This is how Reiki works too! One healing at a time. Light one light at a time. Patience little one, we are almost there!

I was driving the other day to my therapist for a session. I go to a great MFCC who uses EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and energy medicine from Donna Eden’s book, combined in something called Energy Psychology. I very much want to learn this technique. It works wonders. I did traditional talk therapy for years with little or no progress. I’ve made more progress in the last two years with energy therapies combined than in 18 years of traditional therapies.

AGGHHH Don’t Go–
Anyway, getting off of THAT soap box, I was driving to see my therapist. Before I even left home I started having some anxiety in my body and racing thoughts in my mind. For the first time, I didn’t want to go. I’m usually eager to go and work on my inner thoughts and self but not this time. The thought of calling and canceling went through my mind more than once. “But I can’t,” I thought, “I’ll be charged for the session anyway.” (stress!) I kept driving.
The Right Questions –
Finally I asked myself the right question, “why am I feeling this way?” The answer was pretty easy, we’ve been working on some pretty deep stuff, long-term stuff, and today was the big daddy of getting rid of THE big defense mechanism that I’d used to protect myself most of my life. Part of me really wanted to get rid of this defense mechanism once and for all and PART of me didn’t. I knew right there and then I had to go. I tell all my clients, “when you don’t want to come to me is when you need to come the most.” It’s no different for me. I went and it was GREAT! We knocked it out of the ballpark. And, by the time I left I felt wonderful, lighter, less encumbered with past waste.

Sabotage –
So, why does our mind do this to us? Why do we constantly sabotage ourselves when things are finally going well?
You know sabotage, it’s when you are doing something that is good for you, like, lets say, finally going to the gym. Then once you are going and doing great, you stop going or even injure yourself so you no longer have to go. The truth is, that your mind doesn’t think of the good thing (exercise) as good. Your mind thinks of it as bad. It doesn’t have to make sense, in fact, most of the time, common sense has nothing to do with the belief systems our mind has created. Somehow through life, your mind decided that exercise is bad or unhealthy and you will not do it. So, every time you try to add an exercise routine to your life, your mind somehow sabotages it. The belief system must be changed BEFORE you will be successful at adding exercise to your life. This is just one example, there are many. If exercise is not your issue, I’m sure if you sit and think for a minute you can come up with at least ONE way that your mind sabotages you in a positive goal that you have. If you can’t come up with one, I can help.
Why? Ohhhh, the pain of it all!
Why does out mind do this to us? Simple, our minds are set up to help us succeed! Yes, succeed! Our mind is going to help us create situations and behaviors thorough out life that will reinforce our beliefs, no matter what, even if our beliefs are the ones that are hurting us. The mind will not distinguish between good and bad thoughts. Just like the body does not distinguish between good and bad stress, stress is stress, thoughts are thoughts. Many times, in the past, there was a good reason for the behavior to be created but it no longer serves you as an adult.

Good Example –
For instance, lets say a child is raised in an verbally abusive home. The child finds out that when they are sick, the parent leaves them alone more and even can be a bit compassionate to them during that time. This situation reinforces the child to be sick often and to think of in their mind that being sick actually protects them in life. They have no idea consciously they are doing this or that this thought has been created and will now stay as one of their lifelong beliefs. But, the thought process can actually cause illness in the body to reinforce the child’s desire to be safe. Get it? Overall this is not a healthy belief pattern to have but it worked for the child when they needed it when they were young. But, how’s that working now that they are an adult with a job and a family? Not so good.

Help is Here!! Ta Dah!
Reiki works on all four levels; mental, emotional, spiritual and physical.

None of us make sense –
We all do this! Some more than others. But, overall, all of our minds do this. We struggle for years trying to figure out why we don’t lose weight, why we are always sick, why we cant find love. When we need to be focusing on the thoughts that are causing the actions. It is not hopeless. There are many great therapies out there that help with these specific issues. We cannot heal ourselves until we heal our beliefs. Reiki is just one way to help you heal your beliefs. I also use the modalities of; hypnotherapy, IEH®, Karuna Reiki® and Touch for Health to help my clients heal these belief patterns. It still takes time, it took time to make them. But, it works, you feel the progress every time you leave a session. And as long as you keep working at it, you will heal your belief patterns, your life and ultimately the sabotage.
Call me if you’d like to start this amazing journey with my help. I’d love to be by your side as you rediscover the real you and the real life you could be living!

