Reiki For Cancer – Testimonials

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

Lately I have been hearing way too many diagnosis’ of cancer, more than usual it seems.  About three new ones per week from friends, family, students and clients.  In my own immediate family, as well, my own father has been diagnosed with Leukemia just this past June.

Positive reinforcement word Believe in Miracles engrained in a rock

It is a challenging time for many people.  I Thank God every day that I have Reiki to support me and to offer to others.  But, I also have had enough ‘proof’ in my life and my client’s lives that Reiki helps in so many ways, that I understand and believe in the powerful healing that can take place when working with Reiki regularly and diligently.  But, even with my strong faith, really difficult times challenge me like anyone else and reading testimonials like these, from people who have been cured, really help us to keep hope alive.
GoodThingsCometothosewhoBelieve

Reiki Practitioners are not allowed to claim anything healing with Reiki, other than stress relief.  However, I can talk about my personal experience.  And, what I do know from my personal experience, working with my clients who have had cancer, is that Reiki helps in so many ways and it’s different for every person and situation.  I have seen Reiki give people exactly what they need most in each situation:

  • For some of my clients it has helped them get a much-needed nights sleep.
  • For some the Reiki helps them feel calmer and more hopeful.
  • For others it helps them get intuitive ideas about their treatments or doctors to choose.
  • Some clients recover from their surgeries faster and with less prescription pain medication.
  • For many it has helped them have less side effects from the chemo.
  • And for others, it helps them to forgive and forget, heal their ‘God’ issues and transition to Heaven with more peace in their hearts.
  • And for some, yes, they beat it and live cancer free for a long happy life.

These are just what I have personally experienced as a Reiki practitioner working with my clients fighting cancer over the past ten years of practicing.

KeepCalmBelieveInMiraclesOceanReading other people’s success stories, I have found, helps me to have an uplifted spirit, enough to have hope and hope can aid us in forging forward even through the most difficult times.  So, in that spirit, I share two success stories from people who were actually spontaneously cured with the help of Reiki and some Reiki practitioners who were there to accept the call.

I post these stories in honor of my father who is on my mind and in my heart every single day.

I’m here to facilitate your healing if you need some support in that,  I do understand life’s daily challenges first hand and how to find joy in the healing process.  If you need a Reiki practitioner to work with, locally or long distance, I’m happy to be considered to aid in your healing or spiritual path.

Blessings to you all, Josslyn, Reiki Master/Teacher

These Two Stories have been Copied from The Reiki News Magazine Winter 2014 p. 69

These stories were documented by before and after medical tests and the observations of licensed health care providers.  Please note that while Reiki can cause miraculous healing, it does not always do so.  However most patients receive some level of healing with the minimum benefit being relaxation and stress reduction.  If you have a medical or psychological condition, it is recommended that you use Reiki in conjunction with the help of a licensed health care provider.

Reiki and Prostate Cancer

With the thought of promoting Reiki, I called an assisted living center to offer an Introduction to Reiki class with free mini-Reiki sessions.  When I asked the social director if he was familiar with Reiki, he said, “Let me tell you my story,” and proceeded to tell me that he had been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer.  His massage therapist, a Reiki Level II practitioner, had been told by a psychic that he (the social director) needed to receive three treatments in close succession by three Reiki healers.

Based on his story, I quickly set things in motion and our team gave him Reiki on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.  No other treatment was given.  Prior to his Reiki treatment, his Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test results showed a level of 4.0 and his doctor diagnosed that he had a prostate cancer.  The Monday after we completed the three treatments he was again tested.  On the following Wednesday he called to say the test results showed 0.3 and that he was free of cancer.  He remarked that in all of his life the test results had never been that low.  I am so honored to have been a part of his healing.  I feel honored to be called by Reiki, a major part of my life.  –Phran Gacher, Stamford, Connecticut

Reiki and Uterine Cancer

Six years ago while a Level II Reiki healer I witnessed an extraordinary healing of a woman diagnosed with cancer.  My Reiki Master (Colleen Chauntler of Gladstone, Australia) was staying with me at the time.  A woman was brought to my home presenting a distended lower abdomen, and we were told by her friends that she has been sick for some months.  In the week prior to this visit she had a scan and had been told by doctors that she had a large tumor in her uterus that was probably cancerous.  Surgery was planned for the following week.  We decided to give her three sessions of Reiki healing throughout the week, hoping that would encourage rapid healing for her after her surgery.  Rather than the usual hand positions, the three of us who worked on her decided to focus on only three areas — my Reiki Master held her hands on the patient’s lower abdomen, I had my hands on her head (crown) and another Level II healer (Sharon Honatana) was at her feet.  We stayed like that for approximately an hour each session.

On the day she was to check in to the hospital I saw an area of large, black energy in the shape of a ball and surrounded by what appeared to be sparking energy lift from her abdomen and rise up into the air.  It kept rising and then disappeared through the ceiling of the room.  I asked if anyone else had seen it and each of the others confirmed the same thing, including the patient.  She duly went on to check into the hospital, and when examined her they could not feel the tumor; they sent her for a scan and it had gone.  She told us with great humor that the doctors were arguing and quite flustered at the result.  They eventually went on to do an exploratory operation but no tumor could be found.  She had therapy for the few cancer cells that they did fine and is fit and healthy now.  The woman believes she was healed by Satya Sai Baba and Reiki.  On the night before her last session she said she dreamed she was in her car and it was teetering on the edge of a cliff.  Below her was blackness; in her rearview mirror she could see a long road, and walking along this road was Sai Baba.  he came toward her car and stood looking at her.  She cried out to him to help her and he reached down and pulled her car off the edge of the cliff and placed it back on the road. –Penelope (Penny) Hayward

The Value of the Small Every Day Lessons-Theresa Caputo, Book Excerpt

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

As a healer, we can sometimes get caught up in the BIG and so-called IMPORTANT life lessons, I know I do.  Luckily Spirit also reminds me often as to the importance of the smaller, every day lessons.  I was reminded recently of the lessons of gratitude and forgiveness but also of daily joy, sacrafice and kindness. Every single day we have a choice to be kind or to act impatiently with people. Every single day we have the choice to bring joy into our daily routine or to look at it with contempt at the monotony of it.  These are smaller lessons that are also very important because they make up the whole of our day and affect our mood and attitude, but they can also have powerful ripple effects across many people’s lives that we may not be consciously aware of.

