When a perplexing situation comes up with a client I turn to what I call, The Foundational Truths of Reiki. When I remember these, then I can look at the situation in a new and different way. For instance, if a client is on my table and they are in more pain then when they came in during or after the Reiki, I can remember foundational truth #1-
REIKI IS ALWAYS POSITIVE AND CAN DO NO HARM
If we know that and believe it to be true (which I do and I do) then I can think, “ok, if Reiki is always positive and can do no harm, then what is this pain the client is feeling? Detox, healing opportunity, a fear that needs to be released, etc. Remembering the foundational truths gets me to ask a different questions or look at the situation from a new perspective. When we are able to get new information, then we are able to do the healing that needs to be done. We are not doing the healing, Reiki is doing the healing, but sometimes we need more information before we can access the healing.

This weekend we had our first Psychic Slumber Party event, which was really all about LOVE!! But under the guise of a slumber party, we were able to start the event with a lighter and airy and a little bit silly vibe, so we could have some FUN right from the get-go.

Again, my Divine Guidance told me to have this event and even when and for how long. All of the events we have a Divinely Guided, but this one was planned very much in every aspect by my D.G. (Divine Guidance).
Every event we have at Rain Shadow Reiki is first and foremost for healing, but we also have goals for: fun, enhancing our psychic abilities and community are very close seconds.

We all choose Goddess Empowerment names to use throughout the day. As we grew and healed through the day we changed our names as we felt it. Helped with the FUN VIBE!!
In this event, the healing focus was on LOVE. Releasing OLD love and bringing in NEW love. That had different definitions for everyone involved. Some attendees were manifesting best friends, roommates, romantic love, business partners, Divine Life Partners, etc. We were as well releasing ‘old’ loves from this life or others; all of the above, plus more. By first focusing on Love of Creator and Love of Self we will be able to love others more and better, as well.

ENERGETIC DIVORCE – YES PLEASE
After a meditation and some ThetaHealing to heal ourselves as babies in the womb, we easily moved into healing our ‘God’ issues, ‘Jesus’ issues, Ex issues and more, much more. We healed marriages and did energetic divorces from all of our lives, we cleaned and cleared all cords and energies between us and the other relationships, healed beliefs that keep us in this revolving door of unhealthy relationships and finally brought in new and beautiful and loving emotions. High Vibrational Emotions to enhance our ability to love, all encompassing. That was a lot to do in 6 hours, but we did it and today, we rest.

SOUL MATES – YES PLEASE
We had a fabulous discussion about what a soul mate is, what we feel it is, and how they play as mirrors and healers in our lives. This also helped in the manifesting portion of our workshop, to be very specific about what kind of soul mate we want to manifest in our lives. There are a lot of ROMANTICIZED notions about soul mates from movies, New Age teachers, society and more. D.G. likes to keep it real and focused on balance. I prefer this perspective and many of my client’s do too.

SLUMBER PARTY VIBE – YES PLEASE
In the cracks, we did fun stuff to keep the slumber party vibe going; we each took turns reading oracle cards, read how young children describe love (Totally adorable, inspirational and tear jerking all in one), showed off our tiaras, tattoos, crystals, PJ’s and more. Plus we had some slumber party food prepared for us to enjoy. All in All, we felt it was very much what we wanted and needed and we are planning to do another one in a few months. YEAH!! Same goal, LOVE, but, different healing opportunities. I always have to mix it up, otherwise I get bored and so do you.

NARCISSISTS – THANK YOU FOR THE HEALING OPPORTUNITIES, BUT – NO PLEASE
OH Yeah, and we also talked about the magnetic draw of narcissists to empaths/HSP and how to heal ourselves of that. And, very important, how to spot them, then how to handle it. LOTS of good information with help from the beautiful and amazing Sica. Then, of course, we did healings for that connection as well. That too will be continued, as it’s an ongoing theme throughout the lives of healers.

Our goals here at Rain Shadow Reiki are to educate, teach and empower us as healers/psychics/empaths/Beautiful Reiki People!! Oh yeah, and of course BRING IN FUN AND JOY, while we are DOING IT ALL!!