Having two boys can sometimes be difficult for a peaceful mom like me who is doing her best to spread Love and Light around the world. My boys are very active and very much into playing war, ninja, and all games about fighting and pretend killing even though I never encouraged it at all. I see it as roll-playing that is important for them to play out otherwise they’d suppress those feelings. More on that in another blog. However, sometimes this peaceable mom just can’t take it.

slug bug
When the boys picked up on the “Slug Bug” game a while back, it got to be too much for me to take. The slugging each other, the yelling that came with it, the wining and fighting, all in a small space, nope, I couldn’t take it and stay in my loving space at the same time. So, I quickly put a stop to the slug bug game and created a new one. I’ve since found, not surprising, that other people play “my” version too. How intuitive of them.
PLAY HUG BUG
We now play “Hug Bug” and they actually DO IT! We drive along and each call out the bug and color of the bug we see. We keep track, most of the time it’s an estimate, and when we get out of the car or when we remember they “owe” me hugs. Again, THEY DO IT! Amazingly, they like it. We all get more hugs, no more fighting or slugging about VW’s in the back of the car and we all spread a little more love around. It’s been slightly more peaceful in my car ever since. Give it a try if you have little active ones in your back seat.
Clearing with Kyanite
This is the first blog I’ve written about gemstones. I’ll be writing about using stones and crystals to heal yourself and others. I’ve decided to start with gemstones that work well for all seven chakras and the one dearest to my heart, Kyanite. Kyanite comes mainly from Brazil but I also have some that came from Africa. The most common color I’ve seen is the blue-white but it also comes in pink, green, yellow, gray, orange and black. I currently use blue, green, orange and black. The appearance of kyanite is a striated, bladed crystal that can at times be transparent or opaque and pearlized. To me it looks like a mica formation and in raw form is just as delicate as a mica type formation.

It’s amazing to me when I talk to people about kyanite, no one seems to know what it is. Even store owners do not always know what they have when they have a piece of kyanite up for sale. I was in a toy store on Whidby Island shopping with my family and they had a rocks and gems section for kids. I, of course, headed right for it. I found a nice sized piece of kyanite sitting there with medium-sized chunks of rose quartz and sodalite and some other more commonly found rocks. I got a $30 piece of kyanite for $11 because they had no idea what a great stone they had there. Well, one conversation with me about stones and you will know what kyanite is and how to use it. My clients know how passionate I am about this particular gem of the earth.
As a healer, kyanite is one of the “must have” stones in my opinion. Kyanite doesn’t need clearing or cleansing like other stones. But, I like to clean and clear it now and again to show my kyanite love and appreciation and to infuse intention with the energy I work with it in. Over time, stones pick up energies from our bodies, our surroundings, our computers, electromagnetic energy, etc. They can get clogged and need to be cleaned. If they do not get cleared regularly they will stop being able to heal because they get so trapped in the murky energy, similar to a city covered in smog. They are doing their job by clearing and healing our energies, we need to do our job and keep them clean. (I’ll go into how to clean them, other than with kyanite, in another blog.) It does not accumulate or retain any negative energy.
If you think like a healer, then you can think of all sorts of ways to use this stone. But, I’ll help you out a bit here:

