy.

A SAMURAI WIFE HONORED

My client, Sandy, came in for a spirit guide reading.  However, I’m a healer at heart and so are my guides, sometimes when you come in for one thing, you get a lot more than you asked for.  She got a spirit guide reading, a past life reading, a soul retrieval and a Reiki healing all in one.

I was just as surprised as her when first, one, then two and then three huge samurai warriors came in to greet her and honor her work in a past life.  She told me she wasn’t aware of any Japanese influence in this life.  But, she connected to the story, the people and the emotions as the past life story unfolded bit by bit.

These samurai men are acting as spirit guides in this life but they were also here to give her a message and to help her heal the energy and emotions from this past life.  Sandy had been a samurai wife, daughter and daughter in law.  She grew up in a community and family of the samurai way of life.  Samurai were from wealthy or aristocratic families and were much like the Knights of European countries, came from privilege and were trained to protect the King and country.

They were a close-knit community not allowing outsiders in or near.  Sandy was much-loved and admired by the whole community for taking care of the elderly and children in the entire community. She worked hard and diligently for the needs of others.  She was doting and compassionate to her own two boys as well.  But the men in the community were often gone for long periods of time and often did not come home at all.  When they were home, the love and care that Sandy gave them was much taken for granted and simply expected.  This was their way of life and they believed in it and lived it with honor but that does not mean it was easy.

This family is coming though as your protection in this life and honoring you for your past life as their wife and daughter.” I told her as the message came through.  “As powerful men and warriors they did not realize the sacrifices the women back home-made.  They did not understand or want to understand at the time, how hard it was on you to say good-bye to your loved ones each time they left.  They are honoring you now.

Your samurai husband says he loves you and he placed his hand on his heart to show this, but you made awful soup!”   (LOL  Spirit often comes through with a wonderful sense of humor.)  She was not a good cook but a loving and a wonderful mom and wife in so many ways. They went on more and more about the soup having us rolling in laughter by the thought of it and the connection Sandy felt to it in this life.  She does not like to cook much but says she’s a good cook.  The samurai guides talked about how she would take this soup to the elderly in town but they would not want to eat it.  But, they often would out of necessity and to honor her gift.  I love how spirit often goes into details that we may not think are important but they are to the people hearing them. It brought a light-hearted realism to the whole event.

A group of Samurai men.

They want you to know that you are a warrior too! You gave your whole life caring for others, living in difficult conditions and emotional ups and downs and you never showed that it was challenging for you in any way.

Sandy in the other life often dreamed of being a samurai herself as she watched her boys training in their martial arts and sword studies.  She had some private fantasies of being a warrior (The character Mulan came to mind here) and going off to fight the glorious battles herself, traveling to far off places, she romanticized it much in order to deal with the reality.  So hearing now, that she was being honored as a warrior of the heart, was a big deal and caused tears in all of us.

The samurai warriors also told us how difficult it was for her to watch her boys grow up knowing that one day, they too would leave to fight and possibly not come back.  The tug at her heart-strings was often too much for her, but she held it inside, where no one else would know or be bothered by it.  Her oldest son in this Japanese life is now her sister, Cammie.  They are very close and working through their own heart issues together in this life as sisters.  In fact they are so close they came to this reading together to share in the experience.

HEART HEALING

The three samurai protect her today in this life as Sandy, they stand to her sides and one behind her at all time.  But, they also brought her a very special gift.  Part of their duties to protect her was to bring back her heart soul part. She left almost half of it with them, each time they’d leave for a ‘mission’ she’d send part of her heart with them. When they didn’t come back to her, her heart didn’t come back either. They cared for her heart until she was humanly ready to bring it back, to deal with the difficult emotions again and to heal this area for good.  They brought her heart soul parts in an old carved wooden box.  They had gathered each one that she left with them.  They put them back together like a puzzle, finally once again as one piece.   Each soul part comes back in its own way, I have found, so they guided me on how to best bring this soul part back and put it back in her energetically.

SOUL PARTS

When life on Earth gets to be too emotional, too difficult, or too traumatic, we sometimes split our energy off and send it somewhere else.  This is sometimes consciously done but usually subconsciously done to protect ourselves.  When we are ready, feel strong enough, we seek out a healer or Shamanic Practitioner to help us get them back.

Antique Japanese wooden box from late 18th century, looks similar to the box they brought her heart back in. A bit smaller than this and with a bit more decoration.

We may not know that is what we need, but our Divine guidance gets us to the right person to handle the healing process.  Often when soul parts come back it is a very emotional experience, especially when it is ones heart.  This is a big and momentous occasion worth celebration and honor of the soul part coming back.  Her guides instructed her on a proper ceremony to welcome her soul parts back and to help integrate them back into her energy field over time.