Empowerment 1–Focused on staying healthy and calm during quarantine or essential work.
In this workshop we will be psychically pulling from your physical and energetic bodies, plus your subconscious, the fear and other lower vibrating emotions and beliefs that keep us vulnerable to the fear of the virus, and pulling the actual energetic virus. (We will be pulling four viruses: Coronavirus, Sars, Epstein Barr and Influenza). Then we will be downloading positive beliefs and emotions to support your subconscious in order to attract healthier situations in life. This workshop will be different every time and we recommend, during the virus outbreak, taking this workshop once a month. These workshops will be interactive – you will contribute the fears and other emotions that have been predominant for you at this time. Also, we will be exploring hexes that get stuck in your subconscious from media, social media, medical personnel, movies, books, and TV. We now have two healing rooms ready, willing and able to hold space for your healing process. We have three Reiki Master/Teachers, one teaching room, four Reiki Master healers on staff plus a couple more who come when needed for specialty work like; Human Design, Astrology readings, QRI laser healing, Color Puncture and more.
At Rain Shadow Reiki Energy Healing Center we’ve been painting, swatching, shopping (Lots of shopping!!) and much more to get our new healing room ready for …………well…………HEALING!!
VISION
This has been a team effort and it has turned out more beautiful than we could have imagined. It started with Feng Shui. I know a tad bit about Feng Shui, just enough to be dangerous. I knew this room was in our FAME center in the Baqua of the building so I googled FAME CENTER colors and it came up with; orange, red, purple, hot pink, bright yellow, brown and wood for the element. The Fame Center is all about our good name in the community and we want a good name.
OMG, HOW AM I GOING TO TURN THOSE COLORS INTO A CALM HEALING SPACE? Well, we did. I had a vision and we did it. I’m not a decorator or even good with this kind of stuff, but I know what I like, and I have a lot of help.
TEAM WORK
Some of my students came to paint the room while I was on vacation so it was ready to surprise me when I got home. THAT WAS AWESOME! Just like Reiki works, every time we needed something, there was someone there who knew how to do it and volunteered. Much of the time this person was our new office manager, Bren. She’s an amazing DIY’er. Grateful for that and her!!
BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING SPIRIT ART WORK
Along with our vision came with a desire to have a really great painting to showcase the room. We called another one of our clients’ and asked if her husband would be willing to talk to us about the commission. He did and long story short, the painting is beautiful, more beautiful than we could have imagined it to be. He captured our idea and went further with it. We told him that our vision for this room was women all stepping into their light together and raising each other up with that process. Walking side by side in that process and sharing their light. Dwayne sat with Divine and received a vision of his own, then painted it. I have always been very in awe of people who can do that. Art is not my creative talent. But, it is his. Thank you Dwayne Northup.

“If I’ve already had a Reiki Level 1 attunement from one teacher, is it disrespectful to my original teacher to get an attunement from another teacher? I was under the impression that you only got an attunement with each level of learning. Is it ok to get more? Thank you, M
Good Question, thank you M. No, it is not disrespectful to your teacher at all to get another attunement. Reiki Master/Teachers have often come to me and asked me to exchange attunements with them for a boost in energy or for a special intention in their energy or even just to bond with each other by sharing this very special ritual. And, your teacher wants what is best and healing for you. If you FEEL an attunement is for your best and highest good and you are not currently in the same area with your teacher, talk to the Reiki Teacher you are currently working with about having one or ask Reiki Source to send you the right teacher for you.
WHAT REIKI ATTUNEMENTS DO?
Reiki Attunements do a whole lot more than ‘hooking’ you up to the Reiki Source. Yes, you would think that is enough, and it is. Actually, that is incredible. But, to prepare your bodies (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual) for the attunement and ‘hooking’ you up to Source, the attunement also prepares your body to receive the Reiki and allow the Reiki to flow through you.
During this Reiki ritual your energy bodies, chakras, Joy Circuits, energy meridians and aura all get a boost, a clearing and a healing. Reiki wants your body to be at it’s highest vibration when you are connected to the Divine Healing Energy of Reiki, so it raises your vibration. This attunement process is very healing to you on all levels and will also clear any blockages that could be keeping you from reaching your full potential. This is one reason people see/feel detoxifying processes for 30 or more days after a Reiki Attunement, because it’s deeply healing. I have had people report miraculous physical healings after attunements as well because blockages were cleared.
So, if this process is so good for you, any Reiki Teacher worth their weight in Reiki would want you to have one if you want one. We as Reiki Teachers want our students/clients to heal and be happy on their healing path, so the attunement is just one more way to help that happen.