Jewelry – I have kyanite placed by my jewelry to help keep my rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces all clean of energy so when I go to wear them again, they are fresh of all energies they may have picked up from me the last time I wore them. If, for instance, I had a bad day the last time I wore a fluorite necklace, it may retain that energy for me by clearing it away from my energy field and keeping it in its own energy field. Kyanite is one of the easiest ways to clear the energy fields of all stones. It’s safe for all stones. Just place the jewelry or stone near the kyanite while you sleep and wake up to wear it fresh and ready to help you another day.
Clearing jewelry you wear – I wear gemstones for healing all the time. I hang them from a long chain that no one else sees but they are doing their job on my body. I keep a kyanite hanging with them on the chain at all times so they are continually being cleared and healing my energies at their maximum ability.
Clearing a room – Place a large piece of kyanite in the middle of a room, under a table or in a safe place where it won’t be knocked around. A big enough piece of kyanite can keep a small to medium room clear of lower energies. I keep a large piece of kyanite under my Reiki table at all times to help draw energy from my client as they are releasing it. The Reiki helps with this as well, but I like to have at least three ways of cleansing, that’s just me: one of spiritual energy, one of the earth and another one I chose, such as music or herbs.
Clearing a body – I use my intuition in placing stones on a body, but with kyanite, I make sure I have at least seven good size pieces to place around my clients body and sometimes in their hands if it feels right. This, like the kyanite under the table (In case you can’t afford a huge piece which can be rather pricy) will attract the energies leaving the client, cleanse them for you and dissipate them to the higher vibrations. I do other cleansing at the end of a session but this is one of the ways I use to help in that process.
Clearing other stones – I have other pieces of kyanite that I place near stones in my home or near the stones that I am done with after a healing until I can incense them or Reiki them. I just move the pieces of kyanite around from time to time to sit near the stones I want cleared.

Clearing electromagnetic energy – When placing stones near ones computer to help clear away the electromagnetic smog, (A subtle but detectable electromagnetic field that can have an adverse effect on sensitive people. The smog is given off by electrical power lines and items such as computers, cell phones and TV’s.) it is quite simple to then place a kyanite with it to help cleanse the smog off of the other stone. I gave my husband a nice sized smokey quartz and a medium piece of kyanite to put by his computer at work since he’s on it all day. He’s not particularly sensitive like I am, but it can’t hurt, they look nice and they bring a bit of the earth inside to the office.
Healing – I’ll go into the healing properties of kyanite in part 2 because they are plentiful.
Can YOU think of something in your home you could cleanse with kyanite? Comment if you can think of something to use kyanite on.
Thank you to Jade Elizabeth, Melody’s “Love is in the Earth,” and Judy Hall’s “The Crystal Bible.”
Do you know you can Reiki dead batteries to get longer life? I have done this on multiple occasions with camera and video camera batteries.
Once my camera batteries ran out right when my son was about to receive his end of the season soccer trophy. While the game was finishing up, I ran Reiki with the power symbol on the battery for about 5 minutes. With just that five-minute Reiki session I was able to take photos of the whole team receiving their trophies! Try it, it’s a great way to amaze non believers and kids love it. This is the one thing my kids always remember, when mom charged their batteries!

How:
Make sure the batteries are completely out. Hold the batteries in your hands and start the Reiki. Use the intention of giving it power while running the Reiki or if you are a level II Reiki use (CKR) the power symbol to charge the batteries. Use your intuition as to when they are done charging and give them a try! I haven’t tried this with a car battery yet.
Anyone tried that?
DO YOU FEEL LIKE 2012 IS A HUGE, FAST MOVING, SOMETIMES VERY SCARY ROLLER COASTER RIDE?

then read on…..because TODAY, March 18th thru the 24th we are on the really high ramp of the roller coaster getting ready to plunge to the earth as Mercury conjunct with Uranus, watch out………………….
I don’t do astrology, have no idea how, but I do enjoy reading a good astrology report now and again. My friend Ellen turned me onto Tom Lescher’s Facebook page and he does videos on You Tube that are great too. So far he’s cool and pretty right on for how I’ve been feeling lately. I always go with my intuition and don’t always know what’s going on with the planets to back up my feelings until I read a report like this one on Tom’s Facebook page by Palona Somrak.
I’ve been talking to a lot of my clients lately about the feeling of being on a roller coaster. The energy this year, 2012, is fast and furious. We are being tested over and over again. We are feeling the energy push down upon us, putting pressure on us, making life more difficult and/or more busy than usual. Why is it doing this you ask? So we can LEARN! It’s all good!

The roller coaster I get from one of my favorite movies with Steve Martin, “Parenthood”. Grandma in the movie says about a roller coaster ride to Steve Martin’s character, “You know, it was just so interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened, so scared, so sick, so excited, and so thrilled all together! Some didn’t like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it.”
Back then, I personally didn’t like being on roller coasters that much. I was more like the Steve Martin character. But, lately, with my trust and faith in the Divine, and some life experience, I like it and am grateful for it. I can now see it for what it is, as I’m moving up and down those waves of terror. While on the roller coaster we may get sick to our stomachs, we may throw up our hands and scream with joy for the wild ride or we may be apathetic and ignore it all. It’s up to us. It really is. We are in a time of major change. We can either fight the change, try to ignore it and pretend it isn’t going on and make things harder on ourselves and those around us or we can throw our hands up, surrender to the change and scream with joy, or fright. Either way, the surrender is what’s important.