UPDATE

This was a very recent healing so we still are not fully aware of the healing implications of meeting the samurai and them bringing her heart back.  Often times, after bringing back such a large part of a heart soul part, things get worse before they get better.  It takes time to integrate and release the old to bring in the new.  Once the integration takes place and old energies and people are gone from your life, things get better.   I do know that Sandy has been able to stand up to some very challenging people in her life that she no longer wanted to be a part of her world.  She put up healthy boundaries and told them to leave.  This took a great deal of courage on her part and it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if the samurai helped her with this process.

Blessings to you all for reading about this healing.  If you are interested in learning about your past lives, call or email me for a healing of your own.  You won’t be bored, of that I can assure you.

In Love and Light,

Josslyn

Practice Reiki On Your Pets

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki

My four legged client, M.M. the day after her Reiki session. Her mom said "Can you say, RELAXED?! Yes she can. Animals heal very quickly on the physical level with Reiki. It still takes them a little longer on the emotional and mental level, say after an abusive situation, but they do process and heal on the whole quicker than humans. They don't seem to have as many mental layers as we do. That is one reason working with animals is so rewarding. Give it a try.

I often tell my new students if they want to truly see and feel the effects of Reiki quickly, to work on their pets, or anyones pets.  Animals respond very quickly and often quite predictably with Reiki.  I have found this very much with dogs, whom I work with the most.  They will often sniff your hand to investigate the Reiki, then they will settle down somewhere near by and comfortable to them, even on your lap, and quickly doze into a Reiki nap.  I have often witnessed that they get so deeply in their Reiki trance that if I talk, cough or breath loudly and/or move, they will quickly jolt awake and look at me annoyed.  Oops, I bothered their Reiki nap.  They get back quickly to it and are snoring away again.  Then they wake up when they’ve had enough and come lick you or they look at your very pointedly to say “Thank you for the Reiki!”   I’ve heard other students describe the same situation with their dogs and even cats when they do Reiki on them.  It is obvious they are soaking up the Reiki.   Even new Reiki students can often feel the Reiki being pulled from their outstretched hands towards their pet.  It is an awesome feeling and quite reassuring that the Reiki is doing its thing.  This is the kind of confirmation people are looking for when they are new to Reiki and are still working at FEELING the Reiki energy flow.  It takes practice and more practice before your hand chakras get sensitive to the energy and you start to feel it regularly.  Practicing on your pets is a great way to get this confirmation early on in your practice.

Practicing with Pets

  1. Sit in the same room with the pet you’ll be working on, where they are most comfortable.
  2. Perform your Gassho (prayer position).  During your Gassho let Divine know that the pet can take as much or as little or none of the Reiki energy and that it is totally up to them.  They have free will as to whether or not they want Reiki.  Yes, some do turn it down, and that is just fine.  Try again another time.  When they know you respect their wishes they are much more likely to let you another time.
  3. Put up your hands and run the Reiki across the space between you and your pet.  If it is a new animal to you, a small pet, or a small pet in a cage, stay across the room and run it to them from there.
  4. Give the pet time to get used to the energy and decide if they want it or not.  Given the choice, they usually do.
  5. Allow them to pull the energy, never push an animal to take Reiki.  You will feel the energy being pulled from your hands and after a few minutes start to build.
  6. When you get a message from the pet that the Reiki session is over (they get up and leave, they say thank you to you, they wake up and start to play again, the energy stops pulling) or if you have to leave, thank them for the opportunity to give them Reiki and close with your Gassho.

Every animal is different but every one of them is a gift to practice Reiki on.  You’ve got nothing to lose by practicing on your pet.  Give it a try.  Let me know how it goes.

Animal Reiki by Kathleen Prasaad and
Animal Reiki by Kathleen Prasad and Elizabeth Fulton

Much of my style for working with animals and Reiki comes from “Animal Reiki” by Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad.  Their technique is very kind and gentle for all animals and extremely heart centered.  A fabulous book if you do not have it in your library I highly recommend it.  I have it available in the Rain Shadow Reiki lending library if you are close and would like to check it out.

Ego, Friend or Foe?

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki

I have talked over the years with many other healers about the ego.  It’s a big topic and everyone seems to have a different way of handling their ego during a Reiki healing on a client.  Most people see the ego as a negative influence on the healing process; questioning, denying our intuitive thoughts, etc.   Therefore many people label it as bad, in the way, something that needs to be dealt with, like a naughty child.

What if we heal it, not extinguish it?
What if we heal it, not extinguish it?