I read this one first, lost of fun!!
I read this one first, lost of fun!!

I am currently reading two books by Theresa Caputo, The Long Island Medium, “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up” and “There’s More To LIfe Than This”.  I won these books in an auction basket at my son’s school and couldn’t believe I didn’t have them.  I love her show and I love reading books by mediums.  I have at least ten different books by mediums: Brian Hurst, James Van Praagh, Allison Dubois, John Edward, and more and I’ve loved them all.  I read and reread them for the inspirational messages about our loved ones communicating with us, even though, I too, do this work for my clients.  I still love reading the stories.  They always life my spirit and that is a good thing.  I recommend them if you are grieving, they helped me through some difficult periods of grief.

So, here is a small segment from Theresa’s book, “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up” on little lessons, it spoke to me.  There are lots of good parts of this book, but this one said ‘SHARE ME,’ so I’m sharing.  Some times the ‘little lessons’ are in the forefront of your life and they can have just as much impact as the big lessons.

(Theresa’s books and more books by mediums are available in the Rain Shadow Reiki lending library for check out.)

Book Excerpt: You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

Are You My Lesson?

Though some lessons might smack you in the face, be on the lookout for less obvious ones.  I think most people assume that all lessons happen during major moments, like a heartbreaking death or beautiful soul mate reunion, because you feel their impact long after they happen.  Certainly, losing a parent or gaining a best friend changes your life in an instant.  But spirit also tells me that we learn lessons in small, everyday interactions too.  If you feel the urge to buy a stranger a cookie, say, or hold the door for a father lugging groceries, a diaper bag, and a car seat, everyone’s day and souls benefit from that kindness.

BOOKYou-cant-make-this-stuff-up-TheresaCaputo_lgOn a more frustrating and stupid note, you know that jerk who took your seat on the bus?  He could be a lesson in patience.  How about your money-mooching brother? Generosity.  Or your husband’s friends who got pizza sauce on your couch during Sunday Night Football?  Probably sacrifice.  so the next time you’re at Thanksgiving dinner, and your sister-in-law leaves you out of family photos, don’t try to control, over analyze, fight against it, or go cryin’ in the bathroom, “Why is this happening to me, of all people?”

 Look for the lesson instead.

Let the situation unfold, and find the reason.

It helps you deal, and here’s why: When the reason, and not the problem, becomes your focus, you don’t think about how sad, pissed-off, or doomed you are.  You can accept the outcome, then concentrate on how to move past it.  Your life is your responsibility– your soul chose it long ago.  If you want a positive and fulfilling journey, don’t let people hold you back.  And don’t forget, Spirit is ready to intervene when you ask.

When I accepted my gift, God told me in so many words that He wants our lives to be as rewarding and connected to each other as possible–but listen, this can’t happen if you don’t participate in your own happiness.  Even when there’s a tragedy, you can’t let life happen to you when it’s time to pick up the pieces.  God gave you a beautiful, complex world in which to become a better, stronger, and happier you.

And while painful situations can feel forced upon you, how you cope and work through them is a choice and, yep, usually a lesson.

Your life is your responsibility -- your soul chose it long ago. If you want a positive and fulfilling journey, don't let people hold you back. And don't forget Spirit is ready to intervene when you ask. Theresa Caputo
Your life is your responsibility — your soul chose it long ago. If you want a positive and fulfilling journey, don’t let people hold you back. And don’t forget Spirit is ready to intervene when you ask. Theresa Caputo

So you know that saying “Everything happens for a reason”?  Spirit’s proven to me that it’s not just for motivational posters and crocheted pillows!  It’s actually part of your soul’s lessons and path.  during readings, your loved ones’ souls have told me that there’s an order to why things occur the way they do, like when one person survives a car accident but another passenger dies, or when a child sees her deceased sister’s spirit but other people can’t.  The literal answer to why these freaky examples happen is related to destiny and intuition.  But if I dig deeper with Spirit, it might turn out that an accident victim’s death inspired his family to work toward enacting tougher drunk driving laws, and the girl who saw Spirit comforted her grieving family with her stories.  Talk about how worthwhile reasons, not to mention great examples of how our souls learn and teach lessons to others!”

“You rarely know the big or small lessons you’re learning when you’re in the middle of them; you usually see them after the fact.  I say better late than never.  Some people spend their entire lives miserable and never realize those feelings were necessary in order for them to grow.  I know it was easy for me to lose sight of God’s purpose when I suffered from anxiety.  Even after I realized that in a roundabout way, my scary condition could bring others peace–how’s that for irony? — it took me five stubborn years to embrace my gift.  But once I accepted that it was part of a bigger plan, I let myself learn all I could.  This made me feel empowered, which helped me see that my past wasn’t a waste.

Instead of remembering this period as the twenty-five years that nearly ruined my life, I saw it as God’s long-term investment in redirecting my path.

I used to get upset wondering how much better off I’d be if anxiety didn’t ‘hold me back,’ but my take on that period of time has changed.  Listen, I might not have met Larry at work or had kids young if I’d had a career in Manhattan, or been surrounded by friends and family when I accepted my gift, if I’d felt safe and secure moving away from them.  Things worked out as they were supposed to as soon as I looked for healing and guidance, found it, and then ran with it.  I welcomed my path and stayed open to my lessons, and I’ve been blessed ever since.  In a lot of ways, anxiety’s been one hell of a teacher.

Life reminds me of one of those fancy knitting projects on Pinterest–your learned lessons and life events create intricate patterns, and the recurring stitch is your purpose.  Whether you volunteer, make people laugh, or start political movements, you’re meant to make a difference in some way.  I realize that it’s easy for me to say that Spirit wants us to live with intent, since they’re in my ear all day, talking about how much there is to know.  But hey, I’m not letting their words go unnoticed.  You’ve got me, and I’ve got a big mouth!  These lips have a purpose!