Lately I have been hearing way too many diagnosis’ of cancer, more than usual it seems. About three new ones per week from friends, family, students and clients. In my own immediate family, as well, my own father has been diagnosed with Leukemia just this past June.
It is a challenging time for many people. I Thank God every day that I have Reiki to support me and to offer to others. But, I also have had enough ‘proof’ in my life and my client’s lives that Reiki helps in so many ways, that I understand and believe in the powerful healing that can take place when working with Reiki regularly and diligently. But, even with my strong faith, really difficult times challenge me like anyone else and reading testimonials like these, from people who have been cured, really help us to keep hope alive.
Reiki Practitioners are not allowed to claim anything healing with Reiki, other than stress relief. However, I can talk about my personal experience. And, what I do know from my personal experience, working with my clients who have had cancer, is that Reiki helps in so many ways and it’s different for every person and situation. I have seen Reiki give people exactly what they need most in each situation:
For some of my clients it has helped them get a much-needed nights sleep.
For some the Reiki helps them feel calmer and more hopeful.
For others it helps them get intuitive ideas about their treatments or doctors to choose.
Some clients recover from their surgeries faster and with less prescription pain medication.
For many it has helped them have less side effects from the chemo.
And for others, it helps them to forgive and forget, heal their ‘God’ issues and transition to Heaven with more peace in their hearts.
And for some, yes, they beat it and live cancer free for a long happy life.
These are just what I have personally experienced as a Reiki practitioner working with my clients fighting cancer over the past ten years of practicing.
Reading other people’s success stories, I have found, helps me to have an uplifted spirit, enough to have hope and hope can aid us in forging forward even through the most difficult times. So, in that spirit, I share two success stories from people who were actually spontaneously cured with the help of Reiki and some Reiki practitioners who were there to accept the call.
I post these stories in honor of my father who is on my mind and in my heart every single day.

These stories were documented by before and after medical tests and the observations of licensed health care providers. Please note that while Reiki can cause miraculous healing, it does not always do so. However most patients receive some level of healing with the minimum benefit being relaxation and stress reduction. If you have a medical or psychological condition, it is recommended that you use Reiki in conjunction with the help of a licensed health care provider.
Reiki and Prostate Cancer
With the thought of promoting Reiki, I called an assisted living center to offer an Introduction to Reiki class with free mini-Reiki sessions. When I asked the social director if he was familiar with Reiki, he said, “Let me tell you my story,” and proceeded to tell me that he had been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. His massage therapist, a Reiki Level II practitioner, had been told by a psychic that he (the social director) needed to receive three treatments in close succession by three Reiki healers.
Based on his story, I quickly set things in motion and our team gave him Reiki on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. No other treatment was given. Prior to his Reiki treatment, his Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test results showed a level of 4.0 and his doctor diagnosed that he had a prostate cancer. The Monday after we completed the three treatments he was again tested. On the following Wednesday he called to say the test results showed 0.3 and that he was free of cancer. He remarked that in all of his life the test results had never been that low. I am so honored to have been a part of his healing. Reiki and Uterine Cancer
Six years ago while a Level II Reiki healer I witnessed an extraordinary healing of a woman diagnosed with cancer. My Reiki Master (Colleen Chauntler of Gladstone, Australia) was staying with me at the time. A woman was brought to my home presenting a distended lower abdomen, and we were told by her friends that she has been sick for some months. In the week prior to this visit she had a scan and had been told by doctors that she had a large tumor in her uterus that was probably cancerous. Surgery was planned for the following week. We decided to give her three sessions of Reiki healing throughout the week, hoping that would encourage rapid healing for her after her surgery. Rather than the usual hand positions, the three of us who worked on her decided to focus on only three areas — my Reiki Master held her hands on the patient’s lower abdomen, I had my hands on her head (crown) and another Level II healer (Sharon Honatana) was at her feet. We stayed like that for approximately an hour each session.
On the day she was to check in to the hospital I saw an area of large, black energy in the shape of a ball and surrounded by what appeared to be sparking energy lift from her abdomen and rise up into the air. It kept rising and then disappeared through the ceiling of the room. I asked if anyone else had seen it and each of the others confirmed the same thing, including the patient. She duly went on to check into the hospital, and when examined her they could not feel the tumor; they sent her for a scan and it had gone. She told us with great humor that the doctors were arguing and quite flustered at the result. They eventually went on to do an exploratory operation but no tumor could be found. She had therapy for the few cancer cells that they did fine and is fit and healthy now. The woman believes she was healed by Satya Sai Baba and Reiki. On the night before her last session she said she dreamed she was in her car and it was teetering on the edge of a cliff. Below her was blackness; in her rearview mirror she could see a long road, and walking along this road was Sai Baba. he came toward her car and stood looking at her. She cried out to him to help her and he reached down and pulled her car off the edge of the cliff and placed it back on the road. –Penelope (Penny) Hayward