I have considered these views over the years and tried many of the methods I’ve been taught by others.  Unfortunately, none of them felt right to me.  I believe it is because over the many years of healing myself and my thought processes, I have found that my ego has been here all this time mainly to protect me from myself and others who have hurt me.  It adds a cushion between me and getting hurt again.  Like many things in our lives, this protection may have been needed as a child, or at one time in my life, but as I have grown and changed, I have new tools to work with now.  I have Reiki and I’m an adult with a new more mature view on life, so this type of protection is no longer needed.  But, it keeps ‘protecting’ me whether I want it to or not because that is how our human selves are made.

What Is Ego Protection?

Treating my ego like this didn't feel right to me. It was like punishing a part of me. I had to come up with a new way that worked for me and my ego both.
Treating my ego like this didn’t feel right to me. It was like punishing a part of me. I had to come up with a new way that worked for me and my ego both.

Often the ego protects us in the form of what seems like negative behaviors;  defensiveness, anger, procrastination, non-movement or freezing, judgment towards others or yourself, and any other ‘negative’ behavior that protects you from living life to the fullest or making so-called mistakes.

Example of Ego Protection

For example, when we meet a new friend, we may be excited because we really like them and we feel a connection to them.  Maybe you are really ready to make a new friend and have been asking Divine to send you someone you really connect with.   But then your ego may cause you to sabotage the friendship in someway because you’ve been hurt by friends in the past.  It could have been in childhood, or even in a past life, probably both.  You may not even remember the original incidence, but your ego does.  Your subconscious mind remembers and created a protection device way back when to help you not make the same mistake again.  Well, the same mistake might be keeping you from having long-lasting friendships or even long-lasting relationships now.  Even though this happened a long time ago, it’s still ruling your current life.   Probably not what you want.  We have many of these protections that our mind and ego together have created.  Our mind creates the thought process and our ego carries out the orders, like the heavy.  It’s a great plan, until it’s not.

Ego Vs. Intuition

Quite often, as a Reiki practitioner, our ego gets in the way of the process of Reiki flowing during a healing on others or on our self.  When intuitive information comes in, sometimes the ego second guesses it, questions it or totally dismisses it.  This ‘conversation’ can be going on in our heads causing a blockage of energy flow and information flow.  This also often causes us to not be grounded during a session because of the battle being waged in our minds.  Not the scenario we want.  We want the energy flowing as well as the intuitive information without questioning without blockage.

Why does this happen?

EgoBornofFearThere are many reasons this may happen.  This is something you’ll need to work on with Reiki and meditation on your own to figure out.  But, one theme I have found quite common amongst healers is the past life theme of judgment, condemnation or death for being a witch, healer, pagan, or psychic.  Therefore, our ego believes it is not safe to do healing or intuitive work and therefore protects us from doing this.  Many of us in this day and age feel quite safe doing this kind of work but our ego remembers long ago when it was not.  It is still protecting us to this day because it does not feel safe.

Positive Vs. Negative

When you start viewing the world as ‘It’s all good!” then it becomes all good and much can be healed.  When I started viewing my ego as a positive part of me that is here to help me, I was able to open up to ways to help heal my ego and thus heal me.  A whole new world opened up to me.  Anything can be viewed this way because we learn from everything.  Therefore, everything is good.  Even illness can be a gift when we view it as part of our learning journey on this planet.

How to Heal Your Ego While in a Healing Yourself

Prior to a healing or meditation, this is how I take care of my ego so as to keep the energy and information flowing nicely.  I do the prayer position or the Gassho before every meditation and healing that I do.  So this is my technique.  As always, this is one way, a way that I have found that works for me.  I teach this in my classes and have found it to work well.  If it doesn’t work for you then please feel free to be creative and find what works with your ego.  There is no wrong.  We are all unique and we all require a unique method that speaks to us.

  1. Place your hands in prayer position, the Gassho.  While doing your beginning invocation; grounding, affirming safe and sacred space, and affirming that you are a clear channel for the Reiki energy, you also add in a place for your ego to go. (If you don’t remember the Gassho, get your Reiki I manual out or your Reiki book and review this information.  I find it extremely helpful to my centering of my mind and being prepared during a healing situation.)
  2. The first few times you do this, put extra intention and visualization into it.  You may want to practice this before you meditate so you can spend a little more time on it at first.  Then add it to your healing invocation.
  3. Create a safe space for you ego to go during the meditation/healing.  I send my ego to the day spa.  I create a beautiful sanctuary like space up above my higher self in between me and my Divine Source connection.  I imagine my ego on a massage table receiving Reiki healing from angels and spirit guides.  Get creative with this and make the spa irresistible to your ego, so wonderful that your ego will want to stay there for a very long time.