How do we do this you may ask?
Good question. All I can tell you is how I do this and hopefully it will help you. When a challenge comes up that makes you angry, frustrated, stressed or even furious, STOP YOURSELF.

Our Own Personal Play –
If you do not personally believe in reincarnation you can think of past life healing as a kind of dream, a story, or a play that is similar to what you are going through now in your life but with different characters acting it out for you. That way the play you are experiencing is not so “close” to you and therefore, not so emotional either. It aids the client in being able to rise above their personal situation and see it from a more universal perspective. (Read examples of some of Joss’ remarkable healings on her “Past Life Healings Notes” page.) WARNING: Much of the time, the past life Josslyn is experiencing and retelling to the client is so real and makes so much sense to the client, they literally have an A-Ha moment. Clients often times end up considering the idea of reincarnation themselves. An experience that makes you really THINK about something totally new, that’s a worthwhile experience!
Here is another “story” from Joss’ Past Life Healing Notes:
Irish Sailor’s wife and Russian Babushka
Before I could even get into a trance to get started with the healing on Noel, I started getting a heaviness and tightness in my heart area and almost blacked out. I felt very dizzy. I had to kneel down before I passed out. I told her exactly what I was experiencing and feeling. It felt like a squeezing of my heart to the point of pain, extreme tightness. She surprisingly exclaimed that it was exactly what it felt like for her. She totally resonated with the feeling I was having. I was glad because otherwise I was going to have to cancel the healing and go to the hospital. But, when she said she understood this I knew it was her I was tapping in to. I kneeled to do my prayer of intention and grounded myself and asked Divine for help moving the feelings out and I felt chills start at my legs and go up my body until it was suddenly gone. I knew Divine had helped me and I felt better. It was the strongest empathic experience I have ever had. But it helped me to really understand to the extent in which the pain in her heart was causing her.
I stood up and started working on her. At once a life came regarding this. At that point she told me how she is in a long distance relationship and it’s really hard on her. Her boyfriend is working and living in CA.
Life 1 – She was a young mother with five kids, one infant. Most were girls, one or two boys. She was only 25 or 26 years old. Her husband was a sailor. He was gone a lot. He started out in another country, Turkey, as a military sailor. He was a bit of a rebel and jumped ship and got on an Irish ship. He was smart and well liked and worked his way up honestly to a position of respect below the captain within a few years time, rather quickly. He loved the sea and the freedom of being at sea. She respected him enough to not want to take that away from him but it hurt her a lot. She held most of it in, in her heart. Her heart looked like very tight like wound up muscles. She only let it out to God now and then when she was alone and it got to be too much for her. Other wise she held all the pain in. I saw him coming home to his family and the coming home was harder on her than the leaving. Noel agreed with all of this and was stunned by how accurate a portrayal of her boyfriend this life portrayed. Herself as well. She was taught growing up not to show her feelings, not to cry or express but to hold it in. When he was out to sea (back in Ireland) she had a good strong support system of friends and family to keep her company and happy. She was a strong women to do this time after time. She and her family went to the woods and the fields and gathered wild flowers and tied them into bouquets and sold them in the market place, not for much but a little extra helped. I felt her husband was good, loyal and respectful, not a sailor who had a woman in every port at all. I felt a strong connection between them but they need to learn a way to come together in this life without compromising her or his passion. She cannot manipulate this man at all, he’d run from that fast. She must give him his space and he will come to her. She totally agreed with this assessment.
Life 2– She was a biological grandmother but acted as mother to him, her boyfriend again. The scene I saw most was them cuddling together by the fire in a rocker. He died of fever at age 10 in her arms. She also held her grief and sadness in her heart and didn’t let others see. She could not read or write but she could sing her folk songs and even wrote new ones herself and expressed herself that way. She was called a babushka and wore a red scarf on her head. She was not old, maybe in her 40’s to 50’s for a grandma but she was short and squat and heavy and older looking than that. She had such a great love for this boy and he for her. (Much release from her heart chakra along the way while I’m viewing these lives for her.) She put love, heart and soul into her cooking and her singing. Again she had the pattern of not showing her feelings, not FEELING her feelings and hiding them in her heart chakra. After much releasing her heart chakra felt much lighter. She even said it felt lighter which is the one word I get the most after big releases like this one.
Noel said the healing and the experience was one of the biggest of her whole life.
Since the healing she has been able to work with feeling her feelings, crying, and releasing her emotions rather than bottling them up in her heart. When we do this year after year, life after life, we cause dis-ease in our hearts. Reiki can help you to learn to let it go, release it for good!
Do you have to believe in past lives for past life healing to work?
No, not all of my clients believe in reincarnation. However, if you can open your mind a bit more to believe that the past life stories that Josslyn receives could be a metaphor, symbolic or your mind during a free association of both, to help you deal with what is going on in a life right NOW that may be too painful to deal in any other way, then it makes the experience of past life healing more fun. But, what truly matters is that healing takes place, and it does! Whether you believe or not, healing takes place.
Here is the newest addition to my Past Life Healing Notes section of my website. For more healings to read about go to that section. There are many great ‘stories’ there.
Hope came in for a session experiencing acute back pain. She said she hadn’t had back pain most of her life until about a year and a half ago when her and her boyfriend Craig started dating. I did a healing on Hope for an hour and a half. Here is what I got.
I placed my hands all over her her back. She saw visions as I saw them, some the same and some different. Hope has experience in meditation and practicing visualizations so I wasn’t surprised that she was getting visions too. Here is what we both got.
I saw many lives where she was deformed, I saw hump back lives, scoliosis lives, limping lives, but the one that stuck out the most was the elephant man life. “The Elephant Man” is a movie that came out in 1980. I remember it had a very strong effect on me because the man was treated so inhumanely. Being as sensitive as I am, that deeply affected me as many were by the movies’ content. Little did I know it would come up so many years later to help me relate to this client’s past life.