A lot like your lessons, your purpose doesn’t have to be prestigious or put you in the spotlight.  Who cares if you never become a celebrated novelist, brain surgeon, or the next Kardashian?  Your purpose could mean a lot on a smaller scale.  It might be about prioritizing family, improving your community, or caring for animals.  There are a lot of cats out there that need foster homes!”

When you learn lessons, you don’t suddenly get richer, become mayor, or turn into a Positive Polly.  You gain something much harder to earn and more valuable — wisdom.  Learning lessons isn’t about being perfect, it’s about recognizing that your time here unfolds the way it’s meant to, as you make choices that fulfill you.

Book – ‘Soul Rays’ by Candia Sanders LIVE!

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki in Sequim, WA

I met Candia at a Body,Mind,Spirit Expo in Pasadena ten years ago. This was taken at the Portland one.
I met Candia at a Body,Mind,Spirit Expo in Pasadena ten years ago. This was taken at the Portland one about 8 years ago.

I have worked with a Medical Intuitive, Candia Sanders, for the past ten years for my variety of chronic health conditions as well as learning how to work with my very sensitive and psychic body/mind/spirit.  Over the years she has been my healer, mentor, teacher, friend and now considered a dear soul sister.  She is an amazing bright light in my life and I’m incredibly grateful for all she has taught me and helped me with.  I wouldn’t be the healer I am today if it weren’t for her visionary work healing and guiding me.

Candia talking to our group in my packed living room.
Candia talking to our group in my packed living room.

Candia and I work by phone most of the time, but every now and then we are in the same place at the same time and we get to connect physically again.  The Universe conspired this September for this to happen while she was on her book tour promoting “Soul Rays”.

Candia and her husband, Dale were coming to Port Angeles, the town next door, to talk at the Unity Church about her book “Soul Rays, Discover the Vibratory Frequency of Your Soul.” (I’m in the book, pg. 133 in case you wanted to know.) I had a two-day class cancel at the last-minute, opening up the door for Candia and Dale to walk through.  At the very last-minute I thought, “Wow, I really want all my Reiki students/clients to have a chance to meet Candia.” So I asked her if she’d be willing to do a talk.  She’s always positive and of course, even two days before the night of the talk, jumped at the chance to meet my Reiki friends.

Candia’s Very Special Own Healing Technique

With one day notice, via email, 23 people showed up at my home to hear Candia talk about her self-healing path, from a severe skiing accident to being ‘zapped’ by toxins by a local paper mill twenty years ago to more recent physical sensitivities she’s healing for herself. Over many years of trial and error and undeterred experimentation of working on herself, she developed an energy healing technique to heal herself and others by energetically manipulating the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual body back into alignment.  It’s kind of like what a chiropractor does to the skeletal system, but she does it on ALL four levels at the same time.  It is very cool, and extremely effective.  I’m proof.

What is a Soul Ray?

Book Soul Ray by Candia SandersCandia is always thinking outside the box for new ways to heal, new analogies that help us understand our healing paths and new visuals to help us heal ourselves.   Then she teaches her clients.  She also enjoys writing and writes like she talks with great vision and symbolism.  At the meeting she talked about her new book “Soul Rays.”  A soul ray is not an aura, I’ve already made that mistake.  No, this is a vibratory color that we chose before coming into physical body that represents our path for this lifetime.  We chose a color for an issue we are needing to master, such as the blue ray would work on communication or lack of communication and a yellow ray would work on power/empowerment.  This is where the term Indigo came from, that is talking about a soul ray, not the person’s aura colors.  Aura colors change all the time, the soul ray stays the same throughout a person’s whole life on earth.  According to Candia’s book, we will be each soul ray in our many lives until we master what we want to master.  Here is a quote from Candia’s book that might help explain better than my laymen’s terms.

Soul Ray Quote

Candia with Sharon. Sharon's smile is contagious and she was so excited to be here to hear Candia I had to include her beautiful photo in this blog. She's an amazing soul.
Candia with Sharon. Sharon’s smile is contagious and she was so excited to be here to hear Candia I had to include her beautiful photo in this blog. She’s an amazing soul.

In choosing human potential, the soul is given the freedom to decide what is the most viable and valuable experience for the growth of the soul.  the life, time frame, location, genetic pattern, physical attributes (size, shape, sex), emotional structuring, special familial symmetry (grandparents, parents, siblings, friends) frailties, strengths, circumstances, advantages, disadvantages, direction, and the skills, tools, and make-up of personality, are all considered and clearly implemented with a team of advisors, counselors, and higher conscious beings.  As a soul traveler you have the ability to perceive in advance what your greatest resources will be, the largest challenges, and the heroes/heroines and villains on your journey.  Some of these loving or villainous characters will surprise you as comprehension and memories fade, lost as the fog of human form rivals and takes over from the oversoul and the intuitive process is disregarded.  This became the birthing point of each human form, the best opportunity to polish the facets of each soul’s unique blueprint.” from Soul Rays by Candia Sanders

How to Find Out What Your Soul Ray Is?

Nursing babies and pets are often participating in events at my house. Even Baby Grace had her soul ray reading.
Nursing babies and pets are often participating in events at my house. Even Baby Grace had her soul ray reading.

Candia’s book goes through each color Ray and describes what each personality is like, what they are working on if they chose this color and how to work with it better for your future path.  Some people may be able to tell from these descriptions what their ray color is, however, it’s tricky too, because we chose our color based on what we need to work on, not necessarily what our favorite color is or what we as humans want to work on.  A few people at the talk had been told they were Indigos by other healers when they were really violets.  There is a difference.  Once they read about the violet ray, it really made sense to them more than the Indigo.  A great deal of understanding comes from knowing our personal soul ray, for us and for understanding those around us as well.