If your ego feels like this, it won't be bothering you during your healing.
If your ego feels like this, it won’t be bothering you during your healing.
  4. I hold the intention that my ego is receiving a healing just like myself or my client and that for the greatest good for all, my ego will get the healing it needs and deserves for the many years of service it has given me.  Be truly heart centered here.
  5. Ask Divine Source, Mother Father God, to send down the Highest and most Sacred Order of Reiki guides to help with the healing of your ego while they also help you with the Reiki healing or meditation you are about to do.  Ask that your ego get everything it needs to feel safe and secure during this time.
  6. Wait until you FEEL that your ego is safe and happy and then move on to your healing or meditation.
  7. Continue healing your ego with meditation, psychotherapy, hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Technique or any other technique that works well for you in between healings.  These are powerful healing tools for the mind.

Remember the ego is a part of us, a part that is doing it’s best to help us and even heal us.  When we open up to new possibilities, miracles can happen.  How is your ego trying to help you?

That’s it.  Practice, intend, visualize and put emotion into it and you’ll be all good!!

Let me know how it goes, I love to hear from you!!

Blessings to you all,

Josslyn

“Touchy Feely,” Reiki Movie Coming to the Big Screen

by Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki

TouchyFeelyPosterLet me premise this by saying I have not seen this movie yet.  I have read about it and watched the trailer.   However, with the amazing cast of strong women leads whom I enjoy and respect as actors, such as Allison Janney who plays ME, the Reiki Master (not really me, but someone like me) Ellen Page who was fabulous in “Juno” and Rosemarie DeWitt who was unforgettable in “United States of Tara”,  I’m having a very hard time believing that I will not be adding this to my collection right away after first making a very rare for me appearance at the theatre to see it on the big screen.

The story (taken from IMDB) is about a massage therapist, Rosemarie DeWitt, who is unable to do her job when stricken with a mysterious and sudden aversion to bodily contact.  Meanwhile, her uptight brother’s floundering dental practice receives new life when clients seek out his healing touch.  After, may I add, he goes to Bronwyn, played by Allison Janney, for Reiki.

Rosemarie DeWitt plays a massage therapist suddenly afraid of physical contact.
Rosemarie DeWitt plays a massage therapist suddenly afraid of physical contact.

I have to admit, I’m extremely excited for Reiki and energy healing to be on the big screen and finally get the recognition that it deserves.  Millions of people are becoming more and more familiar with it every day through Dr. Oz, magazine and newspaper articles and now the big screen.  Every time someone hears about Reiki or sees it in print, it becomes more of a norm and therefore ‘not crazy’ to people who would have called it crazy prior.  When people here something three times from three different sources, all of a sudden, it becomes accepted much more readily.  People are opening up and I’m praying, that they did a quality job in this movie, so it will help.  Plus it’s considered a comedy so they’ve chosen to go the lighthearted route which I readily approve of for a first time out.

SUPPORT REIKI IN THE MAINSTREAM

It’s all good, right?!  All publicity is good publicity.  So, please support this Reiki movie and go see it, buy it at the store, talk about it with your friends, drag your friends to the movies with you, whatever it takes to get the Reiki word out there.  The more people who ‘wake up’, the bigger that Love and Light snowball gets and the better for all of us as earthly neighbors.

Here is a link to the YouTube video for the trailer.  Enjoy.

Reiki Quick Tip – Healing Trauma Through Childhood Photo Albums

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher of Rain Shadow Reiki and her dear friend, Stephanie Pelly

Joss' baby album. (Please do not use these photos.)
Joss’ baby album. (Please do not use these photos.)

There are many ways to heal your childhood trauma.  The key is finding the perfect one for YOU.  A close friend of mine and I were talking on the phone and she came up with a great one and said I could share it with my readers.  She had the idea, instead of hashing up memories that your mind has repressed from childhood for good reason, going through your family photo album and doing Reiki on all the different photographs instead.  We usually only have photos of the happy times which reinforces that there were indeed happy times even if the unhappy times are overshadowing them right now.  But, if we run the Reiki over the photo album with the intention of healing all the times in between the photos, healing will take place.  Our intention and desire to heal those more difficult times is very strong and will direct the Reiki to heal what is needed most.  This may take some time like any healing or therapy, but it could be a win/win situation.  While NOT having to rehash the ‘bad’ times you are also reinforcing the ‘good’ times that you and your family had at the same time by looking at the ‘happy’ photos.

Where to Start?

Joss at 1 week old, so cute and shy.

You could start with one photo or memory at a time.  You could start with one page at a time and do a little bit each week or each month. Or you could start with one phase of your life at a time.  Whatever feels right to you.