QUESTION:
Thank you Josslyn for sending daily Reiki to my sick dogs. I am attuned to Reiki but I haven’t been using it to send healing to my dogs because I’m so stressed about them being sick. Will the energy be enough if am under stress. I know that I need to heal myself first before I send healing to others, but I am not confident if I am worried like this, that they are getting what they need.

Our Divine Creator understands we humans are stressed much of the time, this is one of the reasons we have been gifted with Reiki at this time to help us deal with the high stress levels we are under while in human form and help us learn how to lower it naturally and spiritually with the help of Reiki.
If we all waited until we were not stressed or completely healed before doing Reiki on others, we would literally never be able to do Reiki. None of us are perfect and yet doing Reiki will help us get closer to spiritual enlightenment. One Reiki healing at a time.
The Reiki is Divine energy, we are just the channel. The Reiki is intelligent in its own right and knows exactly what is needed in each situation. Therefore, all we need to do is ask and be the channel, then allow the Reiki to do the healing. All healing comes from our Divine Source, not us. Therefore, Doing Reiki while stressed is better than not doing it at all. Right!?!
By doing Reiki on your sick dogs, the Reiki will heal your dogs in the way they need most, and the Reiki will flow through you, helping you to feel less stressed, thus healing you too. Reiki is a win/win situation. Everyone in the process receives exactly what they need. If you were stressed when you started, I bet you feel much calmer by the time you are done. Maybe you even have a ‘higher’ understanding of why your dogs and you are having to go through this period of dis-ease. But, just by knowing you are helping your dogs, you too will feel better.
Go ahead and do it, it will be exactly what your pets need and will most likely de-stress you in the process too.