After the talk, my husband Robert left, Candia's husband Dale, middle and Gigi's husband, Gerry sat around talking. I'm sure they were talking about Soul Rays!!
After the talk, my husband Robert (left), Candia’s husband Dale, (middle) and Gigi’s husband, Gerry (right) sat around talking. I’m sure they were talking about Soul Rays!!  It’s not easy being the husband of an intuitive healer, nice they can talk together and share notes.  Actually, I think they were talking about world currency and economic markets.  Look carefully to see Candia’s dog, Charlie.

At the end of Candia’s book she gives ideas on how to discover what your personal soul ray is and of course you can call Candia for a session and she’ll tell you personally and describe your strengths and weaknesses in attributing this to your current life path.  She’s truly an amazing healing, I recommend having a session with her. Her book can be found on Amazon for download or soft back, I have both.  Click here for a link to her website.

Testimonials From our Soul Ray Talk

I highly recommend Candia’s book and working with Candia as a healer.  I could go on and on with ten years of work together behind us but I’ll let the testimonials from the people who were here for her talk do the talking.

It was a truly magical night for me, three of my soul sisters in my house together at the same time, plus so many spiritual friends. The vibe was incredible for me. One of those events that happens rarely and I'm just filled with gratitude for it. Ellen with Baby Grace, me, Gigi and Candia. Souls transforming our planet just by emanating Love and Light. I'm so blessed.

One of those events that happens rarely and I’m just filled with gratitude for it. Left to Right – Ellen with Baby Grace, me, Gigi and Candia. Souls transforming our planet just by emanating Love and Light. I’m so blessed.

I feel blessed to have been included in the group last evening. Candia absolutely ‘nailed it’ with her reading of my soul ray and halo. Indigo and Green. In fact I was getting antsy to get back to the farm as darkness dropped on the sky outside – had to get the chickens locked up. (That’s the green halo). I had purchase the Kindle version of her book and read it before attending the event. Immediately – once I was sure that the dogs, cats, chickens, llamas and sheep were safely tucked in for the night (such a green trait) I got right back into the book and read it through again before dropping off to sleep. My Indigo soul ray shines in my work as a meditation instructor trained by Deepak Chopra, a certified NLP Practitioner, writer, publisher and founder of the Center of Infinite Reflections in Sequim.I’ve worked with color auras for 40 years and am open to new visions. Candia’s work resonates with my soul.”  Susan Davis,

Candia is “spot on”.  She is like no one I have ever met and hear talk before.  She speaks the truth and is so compassionate and strong in getting her feelings and knowledge across.  I have not been able to put down her book because it solidifies for me what I have been feeling and wanting out of this life on this planet.” Karen Maloney

“There were so many things said by Candia last night that resonated with me but one that caught my attention was – give yourself permission to have fun.  I’m still dealing with statements from my childhood about getting all the work done first.  Is it really ever done?!?!?!  That was an A-Ha moment for me.  Permission granted!!  Thank you, Candia!”
Joanie S.

Josslyn,  What an amazing night I had, we all had! Things just keep transforming and changing and getting more amazing since meeting you! Meeting and hearing Candia speak was just another piece to the puzzle for me. I feel like a huge geode that is about to crack open! Candia’s talk affirmed so much for me. I left with my heart full and truly felt as if I was standing in my own power. Words really cannot express the experience of meeting her. What a true blessing she is to this world!  Peace and Blessings, Sharon Rowland”

As Candia presented the different Rays and their attributes, everyone knew someone who fit each.  Their paths in life mirrored the Ray. It felt very organic, and is very accurate.  I have been awakened twice by an “Aha!” moment since her presentation.   Candia is  a delightful, passionate and brilliant (literally) speaker.”  Rena R.

Hello Josslyn,  I am writing this today because it all had to sink-in.  Candia is a wonderful speaker, I felt her message. I am feeling a lot from her book. I have said many times all energies are the same just different modalities. Reiki, DE energy medicine, Healing Touch, Acupuncture, Cranial-sacral,  Akashic Records, Soul Ray etc.  I began this journey with the passing of my son and connected with a medium intuitive.  He connected me with my son , family, and guides.  I knew then they never leave us. Then I found Reiki and you right here in Sequim. In Reiki I learned of loving healing energy.  I could heal myself with the Divine energy and send it out to others.  If I have a worry I call upon the divine energies to heal it. Its been a hard road but I am learning  to release things.

I am so interested in the Healing Energies, I know this is my path.  I have read many books on the energies, CWG by Neale Donald Walsh really speaks to me.
I have been trying to connect with my soul.  That is what happened to me today.  That is what happened to me Friday night when Candia was telling us  of Soul Ray!   I can say Friday night was magical for me also.  Thank you for introducing us to Candia.

love, JC”
In Love and LIght of our Divine,
Reiki Blessings to you ALL!!

Book Excerpt – “Learning Their Language, Intuitive Communication with Animals And Nature”

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki

I’m reading another fabulous book “Learning their Language” by Marta Williams, this one about communicating with animals.  But it’s not just about communicating with animals it also stresses the importance of communicating with nature as a whole to keep a balance in our world.  In my opinion this is what has been missing in the modern age.  The native indigenous cultures have long since not only believed in communicating with nature but also LIVED it.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book so far.  I’m not even half way through with it and I’m already wanting to write about it.Book Learning Their Language

“To them, animals, plants, and the features of the land are relatives; every form of life has feelings, intelligence, spirit, and the ability to communicate, regardless of form and species.”  Marta Williams

Imagine what we could do to protect our planet if we learned to communicate with Mother Earth the way this tribe does?!  A great story, read on….

“A contemporary example of this relationship can be seen in the U’wa, a tribe who have lived in the cloud forests of the Colombian Andes for thousands of years.  The U’wa are now threatened by development;  Occidental Petroleum has been exploring for oil on U’wa tribal lands.  Oil extraction would result in destruction of the region and the U’wa way of life.  At one point, the U’wa vowed to commit collective suicide if the project went forward, because they view death as preferable to watching the destruction of their homeland.  They believe that oil is the blood running through the veins of the earth.  In their words:

‘Oil is the blood of Mother Earth…to take the oil is , for us, worse than killing your own mother.  If you kill the Earth, then no one will live.’