Healing Birth Trauma

This could be a great way to heal birth trauma as well since many of us don’t actually have conscious memories of our birth but some of us have photos relating to it, hospital or being wrapped in a blanket and held shortly after.  Reiki those photos with the intent of healing your baby self’s birth trauma.

Be Kind to Yourself

Be patient with yourself and the process.  For some, healing childhood memories could be easy and quick and for others it could be a very long and challenging process, yet fruitful as well.  It could be good to do some Reiki on yourself prior to working on a difficult time frame in your life or before doing this process at all.  You can trust your intuition on what you need.  Be kind to yourself in the process and do Reiki on yourself as often as possible and as often as needed.  When it feels too much emotionally then stop and do Reiki on yourself to guide yourself through the process.  It’s all good.  Pick it up later when you are calmer and ready.  The trick is, to be patient and take your time, but to not give up.  If you feel this particular process is helping, then keep it up.

Sending blessings to all of you healing your child self, Love and Light your way,

Josslyn

Reiki for Depression

By Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki

This information is NOT for medical use and should never take the place of medical care.  If you suffer from depression or symptoms of depression please see a Licensed Naturopathic Doctor (or your doctor) as soon as possible.  Naturopathic Doctors are medical doctors who use only natural medicines to heal.

Lemon Balm is an herb known to help moods.
Lemon balm is a favorite for herbalists treating symptoms of anxiety, sleeplessness and depression.

Reiki for Depression

Something I have difficulty writing about and therefore do it rarely is my history of depression.  I’m very open with people in person, with friends and clients alike, but putting it into the written word in a blog is a whole other thing for me.  I feel much more vulnerable writing to people I don’t know out in cyber space.  Where some people may feel safer doing it this way, faceless to some extent, I don’t.  My fear of judgement comes up and reminds me that I’m still working on that particular issue.  I’ve written a bit about me having depression in the ‘My Story’ section of my website.   And that was quite difficult for me to write about then and took the longest of all the sections for me to finish.  Divine Spirit helped me with that just as they are helping me with this one today.

Writing Because I’m Guided to Do So

For some reason Spirit is guiding me at this time to write more about it.  Maybe because it’s the holiday season which is often very difficult for many people who suffer from depression, maybe because it’s been a particularly difficult week for me needing to cry very badly and not being able to until today when it all came pouring out rather quickly.  And then I suddenly felt the need to write about it for the first time, and then cry some more.  Divine Source always has a plan and I have found, even though I am quite rebellious, it’s best to simply trust and have faith that there is a divine reason and just go with it.  So here goes, me going with the flow once again, despite my fears and possible consequences, writing about my personal history of depression and how to heal yourself with the help of Reiki.

Lavender is also an herb used to calm people's moods.
Lavender is  used in the 21st century mostly for its sedative qualities.  It calms the entire nervous system, relaxes the muscles helps with headaches and muscle cramps.

A Bit O History

Passion Flower is a flower known to help alleviate depression symptoms.
Passion Flower is known to help alleviate depression and anxiety symptoms and helps to calm the body.

I’ve ‘suffered’ through depression most of my life although it wasn’t recognized until I was an adult.   I’m the kind of person that always tries to put on a happy face in public or I don’t go out.  So rarely do people really know what is going on with me, unless they pointedly ask.  This is common I have found with a lot of people with depression, the “suffer in silence” routine.  We get very good at acting when we don’t believe ourselves to be actors at all.  It’s important to know this about people with depression in case you know someone, love someone who has it.  I’m not going to go into why we do this right now, this blog isn’t about that.  But, it is sometimes hard to tell when people you love are suffering when they don’t feel safe to discuss it.  I’m grateful that I have so many people I do feel safe with whom I can talk with.  Those friends and my husband and kids have literally gotten me thorough this alive and will continue to because they not only love me, they understand me and take the time to do that.  They take the time, a whole lot of time to listen, not give advice, not judge, just listen and love me.  They are amazing and I’m so incredibly grateful for them.

Stigma of Depression

Lemon Verbena with a light pink flower has been one of my favorites since the Little House on the Prairie shows
The cool and refreshing fragrance of lemon verbena increases energy, relieves fatigue and overcomes feelings of apathy, disinterest and listlessness.  These characteristics make Lemon Verbena the ideal choice for use on dull, overcast days at the office or hot, humid days in mid-summer and any other time when the weather and other conditions discourage productivity.