First of all, I’d like to say a BIG HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our All Mens Reiki class!! These men put aside all fears and reservations about what Reiki MIGHT be and went for it. And, boy, did they go for it!
My Reiki men, truly a courageous group of men. Reiki on!!
A couple of months ago, two of my Reiki students informed me that their husbands, and one father would like to take a Reiki class. “Ok”, I said, “lets manifest that.” I knew if it was meant to be, it would happen, and it did. I opened the class up to all men who would like to take the class and asked my students (who are mostly women) to talk to their partners about the class. Four brave men showed up, plus my husband to add moral support.
Brand Spankin’ New
These men knew very little about Reiki, other than it had helped the women in their lives. The first thing we did in class was make sure that no single man in the room had been hog tied and brought against his own free will. Nope, everyone came on their own. Every man who heard about the class had the choice to come or not. These men showed up. Not only did they show up, they gave it everything they had. This group of men, who were unsure of themselves in a spiritual setting and unsure of Reiki, asked more questions than most of my other classes AND they even asked questions about Reiki that I didn’t know. They are the first class to GIVE ME HOMEWORK!! Cuddos to them.
Never Give Up, Never Surrender
All done, feeling pretty good!! Congratulations Dan, Robert, Noel, Joe and Jacob!! Truly open-hearted courageous men in my book!
After learning about Reiki a bit, being attuned and practicing Reiki on themselves with success all on their first day, the men started really opening up not just their curiosity but their hearts as well. By day two, they were totally into it, taking it in and even enjoying it–although, still somewhat perplexed and confused at times.
They did not give up. They continued on fully present, fully committed and fully prepared to truly work at making this Reiki healing part of their lives. I was so proud of them, so amazed at their commitment and desire to learn and open up and so honored to be learning as much from them as they were learning from me. Even when parts of the class, like meeting their spirit guides, got emotional and touched their hearts in ways they didn’t expect, these men grasped the experience and allowed it, they didn’t fight it, they just accepted. It was truly beautiful to be a part of.
Normal, Everyday Guys
These men had very little exposure to spiritual classes or events before this class. This truly was their first experience into energy and what is possible with it. They opened up their heart and their minds, and their crown chakras (literally) and totally went for it. That takes a great deal of courage.
We all have choices in our lives, sometimes we don’t feel we do, but we do. Many men had the choice to come to this class and didn’t. The men who showed up could have come, but closed off to something totally strange and new to them, but they didn’t. They chose to come and they chose to jump in with both feet first into the deep end and totally go for it. Because of that, they each had their own true spiritual experience that made the class unique to them and will most likely stand out in their minds as a very important day in their spiritual growth. Having the spiritual experience is what most of us are seeking without knowing it, if you chose to open up to it as these men did, you will get it. Maybe not at first, maybe not what you expect, but you will get it.
Now what they do with Reiki from here on out is truly their choice.
I’m available for help after class to answer questions, hold Reiki Circles and Round Tables, but it is up to each student to DO for themselves, to ‘show up’ for themselves each and every day and actually practice their Reiki on themselves. Reiki is like anything else in this world, we have to actually DO IT in order to feel any difference in our lives. That is a little trick Divine plays on us, we must do a certain amount for ourselves, then we’ll be met part way by miracles. Are you ready for your Reiki miracles?