The move “The Elephant Man” kept showing up in my head so I told her I believe she had had that disease. At first I saw her as a man with this disease where the head is oversized. He was living in a basement type place. It felt damp and dark and cold and not healthy at all.
As I looked deeper in the life I saw a mother and father having a baby with all the hopes and dreams of a young family having a baby for the first time. The baby came out deformed. The mother rejected him completely. She did not have the strength that was needed to love and accept him. She was vain and cold and wanted a perfect baby. The father rejected the baby as well but had some guilt about doing it.
The mother and father allowed the housekeeper to raise the baby, named Charles, in the kitchen. The housekeeper, Nellie, mothered the boy best she could and with love. She gave him chores to do as he got older so he could feel useful and helpful to her. He somehow knew the other couple in the house were his parents but accepted the love that was available to him. He was kept out of sight as much as possible but the doctor who came to see him was not a kind man and he gossiped about the deformed boy. People in the town knew and it got back to Charles and made him ashamed of his body and himself. He was actually a very kind and gentle boy with a great deal of inner strength to go on with life the way he did. He was able to revel in the little love he did have. But at the same time he knew he was different and felt being that his body was deformed, was something to be debased, unloved and rejected by others and by himself.
At age 11 the mother and father sent him away to live at a “school.” Nellie the housekeeper was very upset by this and didn’t understand why the boy had to go. She didn’t live long after that, a few years. Died before mid 50’s truly from sadness from not being able to protect Charles.
While at the “school” he was treated even worse. The people who ran the school only wanted him if he could work. He was basically a slave to them and they got paid by his parents to keep him there too. For his parents it kept him out of sight, out of mind. Yet, if people in town asked about Charles, his parents could say proudly, “He’s at a special school.” He never went home to visit. He cleaned the stalls, swept, worked on the tractor, anything and everything he was able to do for them.