I’d like to get something straight.  Something that medical doctors will not talk about because most of them do not know or acknowledge.  Depression is NOT just a mental or emotional disease.  There should be no stigma to it.  It is not just someone who is way too sensitive and can’t control themselves emotionally.  Depression exists on all levels of the body, emotional yes, mental yes, but it is also a disease of spirit, therefore it also exists on the spiritual AND the physical level too.  Pretty much like any other disease someone could have, like for instance diabetes or heart disease.  They are all disease of the spirit first and foremost, then they work their way into our other spiritual body levels from there.  All disease works this way so there is no reason to judge (there’s that word again) anyone who has disease of any kind because we are all struggling with something.   We are the same in that we are all spiritual beings in human form working hard at learning difficult lessons of the spirit.  Quite often, disease is a very fast way for us to learn these lessons.  That is it’s purpose.  (Plus, sometimes it helps burn off old karma.  But that’s another blog.)

Medical Doctors, Don’t Get Me Started

Yellow hibiscus
Yellow hibiscus aids in decreased depression and mood swings. The minerals and vitamins in hibiscus tea can contribute to a more positive frame of mind and calming of the nervous system.

I saw many, many different medical experts who could not figure me out.  One after another they would pass me around trying to figure out why I wouldn’t respond to the drugs they were peddling.  Why they couldn’t FIX me.  They tried me on each and every depression med they had including bipolar medications. “Hey I didn’t respond to the depression meds,  I must be bipolar right?”  I was their guinea pig and I didn’t, at the time, know any better.  ALL of the medications gave me such severe side effects that I couldn’t safely take them.  My body was simply too sensitive for any man-made medications, but I didn’t know that at the time.  Plus, their drugs were only treating one symptom, , one level of my body, not getting close to treating the cause.  Truly no one seemed at all worried about finding the cause.  Those doctors gave up on me. I didn’t fit in their box. They said I was permanently disabled and could not work or be of use to society, and I believed them and sometimes still do.  Some days, on days like today, I feel like they were right.  But, they aren’t.  I know that deep down.  And, it’s up to me (and my soul mate friends and family) to remind me of that, over and over again until my subconscious mind believes it one day.

A Gift

Those doctors giving up on me was the best thing that ever happened to me.   Although at the time I felt totally left alone on the edge of a cliff.  When I felt I had no other options, no other alternatives at all, I was then able to open up to concepts I had never considered.  This is when most clients come to me as a Reiki practitioner too, when nothing else has worked and they feel they are out of possibilities.  Suddenly healing with hands isn’t so crazy any more.  Right?  I’m chuckling here because I was no different.  It is part of the process that we must go through in order to open our “box”, our mind to new possibilities, new beliefs.  Through the process I found alternative medicine.  Alternative doctors who listened and were willing to experiment and try new things with me.  And I found Reiki.

Sensitivities Can Be Blessings in Disguise

Orange roses
The rose has an uplifting restoring, and calming effect on the nervous system, lifts depression, dispels mental and physical fatigue, and soothes irritability, grief, and anger; the essential oil can also be used for depression, especially that caused by lack of love or intimacy in one’s life.

In my case, my body is still so challenging that it takes a pretty large team of alternative practitioners to work with me on a monthly basis to keep me balanced and functioning.  I sometimes forget that this way of life is not normal for some because I’ve been doing it for so long.  But for me listening to and working with my body on a daily, sometimes hourly basis is normal and a must.  Yes, part of my sensitivities also give me my wonderful gifts of intuitive ability, compassion and understand, and my ability to run a whole lot of Reiki energy to heal others.

Hang in There We Are Almost There……….

Reiki for Depression

I have no studies to show you to prove what I’m going to say but only my own personal experience.  These are my opinions from what I’ve learned though my years of working with Reiki for my depression.

When I first started seeing natural doctors, Naturopaths, they did all sorts of tests on me too, just like the medical doctors.  I had one tell me that my serotonin levels were non-existent.  She was amazed I was functioning at all, and told me this.  I could see the shock on her face that I was sitting in front of her and her knowing that I had an active, a mom, a healer and rewarding life much of the time.  She came right out and said that she was literally shocked that I wasn’t in an insane asylum with levels so low.  “Do they still have those?  Damn I thought, seriously?!”  At the time I didn’t consider myself very functioning, although I was a full-time mom at this point with two very young little boys and doing my best.  (I have very high expectations) She asked what I did to keep myself so healthy considering what I was dealing with physically.  I told her besides my overtly healthy diet, that I also did a lot of meditation and Reiki.  She told me to keep it up and put me on some natural neurotransmitters to help support my brain function.  They help so much.

Puzzle Pieces to Healing Depression

Red valerian
Valerian, or Valeriana officinalis, is a plant root that is either ground into a powder or pressed into a liquid and used to treat depression naturally.  Valerian has been used to treat symptoms of depression as well as minor aches and pains, mild tremors, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, nervous asthma, hysteria, excitability and even phobias.  As always it is imperative to consult with a licensed health professional before embarking on any herbal regimen.  I truly believe this and do it myself.