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to my most recent Reiki I beginner class students. Every class is so different because the people are all different. They bring with them their own history, their own stories, their own unique gifts to share and it creates an experience that is unique in and of itself, every single time. I love it and I never get bored, ever. This class was highly dedicated to healing themselves on some very deep levels. I have talked over the years with many other healers about the ego. It’s a big topic and everyone seems to have a different way of handling their ego during a Reiki healing on a client. Most people see the ego as a negative influence on the healing process; questioning, denying our intuitive thoughts, etc. Therefore many people label it as bad, in the way, something that needs to be dealt with, like a naughty child.
What if we heal it, not extinguish it?
I have considered these views over the years and tried many of the methods I’ve been taught by others. Unfortunately, none of them felt right to me. I believe it is because over the many years of healing myself and my thought processes, I have found that my ego has been here all this time mainly to protect me from myself and others who have hurt me. It adds a cushion between me and getting hurt again. Like many things in our lives, this protection may have been needed as a child, or at one time in my life, but as I have grown and changed, I have new tools to work with now. I have Reiki and I’m an adult with a new more mature view on life, so this type of protection is no longer needed. But, it keeps ‘protecting’ me whether I want it to or not because that is how our human selves are made.
What Is Ego Protection?
Treating my ego like this didn’t feel right to me. It was like punishing a part of me. I had to come up with a new way that worked for me and my ego both.
Often the ego protects us in the form of what seems like negative behaviors; defensiveness, anger, procrastination, non-movement or freezing, judgment towards others or yourself, and any other ‘negative’ behavior that protects you from living life to the fullest or making so-called mistakes.
Example of Ego Protection
For example, when we meet a new friend, we may be excited because we really like them and we feel a connection to them. Maybe you are really ready to make a new friend and have been asking Divine to send you someone you really connect with. But then your ego may cause you to sabotage the friendship in someway because you’ve been hurt by friends in the past. It could have been in childhood, or even in a past life, probably both. You may not even remember the original incidence, but your ego does. Your subconscious mind remembers and created a protection device way back when to help you not make the same mistake again. Well, the same mistake might be keeping you from having long-lasting friendships or even long-lasting relationships now. Even though this happened a long time ago, it’s still ruling your current life. Probably not what you want. We have many of these protections that our mind and ego together have created. Our mind creates the thought process and our ego carries out the orders, like the heavy. It’s a great plan, until it’s not.
Ego Vs. Intuition
Quite often, as a Reiki practitioner, our ego gets in the way of the process of Reiki flowing during a healing on others or on our self. When intuitive information comes in, sometimes the ego second guesses it, questions it or totally dismisses it. This ‘conversation’ can be going on in our heads causing a blockage of energy flow and information flow. This also often causes us to not be grounded during a session because of the battle being waged in our minds. Not the scenario we want. We want the energy flowing as well as the intuitive information without questioning without blockage.
Why does this happen?
There are many reasons this may happen. This is something you’ll need to work on with Reiki and meditation on your own to figure out. But, one theme I have found quite common amongst healers is the past life theme of judgment, condemnation or death for being a witch, healer, pagan, or psychic. Therefore, our ego believes it is not safe to do healing or intuitive work and therefore protects us from doing this. Many of us in this day and age feel quite safe doing this kind of work but our ego remembers long ago when it was not. It is still protecting us to this day because it does not feel safe.
Positive Vs. Negative
When you start viewing the world as ‘It’s all good!” then it becomes all good and much can be healed. When I started viewing my ego as a positive part of me that is here to help me, I was able to open up to ways to help heal my ego and thus heal me. A whole new world opened up to me. Anything can be viewed this way because we learn from everything. Therefore, everything is good. Even illness can be a gift when we view it as part of our learning journey on this planet.
How to Heal Your Ego While in a Healing Yourself
Prior to a healing or meditation, this is how I take care of my ego so as to keep the energy and information flowing nicely. I do the prayer position or the Gassho before every meditation and healing that I do. So this is my technique. As always, this is one way, a way that I have found that works for me. I teach this in my classes and have found it to work well. If it doesn’t work for you then please feel free to be creative and find what works with your ego. There is no wrong. We are all unique and we all require a unique method that speaks to us.
Place your hands in prayer position, the Gassho. While doing your beginning invocation; grounding, affirming safe and sacred space, and affirming that you are a clear channel for the Reiki energy, you also add in a place for your ego to go. (If you don’t remember the Gassho, get your Reiki I manual out or your Reiki book and review this information. I find it extremely helpful to my centering of my mind and being prepared during a healing situation.)
The first few times you do this, put extra intention and visualization into it. You may want to practice this before you meditate so you can spend a little more time on it at first. Then add it to your healing invocation.
Create a safe space for you ego to go during the meditation/healing. I send my ego to the day spa. I create a beautiful sanctuary like space up above my higher self in between me and my Divine Source connection. I imagine my ego on a massage table receiving Reiki healing from angels and spirit guides. Get creative with this and make the spa irresistible to your ego, so wonderful that your ego will want to stay there for a very long time.
If your ego feels like this, it won’t be bothering you during your healing.
I hold the intention that my ego is receiving a healing just like myself or my client and that for the greatest good for all, my ego will get the healing it needs and deserves for the many years of service it has given me. Be truly heart centered here.
Ask Divine Source, Mother Father God, to send down the Highest and most Sacred Order of Reiki guides to help with the healing of your ego while they also help you with the Reiki healing or meditation you are about to do. Ask that your ego get everything it needs to feel safe and secure during this time.
Wait until you FEEL that your ego is safe and happy and then move on to your healing or meditation.
Continue healing your ego with meditation, psychotherapy, hypnosis, Emotional Freedom Technique or any other technique that works well for you in between healings. These are powerful healing tools for the mind.
Remember the ego is a part of us, a part that is doing it’s best to help us and even heal us. When we open up to new possibilities, miracles can happen. How is your ego trying to help you?
That’s it. Practice, intend, visualize and put emotion into it and you’ll be all good!!