If humans hope to survive and thrive on this earth, we will have to relearn how to live in partnership with all other life forms.  Our beliefs about animals and the natural world must shift to something more like those of our ancestors and contemporary indigenous people.  Learning intuitive communication helps make this possible.

There is tremendous power in being able to communicate intuitively with animals and nature – a power to help stop destruction and bring protection and positive change.  The U’wa reconsidered their original plan for dealing with the oil companies and devised a new strategy.  They decided to talk to the oil and tell it to ‘move’ and hide from the oil company drills.  I recently read that Occidental Petroleum, the multinational oil company doing the exploratory drilling, announced that it was relinquishing control of the U’wa ancestral lands after company oil exploration last summer came up dry.  That kind of collaboration to protect nature becomes possible once you have the ability to communicate intuitively with other life forms.”

Did you know the trees talk?  Well they do.  They talk to each other, and they’ll talk to you if you listen.  Trouble is, white people don’t listen.  They never learned to listen to the Indians so I don’t suppose they’ll listen to other voices in nature.  But I have learned a lot from trees: sometimes about the weather, sometimes about animals, sometimes about the Great Spirit.” Walking Buffalo (Tatanga Mani), a Stoney Indian of Alberta, was educated in white man’s schools but never gave up his relationship with nature.  At the age of eighty-seven, in a speech he gave in London in the late 1960’s he described his ability to talk to trees.

I pray you enjoyed these quotes from this great book and maybe have come to want to read it or even think about things you haven’t considered prior.  This book is available for check out in the Sequim, WA lending library at Rain Shadow Reiki.

Here is a link to a You Tube video about animal communication with wild animals that brought me to tears.  The work this woman is doing, the spiritual work we are all doing is precious and incredibly valuable to our whole planet.  This video is 52 minutes long and worth it.  Enjoy.

Blessings to you all for reading and moving forward on your own spiritual journey,  I love reading your fine comments, please keep them coming.

Favorite Quotes – ‘Happiness’ by Frank Arjava Petter

Posted by Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki

HappinessLifePerfectI thought this quote was quite timely with Christmas coming up.  I too get caught up in the excitement of the lighted tree, city lights and decorations, all the Christmas music playing and wrapping lots of gifts for my family and others and putting them under the beautiful tree.  Yes, I’m guilty of going overboard each year and in the moment it makes me happy.  I love giving in this way.  But, I also love meditating, doing Reiki and giving hugs equally as much all year round and when I’m doing so, I’m very happy.  So, anyway, this is a nice reminder that happiness doesn’t come from things, it comes from inside of us.  Here is a lovely quote from “Reiki Fire” by Frank Arjava Petter, available for loan in the lending library here at Rain Shadow Reiki.

Love and Blessings to you all at this festive time of year.  Joss

Quote from Reiki Fire

Book Reiki Fire by Frank Arjava Petter“It is my understanding that all desires, spiritual or material, are rooted in the longing to be happy.  We wish to buy this car and that house for one reason alone, namely the pursuit of happiness.  However, happiness is a very elusive guest, like a shadow.  The moment we think it is in our grasp, it takes its leave.

When a desire is fulfilled, another desire fills its place almost immediately.  the carrot forever dangles in front of our face… We even use our desires to postpone happiness, saying ‘when I have fulfilled this or that desire I will be happy.’  The bad news is that happiness can never be found in the future.  the good news:  It is right here with us now at all times.  Simply tap into the ocean of happiness by closing your eyes and looking within.  At that very moment, everything is perfect, everyone is happy.

When asked by a disciple ‘What is abundance?’ I heard my master Osho reply: ‘Abundance is when everything is perfect as it is.’  I think the state of happiness can be defined the same way.”

Quotes I like- Love is Triumphant

"Proof Of Heaven" by Eben Alexander, M.D.
“Proof Of Heaven” by Eben Alexander, M.D.

From the book “Proof of Heaven” by Dr. Eben Alexander, a Neurosurgeon’s journey into the Afterlife, his near death experience.
“Through the Orb, Om told me that there is not one universe but many  – in fact, more than I could conceive – but that love lay at the center of them all. Evil was present in all the other universes as well, but only in the tiniest trace amounts. Evil was necessary because without it free will was impossible, and without free will there could be no growth – no forward movement, no chance for us to become what God longed for us to be. Horrible and all-powerful as evil sometimes seemed to be in a world like ours, in the larger picture love was overwhelmingly dominant, and it would ultimately be triumphant.”

Quotes I Like – Reiki is a Practice

Book, Reiki For Dogs by Kathleen PrasadThe system of Reiki is considered a practice. That means that your intention and commitment to the ‘doing’ of Reiki is important to your own development, healing, and understanding of the healing process, as well as your ability to facilitate more energetic flow through your physical being. This practice never ends; it is a lifelong journey of self-discovery. The more you work with Reiki, the more you will open to this flow. For this reason, practicing Reiki can deepen your intuition and cause tremendous growth and change on all levels.” Kathleen Prasad in “Reiki for Dogs”

Book Review- Sylvia Browne’s “Past Lives of The Rich And Famous”

By Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master/Teacher of Rain Shadow Reiki

I have enjoyed watching Sylvia Browne on television for years and read many of her books.  I have at least 8 of them available in the Rain Shadow Reiki lending library, and have read them all myself.  I like her no-nonsense, no apologies attitude and the fact that she is highly talented as a psychic doesn’t hurt either.

Book Exploring the Levels of Creation Sylvia BrowneI just finished re-reading “Exploring the Levels of Creation” and got so much good information the second time reading it,  I decided to join her Facebook page.  (I rarely read books twice.) While checking out her page I saw she had a newer book out, “Past Lives of the Rich and Famous”. Not having TV, I’m a little behind on up and coming things.  I have no idea when it came out, but it’s new to me.  Boy that sounded like a fun book so I got it.  I do love anything having to do with past lives and I wanted to know, like everyone else, who these rich and famous people were in past lives.  Don’t you?