Since then my naturopaths have pieced together different puzzle pieces that contribute to the physical portion of the depression.  I tell you here only in case it helps someone out there to look at their depression puzzle pieces.  Maybe you have a similar one to me that no doctor has looked at yet.  Also, I tell you simply so you know without a doubt that I have been through this and can help you though the process as well.  Here is a great book on the subject, “feeling fat, fuzzy, or frazzled?” by Richard Shames, M.D. and Karilee Shames, Ph.D., R.N. also authors of “Thyroid Power.”

The Physical Run Down

I have severe hormone imbalances that I’ve had all my life, not at all connected to menopause, a thyroid disease called Hashimoto’s where your body basically attacks itself and of course my body produces very little if any of its own serotonin and other neurotransmitters.  Oh yeah, lets not forget the adrenal fatigue from the stress of it all.  That is a simplistic look at it.  There’s more but that’s the basic gist.  My body is in a constant state of change, like anyones, but mine seems to be much more sensitive and can get out of balance at the slightest tilt.  I feel like I’m standing on a board, on top of a ball and I have to stay balanced there like that every day juggling kids, pets, husband, work/hobby, public school, crazy diet, housework, neighbors and so much, so much more.

An excellent book about healing these symptoms naturally. Hormone, thyroid and neurotransmitter imbalances.
An excellent book about healing these symptoms naturally. Hormone, thyroid and neurotransmitter imbalances.

How does Reiki help these?  How can Reiki help your depression or that of someone you love?  Stay with me a bit longer, we are getting to that most important of answers.

HOW Can Reiki Help Depression?

Reiki for me has helped me in every way it can.  Reiki heals on all levels, all at once; spiritual, emotional, mental and physical.  Reiki is Divinely Guided Life Force Energy so it has intelligence and knows where it needs to go to help you the most AND at a pace you can handle.  It never works on anything you aren’t ready to work on.

Spiritual

On the spiritual level Reiki is working on my past lives, healing those that may have created the karma that causes me to have depression in this life.  Reiki has also helped me to heal my issues that I had with God and Jesus and other religious figures that have been contributing to my fears in this life.  One at a time, a little at a time, Reiki helps dissolve the fears, the karma that I brought with me into this life in order to learn from it.  This is very powerful and deep healing work that gets to the SOURCE and takes time.  Stick with it.  Never give up.

Physical

On the physical levels Reiki lowers my blood pressure, calms me down and supports my body in any way that it may need it.  It can’t make serotonin for me but it helps my body to function better without it or function better so that my body can make serotonin for itself.  This I truly believe.  I have no proof, it’s just something I feel happening.  If my body is too stressed in other areas it won’t have the energy to finish all the building blocks in my brain that I need.  Reiki also helps my body to handle the sensitivities that my physical body has, allergies to new things like electromagnetic energy.  Reiki also helps me to cleanse and detoxify my quite often toxic system, letting go of what doesn’t serve me.  Letting go for some people is harder than others.  The people who have a hard time letting go tend to be more stressed, more over weight and more likely to get disease sooner.  Reiki helps to keep your physical body in balance so these are less likely to happen.

Mental

On the mental level Reiki helps me to reframe the old recordings that are playing in my head that contribute to the depression, such as, “I’m not worthy of being healthy or a healer” or “It’s safer if I’m sick”, “It’s not safe to let go of stuff” or “I’m not lovable.”  There are thousands of scripts in our head that we either learn from childhood or even bring with us from other life times until we learn what we need to learn from them and change them.  Reiki can help us first to identify them and second to change them into healthier scripts.

Emotional

You just know that puppies are good for people with depression. When I was going through my first serious depression I got two puppies and they were my best friends and got me though many very difficult times. Get a pet and allow it to love you the way you deserve to be loved.
You just know that puppies are good for people with depression. When I was going through my first serious depression I got two puppies and they were my best friends and got me though many very difficult times. Get a pet and allow it to love you the way you deserve to be loved.

On this level Reiki has helped me to feel calmer when I need it.  Reiki helps me to feel more balanced at times like today when I needed to balance out the emotions that were being created inside of me by the physical imbalance.  Reiki supports you in whatever way you need to get that balance back in your bodies.  Today I needed to cry, a lot, to get the emotions and chemicals out of my physical body.  I also needed to write about it, to share it or not.  I needed to get it out into words so Reiki is helping me to do that as well.  Reiki has become such an integral part of my life that it’s pretty much automatic for me to invite in the Reiki energy to help me when I’m upset, just like praying is for religious people.  This is my way of talking to my Divine and inviting the healing energy in to help me.  And it comes in exactly the way I need it most.  It comes and heals me.  And then, I say Thank You God!  Thank you Reiki!