The one shining light in his life was the owners little girl. She was a bright light from God and loved him as a brother despite his deformity. She snuck out to see him in the barn whenever she could just to talk. They were friends. Their little visits together kept him going, gave him hope that things would get better.
Things didn’t get any better in that life. Charles died at age 18 at that “school”. I saw that Nellie was there in Heaven to receive him.
We learn from the same soul mates over and over again –
Charles’ father in that life is Hope’s bofriend in this life, Craig. Her mother in that life is her sister in this life. The little girl of love and light was Craig’s son and Nellie was Hope’s aunt. All the personalities and issues Hope has with the people in the past life story match up to their personalities now, she confirmed.

When she got up off of my table, she said her back was straight again. She said before we started it felt twisted and curved. The pain was gone. She was able to walk and sit just like normal with no pain.
And, she said she connected with all the information that we had gotten. She had seen the hunchback and deformed lives too. She felt from things Craig has said to her lately that he’d been rejecting her and pushing her aside, just like he did when he was father to Charles. They are playing it all out again in this life, in a smaller way, until they learn what they need to learn from it. She felt she had learned a lot and was ready to move to the next level of talking to her boyfriend about it and learning to love her body as Divine Source made her.
In the last post, Reiki Every Day Part 1, I focused on how to play with the Reiki energy in order to help make your home life more spiritual and inviting to yourself as well as to others.
But, if we are really going to make Reiki a part of our every day lives, it is equally important to know how to incorporate Reiki energy into our work lives as well. One of the biggest questions I get from new Reiki students is “How can I use this to be more successful at work?” Divine wants us to be successful in all ways, spiritually, financially, health wise and in our relationships.

If you have read or watched “The Secret” then you know a little about manifesting this in your life. As much as I LOVED “The Secret” when it came out, I was always wondering afterward, “But, HOW do I actually DO that?” With Reiki I figured out the HOW and have been able to DO it in my life, every day! I pray these tips in this blog write-up will help many of you too. But to really master it, I would first recommend taking a Reiki I class and then practice, practice and more practice.
As before, with each idea I’ll give the how with intention (Reiki I) and then I’ll give the corresponding symbol I would use. Feel free to play around with using other Reiki symbols as well. Have fun yourself and play with YOUR ideas. Don’t try to do ALL the idea, pick the most important 1 or 2 ideas and work with those to get the best results and stick with it. If you don’t do them, they won’t work.

Reiki Every Day at Work
Here are some examples of specific careers and how they could play with Reiki to make their days more successful.
Teacher– Cleanse and energize the classroom. Bless each student silently and to yourself, with Reiki as they enter the class.
Builder– Place Reiki in the walls, ceilings and entire structure as you build.

Caterer– Place Reiki in all food and drink as it’s made. This can be done with your eyes or fingers or hands as you prepare the food.
Receptionist– Think Reiki blessings with each phone call answered, clear the energy in the office, bless all messages that come through you.
Real Estate Agent– Cleanse each and every property you are showing, home or business. You will sell or rent more, believe me. Plus, after the people move into the house, they will be happier or more successful for businesses and you will get even more business from referrals.
Are you getting the idea? If you have specific questions for me about how to play with Reiki in your specific job, please comment or email me and I’ll be happy to help.
If you can come up with great ways to improve YOUR OWN job and be more successful please let us know by commenting on this blog. I would LOVE to hear your ideas.
In Love and Light, Joss
My eight year old, Sawyer, has had a harder time in the learning process of Reiki than his older brother. Sawyer likes to see things to believe in them, like a lot of us. He also is a bit more afraid than his brother in looking like someone who doesn’t know what he’s talking about in front of friends and other people. He wavers in his belief in God because, like Santa, he hasn’t seen God yet. It’s been a fun process showing him all the things we cannot see but we know are there, like gasses, farts, helium inside balloons, and of course, Reiki energy. We quite often practice making energy balls with our hands in the kids Reiki circle to remind the kids how easy it is to FEEL the energy that they can’t yet see, and thus, know it’s there and real.

Anyway, today we had some light snow flurries and Sawyer and I were looking out the window watching them. We have a lovely view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the San Juan Islands and I was looking over at the storm over the islands. Amidst the snow storm I saw a stream of light shining through the clouds onto the islands and I pointed it out to Sawyer. Quite spontaneously, he said “Wow, mom. It looks like God turned on his desk lamp!”
I have to say, it made this Reiki Mom proud. I couldn’t resist sharing. One of the best parts of being a parent is the great things your kids say.