All the people in this book that she reads the past lives for are dead, to respect their privacy I’m assuming or not to get sued, probably both. ( I list many of them at the bottom of this blog.)  So, some of the people are from a generation before me but I know and am familiar with them.  When I finished this book I realized it is not the fluff book that many may think it is.  It is a very interesting study into past lives and the effects they have on our every day lives.  It has also been a wonderful lesson in judgement and it made me think a lot about how to use this knowledge in the past life healing that I do with my clients.  It was well worth my time in reading it and I highly recommend it if you have any interest in past lives at all, not just the celebrity aspect but the learning and healing aspect too.

THE One I Can’t Get Off Of My Mind

The reading that has affected me the most and I can’t get my mind off of, has been the past life story of the King of Pop himself, M.J.  I don’t want a whole bunch of wild fans coming to my page for the wrong reasons so I won’t put his full name here, but I do believe most of you can figure out who I’m talking about.  Maybe some photos will help.

Book Past Lives of the Rich and Famous Sylvia BrowneM.J. was a HUGE influence in my musical life growing up.  But, the mysteries behind his life and personality I believe are what makes this reading so amazing.  So much of his past lives explains why he was the way he was in this life; child-like, constantly working towards perfection on his face to his own personal definition  and how he was so passionate about helping children and children’s charities.  I personally never believed that M.J. would hurt children but he was attacked by a lot of people who simply didn’t understand him.  I don’t pretend to understand him but it never felt right to me that he had done the things people had accused him of doing.  I feel that sharing his story is an excellent lesson in UNDERSTANDING others rather than JUDGING them.  This is something most of us on earth need to work on and reminders like this one, help.  It was a very good reminder to me as well.  I found myself judging him on the plastic surgery issue.  I’d find myself wondering why he had to have so much, why he wanted his face to look so different.  His past life reading, in my opinion, answers these questions too.  It’s helped me to see that we don’t always have to know people’s motivations to do things that we see as different because they may not even know.  If our preferences to look a certain way are based in a past life, and many of them are, then none of us can fully understand WHY until we’ve investigated the lives creating them.  It’s all about understanding or just not judging in the first place.  It’s a tough one but the more we are aware of ourselves doing it, the more we can work on it.

Michael Jackson HappyI tried to go on with the rest of the book and enjoy the other readings but I kept thinking about the M.J. reading.  For weeks people would bring him up in conversation when rarely did he ever come up before in my many spiritual conversations.  My 12-year-old son who barely knows who he is would read an article about M.J. from a magazine that we don’t even get.  Signs kept pointing to me writing this blog and I know I better not ignore my guides AND the signs, so here I am, writing a blog about Sylvia’s book because I’ve been told to and I want to.  In respect to Sylvia’s wonderful  and fun book and double respect to M.J. for his life’s work,  here is an excerpt from Sylvia’s book, which I highly recommend buying and reading yourself, “Past Lives of the Rich and Famous” a past life reading by Sylvia’s guide, Francine about the King of Pop, M.J.

Book excerpt “Past Lives of the Rich and Famous” by Sylvia Browne

The Past Lives of Pop Star M.J.

Michael Jackson Boy“M.J. was a young soul, with only nine incarnations on this earth, and the lifetime that ended in 2009 will be his last.  One of the most remarkable aspects of his past lives – and I’ve never seen this in all my years of doing regressions and consulting with my spirit Guide, Francine, about specific people’s histories – is that Michael’s ninth and final incarnation was the only one in which he lived past the age of fourteen.  For everyone who’s ever wondered why he seemed so much more comfortable with children than adults, now you know.  And let me stress something with absolute certainty; he was no a pedophile.  Not once, not ever, and it’s tragic that he was misunderstood enough to even be accused of such a thing.  As for his passionate, lifelong involvement with children’s charities, I should add that seven of his lives were spent in poverty – three in Africa, one in El Salvador, two in the Middle East, and one in the Appalachian mountains of the United States.  He ached for starving, impoverished children because he was one, over and over again.

But there’s no doubt that the point-of-entry incarnation that most dramatically shaped the extraordinary lifetime of the superstar we knew as M.J. took place in Burma, about a century before Christ was born.  His name, as best I can make it out from Francine’s high-pitched chirping, was Tha.  He was born prematurely and weighed just over three pounds at birth.  His beautiful young mother was very ill and depressed after delivering her first and only baby and traveled home to her parents in India to recuperate, leaving Tha in the care of his father and a live-in nurse.

Michael Jackson SeriousTha’s father was a member of the king’s court, and a loyal and trusted aide.  Rarely has a father adored his son more or been more sensitive to the emotional and physical fragility into which Tha was born.  Tha was a sweet, happy, introverted child, curious and funny and intensely respectful.  In fact, the first time Tha, at the age of three, was presented to the king, after a lot of coaching from his father, he genuflected so deeply and for so long that the king began to wonder if the boy had fallen asleep.

Tha was four when his father and a group of friends took him on a hunting trip.  On the first day, Tha’s father was excited to have killed a tiger, until his son let out an agonized scream, raced to the dead animal, and threw himself on top of its carcass, sobbing and asking his father over and over again, ‘How could you?  He did nothing to you.  How could you kill him?’  His father surprised and deeply saddened by his son’s despair, held him and promised he would never hunt again.  He kept that promise for the rest of his life.

Michael Jackson SunglassesThey had barely returned from the hunting trip when Tha developed a fever and his skin broke out in a painful rash and blisters.  At first his father had thought it might have been a reaction to the trauma his son had suffered on the death of the tiger, but finally the king’s finest physicians were summoned to examine the boy.  Their conclusion was that Tha, with an already compromised immune system from his premature birth, was severely allergic to the sun.  From that day forward Tha never set foot outside the house, and his environment was kept as dark and sterile as possible to prevent any further inadvertent threats to his health.