“Patience is a Virtue, but darn does it have to take so long!”

Be patient.  Reiki helps me with this a great deal because patience does not come easy to me.  The healing process for many is a journey of discovery and learning.  A journey can take a long time.  Enjoy life as much as you can while you are going through the healing process.  Live your life as much as you can in between the difficult days.  If I waited until I was completely healed of depression before becoming a ‘healer’ I’d never be a healer.  You do your best, every day.  Do your meditation and Reiki every day and live your life in between and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up searching for your puzzle pieces to health and wellbeing. And when you need a friend to talk to, be your own best friend, call a friend who will listen or call a Reiki healer like me and let us help you.  You know I will understand.  I’ve been though much the same and can relate and be compassionate.  But, I can also see your beautiful and healthy soul and help you to know how to get to that place.

This life is a gift no matter what.  Never give up.

Love and Light to you all,

Josslyn

August 2012 – Messages from my Guides

Messages from my guides

By Josslyn Streett of Rain Shadow Reiki

While talking and doing a reading with a dear friend and client yesterday some information came though that I felt would be helpful to many of us who have been really feeling the pressure of the energy coming down on us the last few months.  Many of my clients, students and even friends have been commenting to me that they are crying a lot, down, depressed, unmotivated and don’t really know why.

I’ve addressed this before in blogs and Facebook posts but got new information this week.  In short, we are cleansing a lot of old lifetimes of energy.  All in a very short period of time.  Ascension is happening right now, and we must let go of a lot of the old in order to make room for the new.  THE CRUNCH as it feels to many of us.  The Universal Energy is helping us with this process and we can cry, talk to friends, meditate, do Reiki on ourselves, bathe ourselves in Love and Light and all the spiritual rituals we have learned to help us though.

Spend more time with pets, giving and receiving love.

However, the message I got yesterday was loud and clear, JOY!!  DO something every day that brings you joy.  Every time you feel down or want to cry, think of something you can do right then that will bring you joy.  Set a new standard for your daily life with HAPPINESS!  This is something special, something just for you.  This is about no one but YOU and YOUR JOY!

An Example

Singing in the shower is a GREAT way to start the day. Singing happy songs raises your vibration, confidence and helps to keep the healthy boundaries strong all around you.

I finished a reading last week and was driving home from the clients’ house.  All of a sudden I felt the extreme need to sing gospel.  I love gospel music but only know the words of a few songs, so I started singing as loud as I could.  It did not sound so great, but that was not the point at all.  It was a huge release.  I sang the songs I knew, rewrote the words, wrote new songs and just kept singing them.  After about forty minutes of this I felt much better and was almost home.  It was just for me and the release I needed at that moment.  My love of the music and creating new words filled me with Love and Light and JOY!  Because I listened to my guides and sang I was able to release energy that otherwise may have stayed and festered if I hadn’t listened to my guidance.  IT IS TIME TO LISTEN AND TAKE ACTION ON WHAT YOUR GUIDES AND YOUR HIGER SELF ARE TELLING YOU!!

What Did You Enjoy as a Child?

Do something you haven’t done in a long time and don’t remember why you stopped doing it.  I’ve started getting visions recently of things I used to do as a kid and enjoyed very much, like photography and architecture.  My guides want me to do those things NOW and find JOY once again.

Take a class in something you have been interested in like Reiki, crystals and stones healing, music lessons, knitting, ANYTHING YOU FEEL DRAWN TO!

Bringing in more joy daily will allow us to heal and move on from the old emotions, old pain and old past life energy that we no longer need.  We need to replace them with new action, new joy and new memories.  WHAT IS JOYFUL TO YOU??  Singing, music, dancing, games, cuddling with pets or kids, parties, meditation, doing Reiki on yourself or others, walks on the beach, time in your garden, think of joyful activities for YOU and YOU alone.

THIS IS THE TIME TO REMEMBER WHAT BRINGS YOU JOY

Go to the beach with friends, have a bon fire, sing or dance in the moonlight.

I’m going to start a photography class again and begin drawing up plans for a renovation that we can’t afford yet but want to manifest soon.  As a kid I used to draw up plans for houses and thought of becoming an architect.  I spent hours and hours drawing up homes just for fun.  I’m going to do this now to help us manifest this addition to our home sooner than we would expect.  (I am excellent at manifesting!)

WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW THAT WILL BRING YOU JOY?  Share here if you feel safe to.  There are no wrong answers to this one.

In Love and Light,