The great delight in Tha’s life was one of his father’s skills, which had also proved to be invaluable in the king’s court:  Tha’s father was a brilliant puppeteer.  He’d created an amazing collection of hand-carved marionettes, to which he was constantly adding, and Tha proved to be gifted as well at the intricate carving and painting required to give each of them a distinct personality.

The marionettes served a far greater purpose than that of  simple entertainment.  They were also used as a kind of liaison between the king and his subjects.  When the king had news or an edict to announce to the pubic that he thought might be unpopular, he dispatched Tha’s father and the marionettes to perform the announcements, which helped to soften the blow and separate the king from his subject’s disfavor.  And when there was news or a message from the people that might displease the king, the marionettes were the perfect buffers against any initial rage he was likely to inflict on a living messenger.

Michael Jackson DancingThe marionettes mesmerized Tha.  He loved carving and painting their intricate faces.  He loved designing costumes for them for his father to sew.  He loved watching his father rehearse with them for upcoming appearances.  But most of all, he loved duplicating their every move, from their lively dances to their oddly stiff but graceful ways of greeting and interacting with each other.  He was brilliant at it and would practice for hours, watching his reflection in the windows of the house to make sure that even the slightest gestures and steps were perfect.  His father was in awe of his talent, and he treasured the private recitals Tha performed just for him every night after they’d finished their dinner.  Sadly, no one but Tha’s father ever saw those performances; he would have proudly  had his son dance for the king, but Tha was too shy to even consider such a thing.  His father, always respectful of his beloved son’s sensitivities, never forced the issue and remained the only person to be blessed with a ‘preview’ of the extraordinary entertainer we knew as M. J.

Tha’s lifetime in ancient Burma ended when his immune deficiencies finally caught up with him.  He died of complications from pneumonia at the age of thirteen.  His father never recovered from the death of his son.  But Tha, when he arrived at Home, was overjoyed to be greeted by his mother, the woman who had ultimately died giving birth to him.

By the way, no one from that lifetime accompanied M.J. into his final incarnation.”

Michael Jackson puppet likeAfter reading this life of the famous M.J., I couldn’t help but be amazed at how much his past lives had shaped his most recent incarnation.  I know this of course through all the many readings and past life regressions I have done with clients but it still amazes me each and every time, this one in-particular.  I couldn’t help but think that he was carving his own face in the perfection of his long ago beloved marionettes and that his skin sensitivity to the sun effected his skin in this life as well.  So many parallels, it explains a lot, to me anyway.  I’d be very interested to hear your opinion on this famous reading.

Some of the other famous people Sylvia reads past lives for are Elizabeth T., Mother T., The Duke, J. Belushi, K. Cobain, M.L.K. Jr, H. Bogart, A. Earhart, L. Ball, M. Monroe, K. Hepburn, J. Hendrix, and many more.  Well worth the read, very interesting and entertaining in more ways than just puff.  I found each and every life and how they paralleled the person’s most recent incarnation the most interesting part of all.  But then again, I am very interested in this topic, obviously!

Book Review & Excerpt- “Animal Reiki” by Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad

Review by Josslyn Streett Reiki Master/Teacher for Rain Shadow Reiki

I am currently reading a wonderful Reiki book about using Reiki on our beloved pets and even wild animals, Animal Reiki.  (Please work on wild animals from a very safe distance.)  The book is excellent in explaining all the basics of how to do Reiki on animals and why, but my favorite part is the stories about the animals themselves and how they benefit from the Reiki.  I teach in stories and I learn in stories so this book is wonderful for me.  The authors, through their words, you can tell, are animal lovers and put the animals first and foremost in their work with them and Reiki.  The animals’ wishes are put first and all animals are treated with great respect.  The authors remind you gently many times to ASK the animal if you can do Reiki on them and to OFFER for the animal to take only what they choose to take.  I would expect nothing less from Reiki people, but to write about it, share it with the world so that others can also learn to care for and respect animals in a similar fashion is a wonderful service they have provided.

Animal Reiki” by Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves animals, who wants to do Reiki on animals or who just wants to expand their heart chakra to be more compassionate towards animals.  Working with animals and Reiki is a wonderful way to accomplish all these goals.  I’ve been reading the book to my 12-year-old son who adores his most precious cat, Half-Pint,  more than any boy I’ve ever seen.  While she sleeps in his bed with him many nights he talks to her, listens to her and does Reiki on her too.  Their connection is quite deep.  While I’m reading the stories out loud to him about the pets who get Reiki he cries for them when they are abused, laughs at their anecdotes and shakes and giggles with joy when they are healed or adopted.  I would highly recommend you read this book out loud to your Reiki kids to instill compassion in them for pets as well.  Who knows, maybe they’ll want to learn Reiki just to work on their special pet.  This book is a tiny treasure, easy to read and such a joy.

Please continue to read below for one of my favorite animal stories in the book.  There are many.

In Love and Light of our Divine Source,

Please ask YOUR pet if you can do Reiki on them, and wait to hear their answer.  I bet they say YES!

Nanuk Finds Her Perfect Place –

Nanuk was a lovely seven-month-old Malamute dog who had been turned into a local shelter as a stray.  She was transferred to the local Northern breed rescue organization, where two volunteers, Laura and Adam, committed themselves to helping her to heal and find the right home.  However, Nanuk had no training of any kind, was terrified of people and any indoor or enclosed space, including cars, and would immediately attack another dog.  She was exceptionally intelligent and an accomplished escape artist.  When she first arrived, she was severely underweight and had no familiarity with food, bowls or leashes.  Laura and Adam deduced from her behavior that she had lived outside and been almost totally isolated and neglected.  When I met her, Laura and Adam were the only people with whom she was comfortable.  They asked me to give her a series of three treatments in the hope that her chances of adoption would be increased.

A Malamute
A Malamute

During the first treatment I sat just outside Nanuk’s run and offered her Reiki, asking her, as always, to take only the amount of energy with which she was comfortable.  The initial thin flow of energy became a moderate one, but otherwise I could barely tell that she knew I was there.  She continued her usual habit of circling rapidly around her run, jumping onto the roof of her shelter and back down repeatedly, while constantly scanning for Adam and sniffed almost imperceptibly at my hands once as she sped by in her circling.  I was otherwise completely ignored.

Undaunted, and knowing from the flow of Reiki through me that she had accepted the treatment, I returned the following day for the second treatment.  This time, when I arrived, Nanuk looked directly into my eyes for a moment and circled for five or ten minutes with less agitation.  Then she lay down with her head on her paws and slept deeply for about 25 minutes.  An especially loud noise woke her, and she got up and did a quick circle of her run, but then she lay down again and slept for another 15 minutes or so.  I sensed a strong flow of energy and was pulled deeply into the treatment until a nearby voice said, “What did you do to them?  I’ve never seen them so quiet!” I looked up and noticed that all the dogs in that area were asleep despite the high noise level in the facility.  After Nanuk awoke the second time, she went back to circling and searching for Adam with no further signs of interest in Reiki.  The flow of energy greatly decreased, and I knew she was finished with the treatment.  When I started to leave, she tried to follow me, which surprised both Laura and me.

The third treatment was uneventful.  Nanuk took a moderate amount of energy, but it felt superfluous, almost as though the work that Reiki was undertaking, whatever  that might be, had been accomplished in the second treatment.  When I left, Nanuk made sustained eye contact, but it was not clear what the results of the treatments had been.

Two days later the rescue organization received an email from a couple who had seen Nanuk’s photo and story on the internet and had fallen in love with her.  They realized that she would need a lot of love, patience and help and felt that she would teach them many things while they worked with her.

They lived in an area of California known for it’s year-round cool climate (perfect for a Malamute), in a beautiful home set among trees on many acres and surrounded by protected forest.  The house had floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, and all of the interior materials were natural wood or stone, so that being inside was as much like being outside as possible.  The couple had no children or other animals, worked at home, and immediately built her a large run so they could work on introducing her to indoor spaces as slowly as necessary.  Within 20 minutes of meeting them, Nanuk bonded with the husband and stayed by his side as Laura and Adam departed.

The couple had a scare the first full day she spent with them: Nanuk slipped her leash during a walk and ran off into the forest, but hours later she returned and walked right back up to them.  After hearing the story, I felt that Reiki had truly brought the perfect home to Nanuk. – Elizabeth”

Expressing Feelings After ‘Waking Up”

Book Quote from “Reiki, The Legacy of Dr. Usui” and words by Josslyn Streett, Reiki Master of Rain Shadow Reiki

"Reiki, The Legacy of Dr. Usui by Frank Arjava Petter
“Reiki, The Legacy of Dr. Usui by Frank Arjava Petter

This morning I picked up one of my favorite ‘go to’ Reiki books, “Reiki, the Legacy of Dr. Usui” by Frank Arjava Petter and I read this passage.  It spoke to me, so I’m sharing it here praying it helps others as well.  I read this book over and over again and still find new passages that I wonder if I’ve ever read them before.  I know I have, and I got out of them what I needed then.  But, apparently, I needed them again.

Many people are ‘waking up’ from their denial dreamland for the first time.  People are experiencing feelings they haven’t felt before.  Knowing that these feelings are not good or bad is important.  They have a purpose. That purpose is to communicate that there is an imbalance in their system, their life, their body.  It is time to LISTEN to this communication and not push it down or label it as BAD.  I’m all about the HOW.  HOW do we do this new thing, listening to our emotions, that we have not done before.  I felt this passage from the book explained it well.

Expressing Feelings from “Reiki, the Legacy of Dr. Usui.” page 56

“I often heard my master Osho say that feelings must be brought to light in order for their purpose to become clear to us.  The purpose of so-called negative feelings should be brought to light so that they can heal and the so-called positive feelings so that their light can spread even further.

Expressing our feelings is a balancing act at the start.  Like tightrope-walkers on the circus rope, one tiny wrong movement to the left, right, upward, or downward is identical with falling into the depths.  It isn’t easy to share our feelings with someone close to us without pouring them over him and burying him beneath them.

The only way to learn how to gracefully express our own feelings is to practice doing so.  Because it is often more difficult to express our feelings to people close to us, it is best to start with ourselves.  Simply go for a walk or sit down alone in a quiet place and tell yourself how you feel about yourself.  Then tell yourself how you feel about a person close to you without passing any kind of judgment on your feelings.  There actually isn’t any difference between the so-called “good” and “bad” feelings.  The person who feels them is always the same!

When you have done this a few times, choose someone in whom you have total trust.  Ask her or him to simply listen to you and then unconditionally pour our your heart.  In a relationship, it often isn’t easy to be honest because we say that we don’t want to hurt the other person.  I think this is true only to a limited extent.  The rest of the truth is that we are afraid the other person would no longer love us if we express our feelings in their entirety.  I recommend that you enter into a pact with your partner that allows both parties to be unconditionally open and honest.

The simplest way is certainly just plain openness.  By constantly being honest, we disassociate increasingly from our feelings.  At the beginning, we may possibly swing from one extreme to the other like a pendulum and somewhat exaggerate the expression of emotions.  It will become increasingly easy to share the ‘negative’ feelings with time.  After a while, it then becomes possible to speak about our feelings as if they were someone else’s feelings.”

I have found this to be true.  The more I practice at this process, the more my feelings are not as extreme, I’m not as attached to them.  It’s like I’m looking at them as someone on a movie screen like I used to have my clients do in hypnotherapy, to gain distance from them.  Of course it’s harder at first and that is why it is helpful to have someone like me or a therapist or a very close friend to help you and guide you though it.  But after some practice and experience, believe me, it gets much easier.  Good luck, may Love and Light be with you during this process.  The most important part is to DO it and to PERSEVERE.  Stick with it no matter what.

“Reiki, The Legacy of Dr. Usui” is available for check out in the Rain Shadow Reiki lending library.  Come and ‘check it out.”

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!  Live the life you’ve imagined!  As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler, solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness, weakness.”
